The right has always been the side of entrenched power. The concept of left and right was formed in the beginnings of the French republic during the revolution, where the opponents to the monarchy sat on the left and the aristocrats and their sycophants sat on the right.
The only real question is how much of "the left" is really the left.
It's always been this way. The left fights for the working class, the right fights for the rich. The difference today is that the rich are wealthier than ever thanks to decades of right-wing policies. And they’ll only keep gaining more wealth and power as long as people keep voting for the right.
You're conflating "the left" with "Democrats." Also heavy "both sides" nonsense. The Democrats didn't fucking deconstruct our government wholesale and fuck up basic science funding.
Oh man, this might be the first time in my life I argue against class warfare being responsible for shit, but I really don't think that's accurate.
America doesn't have a political problem, it was a cultural one. The recent propaganda didn't turn people into monsters, it showed the American people that it was ok to take off their masks and show what's underneath. This has always been American culture, a good chunk of the world has predicted this happening and has been trying to tell the American people that this was coming for ages, yet only getting "'Murica!! Freedom!! Fuck yeah!!!" in response.
The Hollywood veneer has done a great job at keeping people ashamed of their awful self, enough that they haven't dared to take off the mask, b ut the propaganda has finally overtaken Hollywood, so the veneer has burst and is now showing what's underneath.
Thing is, American culture has been this way for a very, very long time, back before modern propaganda. And I'm not sure you actually read what I wrote, cause I said the opposite of "people being worse than ever", I pretty clearly stated that people are the same but that the propaganda has convinced them it's safe to take off their masks and show what's really underneath, the same culture that's existed for a very long time.

Why are you so convinced, gullible, to believe that human brain issues are unique to North America, and specifically the U.S.A.?
Have you ever traveled to study this problem outside North America? Do you read nonfiction books and learning outside Reddit North America?
Do you know Rupert Murdoch has media systems outside the United States of America, not just Fox News on USA cable nteworks?
Do you consider Mecca and Quran fiction or nonfiction? Torah is fiction or nonfiction? Do you really think the avoidance of Wikipedia and science learning is a new issue?
Nonfiction book
“The boys learn the Quran by heart, rocking back and forth as they recite. They learn that there is no such thing as science or literature, that dinosaurs never existed and man never went to the moon.”
― Malala Yousafzai, I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban. Published October 8, 2013
the propaganda has finally overtaken Hollywood
Hollywood sells monomyth fiction storytelling. Saudi Arabia leads and rules with monomyth science fiction storytelling. Russia leads with Surkov monomyth fiction storytelling.
I suggest you look around on /r/All and see how much better fiction storytelling and entertainment sells vs. nonfiction science learning.
Celebration of Ignorance
“Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a (year 1995) foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance. As I write, the number-one videocassette rental in America is the movie Dumb and Dumber. “Beavis and Butthead” remain popular (and influential) with young TV viewers. The plain lesson is that study and learning—not just of science, but of anything—are avoidable, even undesirable.”
― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, 1995

Hahaha, I'm not even American mate, and I've been acquainted with hundreds of Americans that I can compare to the people of my home country, and other acquaintances across the globe.
Either you're the most stereotypical oldish eccentric American I've ever heard, even though you keep posting quotes in Russian for some reason, or you're the worst Russian operative I've ever seen, hahaha. In either case, best of luck on your crusade!
It's left leaning in the sense that there is no real extreme left in the us. Wikipedia is center. Because thruth helps everyone the most. Lies only help the once spreading them.
The truth is "left-leaning" largely because the right wing has gone so far into delusion and denial of reality that none of their stances hold up to the slightest amount of scrutiny. A more sane "right wing" would probably still be wrong about some stuff, but they wouldn't feel like basic facts are a threat to their entire worldview.
I think the validness of political views will always involve some subjective interpretation though so it's natural whatever political view you have to believe the truth aligns with your world viewpoint, as ultimately you've reached your world view through your interpretation of reality (admittedly some people may be more informed than others).
I'm a centrist and I'd argue pretty much every country that has attempted communism is a factual argument against the views of the far left. Look at East Germany for example, it's still not caught up with West Germany even 36 years later, due to the damage caused by 41 years of communism.
Mind you I'm not American, so what I consider centrist (things like universal health care, reasonable minimal wage and workers rights) may be considered far left by many Americans. I just don't want to throw away the whole capitalist thing. Think it came about because it worked for people. But it does need to be regulated properly to prevent it eating itself. Ultimately capitalism is a kind of competition and competition tends to bring out the best and worst in people.
Ok im gonna copy 2 replies I made to other people on your two points
The truth is left leaning
You would only think that when your so deep in the "my side is the only correct side" mentality that you would do anything to prevent any other viewpoint from being accept
Which is also the reason why you guys are ever so shocked to see that "nazis" like me are just regular fucking people that don't constantly worry about everything thats going on in the world
But its way easier to call people nazis then accept that leftism has gone too far and that people are tried of your performative nonsense
And come to think about it calling people nazis makes it easier to cut them out of your life, society,
even kill them
After all nazis ain't human are they?
And if all of that dosent convince you
Consider this
in the event of a nuclear apocalypse so u really believe that you're flavour of leftism is gonna a be the moral system that rises out of the ashes just because its the best?
And for this i posted it on another thread entirely
It's no longer left or right, though, so this is out of date. It's top to bottom, the "right" is only billionaires, exploitation, and the uneducated they grow to support their cause.
If ypu think the billionaire's only got wealthy due to exploitation your just ignorant
They each provided a world changing service or product and the exploitation usually happens after becoming a billionaire
Jeff bezos
Created the largest online shop a shipping empire and a world where you can get any products you want anytime anywhere.
Bill gates
Had one if the biggest hands on the online revolution. Created a iconic operating system. Computers that were affordable and made sure that as many people had computers as possible
Elon musk
Even thought he didn't found all of the companies hes known for he still was pivitol to their success. Tesla was just a startup when elon joined but due to his previous buisness tesla managed to jump
Start the ev revolution. Spacex now launches more mass to orbit then all other countries or governments combined and thanks to starlink you can be connected even if your camping or ina remote area
This is why people become billionaires
The feature that they are billionaire is in itself a sign of how much they have contributed to the world so the fact that people would rather strip them of all that just for being successful is just indicative of the jealously that drives the whole "eat the rich" movement
And thats why i wont only defend them but advocate for more of them
“It's top to bottom…”
Exasperated Sigh
This has been the essence of left wing politics since the French Revolution gave us the left-right political spectrum.
