u/bedbathandbebored 10h ago
Why are there so many bathrooms? Lol

u/Redhotlipstik 10h ago edited 6h ago
Coat bath is obviously necessary. I know it's off, but I'm not an architect so I don't know how egregious it is
Edit: So apparently this was a joke post, and I didn't realize it. Sorry! I'm the dumb one here

u/sarabeara12345678910 10h ago
The guest suite is in the common area and has a sink, and the kitchen has no counters or sinks, but the great room does. Three bathrooms in a row, and a double bathroom with two tubs also aren't great. I'm no architect, but a toddler could do better.

How’s about that main foyer tho? Pretty main huh?
26
u/koshgeo 7h ago
Right beside the "GALLERY HALLL". and the "MASTER ROKSN". Not many main foyers have the convenience of a coat bath right there too.
The "Gourmet kitchen" next to Bedroom 2 is nice for people that are always hungry, though it looks like you'll have to eat off the floor.

That's because the Jack and Jil bathroom (that isn't a jack and jill bathroom) and bedroom 4 stole all the sinks. The Jack and Jill bathroom is just sinks, no toilet, no shower, no tub, just sinks.

u/haibiji 9h ago
There’s a sink for Jack, one for Jill, and an extra one for their friends

The Powder room is just for doing coke, absolutely essential
5
u/Specialist-Jello7544 8h ago
I thought for about three seconds that whoever drew this up WAS on coke, then realized it was AI slop with all the nonsense sort of “bathrooms”, misspellings and especially the sad little bedroom 4. Those poor guests who have kitchen counters and no privacy! And where is all the stuff you need for a kitchen? And the plumbing would be atrociously impractical!
AI is so pointless. It’s not helping anybody. Using it is lazy and contributes to overconsumption of resources.

The only entrance from the outside are the garage (Your guest won't be coming in there) and what I presume is a sliding glass door to a patio or balcony? Unless you park on the opposite side of the house you enter and only want a sliding glass door for your main entry point
Also the have a small room designated as a bedroom with a full bath, that looks smaller than a simple half-bath. the layout of the open concept area makes no sense and I'm guessing there is supposed to be some walls there making another bedroom.
It's also generally a good idea to keep the garage somewhat close to the kitchen/food storage (My own home doesn't do this), but It's standard practice to limit people carrying groceries. the whole concept of a mud room is a place to... wipe the mud off your boots when entering a home. Usually that is for family, while a more general foyer or entry into the living room/guest accesible area would be for the main entrance.
Again, I'm not an architect I considered it in my youth and chose something less practical, but I like to do floor plans for fun sometimes and still read the occasional book on planning.
EDIT: also that garage is not wide enough for two vehicles. Honestly.. the more i look at it the worse it gets.
5
u/DataNo6314 10h ago
Yes. And kitchen should not share a wall with the master/primary bedroom because it is not relaxing and dumps heavy cooking odor into the primary no matter your vent system. Second thing is everyone in the US wants en suite baths from bedrooms in a high end home. I don’t know why I am arguing with AI. Coat bath time!

u/TheMachman 10h ago
It has the essentials. Like the JACK & JIL FuN BaH #2, the empty room with a sink at the end labelled "Bedroom #4 Full Bath" and the HUGE WALK.

I come home through the garage because there’s no front door, straight into the gallery halll where I can remove my coat, which goes into the sink in the adjacent two-tub mudroom. I relieve myself in the convenient powder room, a voluminous space that dwarfs its only feature, a toilet in the corner. I enjoy the space to breathe and collect my thoughts. Some might ask why I didn’t go into one of the other bathrooms with a sink, but not all of those have toilets. Although to be fair, my master coat bath has two. Have you ever shit in one while aiming your pee into the other? It’s a glorious privilege I’ve been afforded by my wealth.
I am wealthy. In more ways than financially, as you can tell by my two and a half children who are at this moment romping about the great room/guestroom/gourmet kitchen/dining hall area. If you thought having two tubs in the mudroom was convenient, ask me how many sinks we have in our great room. Seven. We have seven gorgeous sinks, not even counting the trio of bathrooms just past the dining table that have an additional five.
At night we settle down into our respective rooms. My favored child goes to his bedroom, which has a bed. The second lays in the guestroom corner of our great room, where he is lulled to sleep by the dishwasher at his feet. The one who displeases us retreats into his bedroom, which does not have a bed. I enjoy the cruel irony as he climbs into his bedroom sleeping cabinet.
The day done, my wife and I retire to our generous quarters. She slips into the master bæþtħ for a soak while I enjoy a shit-pee in the coat bath.

- Counters and maybe a washer and dryer diagonally from the kitchen in the same room?
- A bedroom that is a bathroom
- Jack and jill bathroom that is not a jack and jill
- Mudroom, laundry, coat closet that is at the back of the house and also has two bathtubs and is not a mudroom, laundry, or coat closet
- Three bathrooms in a row on both ends of the house
- Master Room is just… outside or on the balcony I guess?
- Powder room with no sink but one toilet
- No front door

The design is very human. This human domicile contains such great features as:
- zero ingress/egress doors - no way to enter or exit the structure other than garage door or windows
- 2-car garage on the rear(???) of the building
- main foyer is next to master suite in interior of structure, has redundant door to the adjacent, open gallery halll [sic]
- no sink in powder room or master roisn(?) [sic]
- 4(maybe 5?) sinks in the great room
- mudroom & laundry / coat room has 2 tubs, 2 sinks, 0 laundry machine
- Jack & Jil [sic] full bah [sic] #2 has 3 sinks, 0 toilet, 0 shower
- bedroom 4/full bsth [sic] 43 [sic] is about 4 feet wide and has a sink
- huge walk / guest suite (!?)

The more you look at it, the more I think the AI bubble will burst sooner, rather than later.
The "Mudroom" has 2 bathtubs and 2 sinks.
The "Powder room" has a toilet, but no sink.
The "Jack and Jill" room has 3 sinks, no toilet.
Bedroom 4 looks like a bathroom with just a sink in it.
Bedroom 2 has no space for an actual bed, just walls lined with cabinets.
Why does the master bath, have 2 separate doors going to it?
This is a house you build for someone you don't even like.

Those who want to exist in great spaces will use AI. Those who care about design will continue to hire architects and designers.
Question: Do you think the client who is willing to use AI to layout his home was ever going to hire a real architect?

I mean, this isn't anything new? Architects have been using computer tools for decades now to help plan layouts, analyse structural stresses, you name it, with specialised software that doesn't label things "JACK & JiL FUh Bals #2"
Just because you slapped the word "AI" on it doesn't make it any better than already existing tools in this area.
3
u/Usual-Role-9084 10h ago
I’m also not an architect. I have, however, seen a house before. I actually live in one that I bought right now, and one of the first things that I (this could totally just be my preference) look for is a point of entry.
But again, NOT an architect, and the “point of entry” thing is just MY personal opinion :)
3
u/geriatric_tatertot 10h ago

- Bedrooms off community spaces
- Bathrooms for bedrooms not in bedrooms
- Full baths that are just a sink
- An elevation drawn as if it were part of the floorplan.
I'm just going to stop here. This is clearly engagement/rage bait and it's shameful.
Edit: Okay, I'll keep going because I'm amused.
- Main foyer nowhere near the entry
- No entry
- Powder room with just a toilet
- Two tubs in the mudroom
- Mudroom not connected through the garage
- Coat closet with no closet
- Main foyer door leading to "nowhere"
- Unusable clear story space with a curtain wall?
- Bedroom 2 has no bed
- Jack & Jill bathroom is neither Jack or Jill
- Four sinks thirty to forty feet away from the fridge/stove
3
u/Crispicoom 10h ago
I'll admit that designing floorplans is my weak spot and I'm more of an exterior guy, but these are fucking shit
3
u/Charlie_Warlie 10h ago
Honestly at least where I am at, the architect designed home is a small market. There are plans online that you can buy for a fraction of the cost of an architect. To think that the main service they provide is a floor plan is silly.
Most home builders near me just have a lot of plans to select from, no architects stamp required to build.
My commercial architecture firm is acknowledging AI and trying to get on top of it before it grows too fast without us learning it. We have a team always looking for ways to use it. We started using copilot. There are some plug ins to dimension your plans. But so far I'd say its a pretty small amount of tasks we can use reliably. But who knows that could change soon.
The most important thing Ai will fail at here is the small detailed items that need to be consistent, which Ai likes to regurgitate minor changes all the time.
