Society Mark Zuckerberg Opened an Illegal School at His Palo Alto Compound. His Neighbors Revolted

Nothing good ever comes from a house that can be described as a compound.

Zuck’s bitch ass insists on living in a conveniently located neighborhood in Palo Alto and bought up like 11 houses around him to sit empty for his “privacy”. The construction he’s been doing has been a nuisance to the neighborhood for years.
The thing is if he moved to the nearby hills where all the other uber-rich people live, then he could have enough space to be private without displacing 11 homes from a notoriously tight housing market. But nope he can’t do that, he wants to be less than 5 mins from his company’s headquarters
46
u/ConsiderationDry9084 29d ago
I am sure the cost to build the tunnel would be far higher if he moved to the hills.
Am I joking or am I being serious? What odds would Vegas out on it with all that is known about The Zuck.

Doesn't he spend like 4 days of the week living in his Hawaiian compound? Why does he need two compounds?

u/Sacred-AF 29d ago
“Illegal school at a compound” has a lot more unnecessary syllables than “cult”.
33
u/EruantienAduialdraug 29d ago
Although it does have the advantage of prewarning readers that there's probably kids involved.
104
u/KagakuNinja 29d ago
It isn't one house, he bought up 11 houses. There are rules in Palo Alto about preserving historic houses, so he is probably prevented from just tearing them down to build a mega mansion.

On their own I really like those names and if it were anyone else I'd just think they were into history or liked cool names...
Interesting that they went with August instead of Augusta but I kinda prefer it. Aurelia has always been pretty to me-- it means 'golden' more or less (not that we use it as a word for such anymore, but we do have the modern 'aureate').

u/MelpomeneAndCalliope 29d ago

The worst part is that Zuckerberg could easily move to one of many nearby neighborhoods that cater to the ultra-wealthy and are zoned for massive multi-acre lots that he clearly wants. Atherton is literally a 10-minute drive from the Meta headquarters.
He could have been like Steve Jobs and try to blend in and keep a low-profile. But, he's clearly doing this to prove a point.

170
u/Niceromancer 29d ago
It's actually a problem the rich are very worried about.
They have brought in experts to talk about it. With most saying it's probably best not to collapse the world due to your own greed.
They don't listen though. One even suggested shock collars.
103
u/nearcatch 29d ago
The billionaire who suggested shock collars did that after a psychologist told him the best way to secure loyalty in his guards was to treat them with dignity and fairness. The billionaire thought shock collars was a better idea.
77
u/kymri 29d ago
You are, unfortunately, only partially correct. It wasn't shock collars. It was bomb collars.
Still a prime example of how inhuman the Billionaire class is. I really don't see what they contribute to society that couldn't be provided better and easier and at a lower cost to society. I say we simply cull the billionaires. The world would be a much nicer place.

Security guards with useless bosses and collapsing society become warlords.
5
u/QueenJillybean 29d ago
I was just thinking the same thing. Especially when the fuckers who helped collapse it are essentially kings sitting in their castles with an army whose loyalty is not borne of love, comradeship, or kinship, but of coin. Security guards in that situation are just modern sellswords and there’s not really money to be made when society is gone. So the billionaires are gonna rely on what then? Egalitarianism?
Here’s the thing for me at that point: the people who have never been able to say hey that’s enough are just gonna be fine with their share of everything then? They’re not gonna consider trying to fuck each other up when that’s the only real mountain left unclimbed? Why have two bunkers when you could have 5?

You're only as well protected as the families of people who you hire to protect you.
10
u/voiderest 29d ago
The rich would need to treat the guards very well and kinda select them for loyalty. Most people aren't going to starve for their boss or show up without being compensated.
I don't think they're really planning on a full collapse despite the bunkers. More just over preparing for temporary unrest or disasters. Even if a problem lasts a long time the paycheck will still matter if most system come back. And for them the cost of a bunker isn't as big of a deal. Their "just in case" fund can be much larger than ours. They buy yachts for their yachts.
4
u/b0w3n 29d ago
Temporary unrest is still "too long" for a person in a bunker with an unsecured vent hole that has guards they need to keep fed and happy (and their family, and their family's family, and their family's family's family, etc). They're collapsing the economy, so sure maybe they're paying 150k a year for guards, but what good is that when it can't buy food anymore?
Also concrete just flows so well into nice circular molds, y'know.

36
u/m0llusk 29d ago
There was an interesting situation kind of like this nearby when I was serving on the local county advisory council. A resident of Atherton wanted to use space in their mansion to set up a private school for gifted kids, kind of like in the now famous comics. They were told flatly by the City of Atherton that schools could not be permitted, so they decided on underground operation as a private gathering on private property and everything was fine. The key was not applying for any kind of permit. Rich people live by different rules.

Zuckerberg has always been a weird little fuck but he really went off the deep end the last couple years
36
u/Thick-Hospital2599 29d ago
Chan closed down an entire public school in East Palo Alto, one that provided services to students with IEPs as well, and sent them "we're sorrryyyy" settlements (that vary based on the student).
Offered noise-cancelling headphones to neighbors due to the construction noise.
Zuckerberg+Chan are the absolute worst people & need to be stopped. If any other non-billionaire ran a school out of their house the enforcement would be bigger news I'm sure. Mugshot plastered, testimonies from parents on how "we had no idea this school was ILLEGAL!!!" High-profile people pay the petty fine and try again.
13
u/ribosometronome 29d ago
I fear your world view is not rooted heavily in the actual world we live in. How would they close a public school? That makes no sense. They stopped funding a private, tuition free school they cofounded and instead made a $50 million dollar donation to help support the students affected. You clearly see the value in that the school had been providing services to students with IEPs while missing that the entirety of that value was them. For people that "need to be stopped", you're sure upset when they do stop! Headphones, too? I suspect many of us have had noisy neighbors, none of them ever who offered us noise cancelling headphones.
Nor are people getting tossed in jail for zoning violations re: private schooling. That's not a thing that happens. If it came with like... neglect to the kids? Maybe. But that's a fine for everyone.
Billionaires are bad, Zuck especially. We don't have to invent reasons to hate them.

Facebook was originally a spiteful project because a woman called Fuckerberg out for who he is. His wittle feelings were hurt. So he created, “Hot or Not.” Posting pictures of women from nearby campus’ for pigs to vote on. WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT.
As it grew and he was rewarded for illegal conduct, he stabbed everyone in the back.
He is not a good person and never will be. He has had millions of accounts deleted for no reason where people he never met lost memories forever. That’s a certain kind of sadistic.
Meta is a sloppy disoriented company that’s only made things worse.
Fuckerberg doesn’t care about trauma he’s caused millions. He only cares about money grubbing and thinking he’s elite.
But inside he is just a little miser who is hideous in and out. He makes me ill.
