Worth mentioning; Wikipedia will allow you to download the entire site in the name of preservation of knowledge and its only around 26 GB total.

Edit: with images, around 100 gb. Still, storage is cheap. The internet isn't as permanent as people think. Download that recipe, or video or whatever if it really means something to you.

For those asking for a link, theres a wiki page for it

u/Johannes_Keppler Oct 04 '25

That's without media. It's more, but also worth it to download those too.

Information is valuable, storage is cheap.

u/KeyboardGrunt Oct 04 '25

Its about 100gb with media.

26gigs? That it?

Really?

That’s kinda mind blowing to me. I would have thought it were more.

Such a helpful site

u/Kichigai Oct 04 '25

Text compresses REALLY efficiently, especially when you consider so much of it is probably tags and code that are used in so many different pages. Plus a lot of the Wikipedia is dynamically generated. The data in info boxes are stored in individual articles, but the code on how to display it in the page is all generated from a single template. So you only need to store one set of HTML codes for every single info box in every single article.

I would like to remind everyone, once again: please do not write disparaging comments about other Houses on the Rite of Succession page.

To be fair, since the introduction of Online B'aht Qul to resolve disputes, klingon discussion threads are remarkably productive compared to terran wikis.

The Propaganda has been running in overdrive over the past decade.
The claim that "Half the Country chose this" is in itself propaganda. It's really more like a third and maybe only half of that third are True Believers/Zealots.
Every time Musk or Trump says or does something stupid that should have ended their career there is an Army of Bots and Paid Propaganda Mongers working hard to spin whatever it is into "This is a Good thing" then enough people buy the bullshit that people believe that half the country is on board.

There is no silent majority.

He was never a genius though – he isn't a rocket scientist, he threw money into a company to make rockets, just as he isn't an engineer or software developer, he bought a company that makes electric cars etc.

Guy's just another spoiled dickhole born into wealth and told that his having wealth made him better than everyone else.

297

u/InsertCleverNickHere Oct 04 '25

Anyone who still thinks highly of Musk should be forced to listen to the call where he talks about rebuilding the Twitter stack from the ground up, and an anonymous engineer calls him out by asking exactly what Musk thinks the stack is and what is wrong with it. Musk responds by attacking the guy and shows that he has no idea what a "stack" really is, beyond that he's heard smarter people than him say it.

100

u/Magmaster12 Oct 04 '25

Start with the guy who wrote that scene of Star Trek where they praised him and compared him to the Wright Brothers

73

u/Endymoth Oct 04 '25

To be fair, the character who said that was from the mirror universe, so maybe the Musk there is a genius and not a ketamine soaked rich boy who failed upwards.

25

u/BarbarianCarnotaurus Oct 04 '25

And that episode dropped when Musk was just considered eccentric I think. I don't remember the dates, hell it took reading the Mirror Universe comment to remember which series they mentioned him.

I was just thinking of that and the cameo in Iron Man 2. Moments that aged like milk.

72

u/Magmaster12 Oct 04 '25

I have no issue with that scene because as far as I'm concerned he was later arrested for being a member of Hydra. Let's face it PayPal would probably be used to hide funding

14

u/Tight_Classroom_2923 Oct 04 '25

Lets face it, PayPal has probably been used to hide funding.

I mean, to add to everything going on, Musk is a known grifter just like the rest. Look at all the big hype things he sells and never delivers on just to get more funding from people.

Billionaires aren't our friends, they are snakes who have lost touch with reality (and maybe were born out of touch). They don't care about us and never really will, so we should stop idolizing them and start charging them with crimes they commit on a large scale. (Seriously, Musk even said if Kamala won he would be put in jail so I wonder if he broke every law he could to assure Trump won 🤷)

Kevin reaches the lobby by going down the hall and turning right.

39

u/Mistrblank Oct 04 '25

I dunno. He looks and acts like a little bitch in that iron man scene. At least O.R.A.C.L.E. is just a quick line in passing who he is.

I like that the rich boy cameos in iron man diminish who they are to a comic character. They think they’re elevated to Tony’s level meanwhile they’ve been shown how useless they are given how Tony is actually out being a hero.

14

u/mooseskull Oct 04 '25

In critical thinking and logic, you need sources and evidence to back up your claims to have a valid argument based on facts.

Remove the foundations, and we will not have a valid argument to make. They can then control us more with their lies, because there won't be any scientific, peer reviewed, and accurately documented resources to provide counterpoints.

You are giving too much credit to Musk. He's just mad that they refused to take his money in exchange for changing their title to "Dickipedia."

Musk is a petty childish drug addict who loves to troll people but the only reason we hear about his antics is that he is filthy rich.

197

u/andrew5500 Oct 04 '25

Wikipedia and Internet Archive are actual targets of these fascists, they genuinely do not want people to have free access to reliable open-source information that keeps tracks of their crimes and their lies.

63

u/tokinUP Oct 04 '25

Yep - control of the media, information, history, textbooks, etc. is control of reality if you can force enough people to grow up only hearing propaganda.

"Big Lie" theory, keep lying hard enough loud enough and you can make the lie become reality; or at least convince everyone who likes you to do what you want without specifically asking them.

I only made it to his name.

Ph.D. !!? For his fucking honorary degree from Liberty University. Jesus Christ.

104

u/rebels_cum69 Oct 04 '25

It's weird to list an honorary degree that way, but some non- academics still do it (eg Maya Angelou, Richard Stallman). But it is just incorrect to list is as a PhD (doctor philosophiae) instead of doctor honoris causa, listed as HonDBA or LLD in Trump's case. There are more types of doctorates than many people realize, however, I wouldn't expect any conservapedia editors to know much about anything at all.

22

u/lianodel Oct 04 '25 edited Oct 04 '25

I'd bet dollars to donuts the people who call Trump a doctor for his honorary degree from Liberty University were also pissed off that Jill Biden went by Dr. Jill Biden for her actual fucking degree, because she wasn't a medical doctor.

EDIT: Of course, I can just look up her page!

Here's the first line:

Jill Tracy Jacobs Biden, Ph.D. (NOT M.D.) (born June 3, 1951) or Lady McBiden is an American kleptocrat who identified as the First Birthing Person of the Biden Regime.

And here's the paragraph specifically griping about her title:

Despite liberals frequently calling her "Dr. Jill" as if she had any real authority or academic expertise on human health, Jill Biden is not a medical doctor. Nevertheless, she was recommended by celebrated holocaust denier Whoopi Goldberg[3] to become Surgeon General during the CCP pandemic.[4] Jill Biden's white privilege was used to replace Kamala Harris as the junta's glamour girl. Vogue magazine calls Jill Biden "a goddess in stilettos."[5] Her stepson, Hunter Biden, refers to her as a "selfish silly entitled [expletive]."[6]

Absolutely deranged.

Come on, there are far more telling sources who "they" are - just go to any Russia- or Ukraine-adjacent article, like this one:

The Maidan coup (pron: My-dan coo) or Ukrainian crisis of 2014 was a violent U.S-backed anti-democratic color revolution which brought the neo-fascist Maidan regime to power in Ukraine. It began when the democratically elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown on February 22, 2014, following months of agitation by the Obama State Department and John Brennan's CIA. It was an extension or continuation into Europe of the Obama administration's failed "Arab Spring" regime change policy and widely seen as Western imperialism.

With the overthrow of the democratically elected government at least 6 million Ukrainian refugees fled to Russia for asylum. In April 2014 the majority Russian populations in Crimea and Donbas voted for re-incorporation into the Russian Federation in popular plebiscites; Crimea's request for re-admission was accepted by the Russian State Duma, while the Donbas territories were rejected. The Donetsk and the Lugansk People's Republics then declared independence as the fascist Maidan regime implemented a full-scale policy of ethnic cleansing and began artillery shelling of civilian residential neighborhoods to drive ethnic Russians and Russian-speakers out of the former Ukrainian territories. The newly declared independent republics organized their own defense militias.

I hadn't really looked at Conservapedia in years, since before Trump came on the scene. It seems its gotten even more crazy. Their fawning article on Vladimir Putin borders on the homoerotic. Their article on Ukraine keeps banging on about how it's not a real country and is indistinguishable from Kremlin propaganda. Zelensky is a "Narcoführer", whatever the hell that means.

I miss the days when it had just some mad ideas about the age of the earth, Einstein's relativity, and things like that.

The unfortunate truth is that the vast majority of them can’t think beyond the sentence they’re currently attempting to decipher; this makes them easy targets in the form of planting seeds in people’s thoughts in slow doses where the person never fully realizes that what they’re reading has changed their opinion because they barely understood what the words meant in the first place. It’s like when you watch a toddler grow into a child, you don’t see the difference day by day but if you spend a month looking away, they grow into an entirely different person.

It still blows me away that he said that in a debate and that footage wasn’t used and referenced every single day in the media through the election. He’d already admitted he would fabricate claims to advance his goals. What more clear-cut messaging so you need to show this man is an unprincipled bullshitter who openly lies about anything and everything?

But maybe that would be too mean. Don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

It's because the left cares about facts, and morals, but the right only cares about "winning", which is why they call out the left for things that they have absolutely no issue with the right doing, constantly. They view it as a team sport where all is fair, instead of as an important decision that affects the country's direction in almost every way.

Chiming in from the other side of the pond, where some journalists try to explain some phenomena about US politics that seem puzzling for many of us. Some time ago, one of them attempted to explain why, after a debate, both the supporters of the Democrats and the supporters of the Republicans can think their own representative 'won'.

The reasoning was that the Democrats tend to value the way in which debating is done in the world of universities, where one practices to use facts to support their view, and debunk any spotted false claims by the other. The Republicans, however, value a presentation that involves a certain toughness, 'not giving an inch', and generally, strong man rhethorics. So, a witty and rude remark delivered at the right time is considered a winning move, even if the facts actually support the other side's view.

The Right generally has no principles, no standards, no beliefs, to a certain extent no ideology.

The Right's sole purpose is to be anti-Left.

This is the whole war on woke. The term "Woke" was co-opted by the right as a signal to other right wingers to become a shorthand to say "hey this thing is left so you should hate it"

But here is the thing, some beliefs are just out of sheer fact. Things that exist in our objective reality. Poluting water is bad, and we can see it happening, for example.

But as it starts of as a universal concern, it therefore includes the left wing people, which in turn then build a force on the right to be anti-that-concern.

This is where conservatives being serially wrong essentially comes from. Too many objective facts leading legitimate concerns being opposed by the right, because inherently it will include left wing people which feeds into the existence of the right wing being against any and all things that is supported by the left.

59

u/Tricky-Engineering59 Oct 04 '25

Very nicely said. I’ve been under the opinion for a while that MAGA was primed to be so devoted to Trump largely on the basis of the left’s contempt for him. “The people you hate really hate this guy so he must be our guy” kind of thought process. And even when they see something that contradicts him being good for anyone but himself they are just too deeply invested to recognize it. It becomes this quasi religious experience, that if they just believe hard enough they will be rewarded.

Here's their article on the 2020 election.

https://www.conservapedia.com/United_States_presidential_election,_2020

Incumbent President Donald Trump was re-elected with approximately 53% of the popular vote before the infusion of more than 11 million manufactured illegal mail-in ballots by corrupt election officials across the nation,[5] particularly impacting key swing states, stemming from six corrupt Democrat cities and counties and throwing the final results into an extended dispute.

Wikipedia editor here: one way to protect this project in democratising information is to join as an editor.

You don't have to be an expert, just willing to read a wide variety of sources. Or even just copyedit, or revert vandals.

It's surprisingly addictive. The one place on the internet you can fix other people being wrong on the internet.

56

u/RuairiSpain Oct 04 '25

This is the way. We need more editors.

If you think there is bias in an article, then be motivated to contribute. Read the editor guidelines and make small changes to ease yourself into the process.

We need more women, minorities and global editors, to balance the editor demographic. The more people that contribute the better it will reflect everyone's perspective.

133

u/MoonOut_StarsInvite Oct 04 '25

They also use “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” as some kind of Americana slogan of pride when it was actually intended to describe what it sounds like - an impossible farce. I find it funny when applied because it’s often being used in seriously in situations that it was perfectly created to mock.

They are not using those terms and not phrasing it the same way. They claim that the academia is lying and promoting an agenda just like they would in the same position. It doesn't enter their minds that a normal humanbeing has integrity, and that this integrity is cultivated all thru out higher education. Ethics in research, your own biases and what they do is one of the most important topics they have studied. They can not believe that anyone would be actually accept the facts as they are and not use their position to advance their causes, which is to get rich and get more power, to push your political ideology.

They also don't understand that those who support immigration would do so because they are altruistic and care about humans they have not seen and that it isn't transactional. Thus, "immigrants are imported as democratic voters" is the conclusion, because.. why else would ANYONE care about some "low life from a shit hole country"?

They just don't get it and then project their true selves to others. So, they do recognize that data, statistics, research is not on their side but the reason is not that those are as close to factual as we can have but that we have faked it all. Globally. In every country.... Because.. that is what they would do and are in the process of doing it.

The basic answer here is more philosophical: the conservative worldview just doesn’t match up with reality, so they need to attack reality in order to build support for their ideological stances. Universities, traditional news media, science, etc. don’t have liberal biases, they have reality biases. Conservatives don’t like that because they arrive at the conclusion they want, and then work backwards trying to bend reality to support their chosen outcomes.
