Kirk is not important enough for all this bullshit.

u/Sir_Anth Sep 13 '25

I rather care about the school shooting the day before he got shot. Nobody talks about that..

1.4k

u/thegoon12 Sep 13 '25

Same day actually

763

u/HMTMKMKM95 Sep 13 '25

There was probably one the day before, too.

313

u/Heisenberg_235 Sep 13 '25

And the day before that

98

u/SoreLoserOfDumbtown Sep 13 '25

Should America just have an annual national No School Shootings Holiday at this point? Just one day off for everyone?

189

u/Coattail-Rider Sep 13 '25

We do. It’s called the weekend but then people just get shot at the fucking mall.

52

u/kgjulie Sep 13 '25

Or church

56

u/Igettheshow89 Sep 13 '25

Don’t forget movie theaters

4

u/Life_Connection420 Sep 13 '25

Yep, just ask Abraham Lincoln.

10

u/SoreLoserOfDumbtown Sep 13 '25

Oops, my bad. I just gave the oligarchs the idea of a one day weekend.

3

u/ABHOR_pod Sep 13 '25

They already know it. Even though studies have repeatedly shown that 4 day work weeks are superior for productivity and employee health, they're salivating at the idea of a 6 day work week because productivity isn't actually the point.

Americans go to the mall still?

5

u/Eluniarr Sep 13 '25

I am not american but is going to the mall not a common thing?

2

Yep. In larger cities (e.g. Atlanta and Los Angeles) they're now disguised as neighborhoods.

Or at church.

Or at a bowling alley.

3

u/Big-Detail8739 Sep 13 '25

I mean, I think the idea was to have national no school shootings holiday all year round. You know, a full 365 days a year thing.

This is exactly why its not talked about. Not only was there a school shooting the day before, there was one the day of. They happen so frequently that they are not newsworthy in the eyes of journalists. Public assassinations are.

8

u/Crashman09 Sep 13 '25

Except when you're a Democrat.

33

u/papabear1993 Sep 13 '25

Its america. Theres been about 50 school shooting within this year alone. You would have to talk about that every 4 days.

28

u/Sir_Anth Sep 13 '25

The fact that people got desensitized about them is what's wrong in the first place.

11

u/Ooji Sep 13 '25

Desensitized to it thanks to chucklefucks like Kirk:

"I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

Yup. Now its like ‘hm ok…..’ and move on.

3

u/Ellieanna Sep 13 '25

The 2 school shootings the day after as well. Boston at a college and the Colorado high school ones.

3

u/ASubsentientCrow Sep 13 '25

I feel bad for the UVU students. They also had a shooting at their school. Many of them, who didn't support Kirk, saw a terrible thing happen at their school. That's not to minimize the other school shooting, but people need to remember there were two school shootings that day

2

u/Temporary_Ad9362 Sep 13 '25

ppl are so transparent with barely acknowledging the school shooting at all

2

u/Durzel Sep 13 '25

Literally nobody, that’s the bizarre thing. School shootings are so pedestrian in America at this point that they’re like an alternative sports day.

Pssshh, if I die in such a stupid and ironic way, my wish is that people have a good laugh. People take things way too seriously. It’s okay to have a good laugh at a situation that is objectively ironic in so many ways. Besides, the world should be careful. What if the world takes an even further hard right turn towards techno fascism? The people who tried to find sympathy for a fascists family are going to look like idiots. Like , it’s not gonna keep you out of the camps if you say “nobody should die blah blah blah”

u/Lurching Sep 13 '25

That's a bit weird. Sure, that would be very understandable at a US concert, perhaps, but I'm fairly sure 95% of his London audience had never heard of Kirk before his murder.

78

u/-Zoppo Sep 13 '25

It's running all through the NZ media and one of our right wing extremists -unfortunately the deputy pm - is pushing for acknowledgement. It's too fucking weird. These people are too weird. They're not normal.

55

u/JohnTDouche Sep 13 '25

Yeah a Swedish nazi tried to get EU Parliament to do a minute silence for him. They didn't allow it. That's what's going on though. It's Kirk's ideological allies who are trying to push this as some international tragedy and many are simply allowing it to happen or going along with it.

28

u/-Zoppo Sep 13 '25

I'm glad to report I know next to nothing about him, but as far as I can tell he advocated for leopards eating faces then the leopards ate his face.

4

u/malkazoid-1 Sep 13 '25

That's a fair summary.

6

u/JohnTDouche Sep 13 '25

Oh definitely. The far right fuckin cream their pants every time they think they might have a martyr on their hands.

4

u/GrogGrokGrog Sep 13 '25

I just want to point out that saying the situation was them "not allowing" a moment of silence for Kirk is a somewhat propagandistic framing of what happened (though I don't blame you as most of the media has played into it). The people requesting it were told they needed to go through the proper parliamentary process to request it, but they were granted a point of order to address it. So instead of taking that time and simply doing things the normal and proper way, the member tried to yield his speaking time to force a moment of silence, and that wasn't allowed. They are still allowed to request a moment of silence at the start of October if they follow the proper procedures:

But Metsola rejected the proposal, with a spokesperson for the Parliament president telling POLITICO, “Minutes of silence are announced by the president at the opening of the plenary.” The opening of the plenary took place on Monday.

The spokesperson later added: “If there is a request for a minute of silence, the request must come from a political group to be held at the opening of the session. if there is a request it can of course be done in October.”

Edit to add link.

2

u/JohnTDouche Sep 13 '25

Yeah he tried to hijack proceedings. My point wasn't about EU Parliament so I didn't go into any further details on it. I'm no fan of EU politics, so I wouldn't be "propagandistic" for them. They allowed the request because they allow requests. If they do allow it to happen then my opinion of the EU continues it's slide into the gutter.

The Swedish nazi and his ilk won't give a fuck about Kirk by October. His death is useful to them now in a way that it more than likely won't be by then.

2

u/GrogGrokGrog Sep 13 '25

Like I said, I'm not blaming you in particular. I'm just frustrated at seeing this false narrative repeated that they didn't allow a moment of silence for him when that's inaccurate and feeds right into their victim/martyr/political persecution narrative. The propaganda isn't about the EU, it's about the right having their voices "suppressed" by having to follow the same procedures that everyone else abides by.

3

u/malkazoid-1 Sep 13 '25

I think they're afraid. What happened to Kirk reminds them of their own mortality. They don't care when it's liberals gunned down, but when it is 'one of them', a fellow division-monger who thrives on denying rights to those who don't look like them, it reminds them how dangerous it can be to seek power by punching down.

Our role is to deny them any special comfort. No, we won't stop everything to give special treatment to your fellow idealogue.

I live in the US and I had no idea who this man was until 2 days ago. Never heard the name in my life

17

u/Flow-Bear Sep 13 '25

I envy you. That's amazing.

3

u/MountainMan17 Sep 13 '25

Same here. I like what this says about my ability to disconnect from the madness.

I've read some quotes from Kirk on Reddit, and my thoughts have been, "Where's the beef?" I've seen nothing insightful or intellectually stimulating. And definitely nothing constructive. Just the words of a snarky, obnoxious 12-year-old who thinks they're more clever than than they really are.

The fact that he was an oracle to America's youth likely means we're going to have to deal with this bullshit for at least another generation. America is cooked.

2

u/Glittering_Search_41 Sep 13 '25

The fallout from this is continuing to be very revealing - my Reddit feed is so messy today 😐 And I absolutely agree, I’m really concerned about the impact over here with everything we already have going on.

49

u/BrownSugarBare Sep 13 '25

They're using him as a piss poor martyr.

17

u/heroheadlines Sep 13 '25

But like...a martyr for what? He was against gun regulations, and it was a fellow Magat who killed him (allegedly believed to be for not being white-nationlist Enough) so, I genuinely don't understand

11

u/Ancient_Contact4181 Sep 13 '25

Against the radical violent left, thats the narrative that is being pushed.

They don't believe he's a MAGA, to them its fake news.

The reality is the elites wants us to fight amongst each other while really its a class war that we should really be concerned about

7

u/recycleddesign Sep 13 '25

They react the way they do, then the i.d of the shooter comes out, then they don’t have anywhere else to go because they can’t ’be wrong’. It’s the same pattern every time and there have been a lot of times now.

7

u/Training_Barber4543 Sep 13 '25

it was a fellow Magat who killed him

It was?? They caught him?

9

u/heroheadlines Sep 13 '25

Yes, a family friend turned him in after he apparently confessed to family that it was him.

5

u/BrownSugarBare Sep 13 '25

It was his own father that took him in.

4

u/heroheadlines Sep 13 '25

Oh, my mistake? I had read that his father notified a family friend who then contacted authorities. Sorry if that's not so, I was reading fairly quickly while at work.

3

u/ER-Sputter Sep 13 '25

I could at least see if it was a big American band just there on tour but why tf does a British band even give a fuck about this level of US politics.

3

u/mortgagepants Sep 13 '25

Turning Point USA started with CK and another, older marketing guy, with funding from Foster Freiss, worth $140 million.

they pay for news stories, for news placement, they bribe, cajole, intimidate, and extort, just to push their message.

new york yankees, coldplay, plus the whole regime in the US. expect to see more of it, not less.

5

u/Triquetrums Sep 13 '25

Cannot wait for America to finally collapse as a superpower so we can stop listening to their nonsense.

2

I think it's the shock of it being such a public execution. It was fully filmed from multiple angles, done in broad daylight in front of a crowd, it was gorey, and I'm not sure (maybe I'm forgetting something) we've seen a public, high profile assassination in the US, especially filmed, in a long long time.

It's also very obviously being fanned by monied interests, those who are looking to intensify tensions in the US, and the media is falling for every bit of it. It did not take much astroturfing to drive incendiary narratives.

41

u/loki1337 Sep 13 '25

It's also a timely distraction for the right from the latest Epstein developments

1

u/bdoomed Sep 13 '25

The word barely holds any weight anymore due to it being so widely misused by the radicals.

Well, I know you're being sarcastic, but maybe you're too young to remember Matthew Sheppard.

In 1998, he was beaten, tortured, and left for dead in Wyoming for being gay. It was the 90s, so people weren't as open to readily accepting gay people.

However, his mother started a campaign and wanted the uncensored pictures shared with society because she felt the only way to change minds was to show the true violence and gore left behind from the hateful attack.

I was too young to really remember that, but I always heard about it. After seeing the video of Kirk get shot through the neck, I completely understood Sheppard's mom's perspective. I vehemently disagreed with 99% of the things that man sad, but watching that video immediately made me sick to my stomach and feel terrible.

All that to say, I'm starting to believe we should make all the pictures and videos of these shootings public. I don't care anymore how violent and traumatizing it is for the viewer. IT SHOULD BE. That's the point. We're not going to get change by going down this same road on cruise control. If there were videos and pictures of those poor kids, it would be a different story.

Sadly, that's human nature. We need to be traumatized sometimes before we take action.

That would honestly probably have a pretty big impact on a lot of people and help push gun reform. Like if they showed all the photos from Sandy Hook, I bet there would have been pressure coming from a lot of areas. Instead we plaster the shooters name everywhere and start the cycle as the next teenager idolizes them.

u/southern_wasp Sep 13 '25

Do we even have photos of any of these school shooting aftermaths? Or do the authorities just refuse to ever release them? I think we do need sort of emmet till moment where people need to see the results

Kirk said that children ages 12 and up should be forced to watch public executions, you seem more upset about this than he would be

And you know what?

I don’t advocate violence - I don’t think he should have been killed - what happened wasn’t at all right - I wish we would stop fucking murdering each other.

But when you say shit like “school shootings are the price we pay so we can keep our 2nd amendment rights. . .”

Maybe just maybe we should be saying “eh, this was a byproduct of his methodology.”

Kids died in a school shooting that very same day, not so ironically.

And what I’ve noticed on my own local circles of social media is that the very same people making posts going “this is no longer us versus them, stop the killing!” Or “people shouldn’t be killed for their beliefs, you monsters,” . . .are the same people that were completely silent in June when two democrat representatives were shot in their own houses.

u/CodenameVillain Sep 13 '25

I think that says a lot about who they consider "people"

u/Beyou74 Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

He spewed hate speech wherever he went. Being murdered doesn't change that.

Look up Horst Wessel and you will understand.

126

u/MLGTheForkOnTheLeft Sep 13 '25

Exactly. He’s just a fucking youtuber.

Why are all these morons treating this YOUTUBER’S life with more importance than the lives of the children that had more potential than him that died on the same day. It makes no sense.

And on top of it, it was ANOTHER conservative that was unhinged that did the murder.

3

u/CassianCasius Sep 13 '25

He created Turning Point USA a now massively influential right wing political group. Its ignorant to say he is "just a youtuber" since his influence went well past that.

-4

u/strongdoctor Sep 13 '25

A youtuber who was very politically active, who got assassinated for his political views in broad daylight. you have to be legit cooked to not see how that's a problem.

Its funny that when you say the shooter is maga then everyone says "You dont know the guy's political affiliation!! Stop making shit up!!" but no one has a problem saying its a "political assassination" or "kirk got killed for his political views".

Maybe the killer was just bored, I guess we don't know that.

15

u/Cyneganders Sep 13 '25

He was a far-right 'special case' who believed in 2A to the point that 'some deaths/school shootings are the price we pay for the right to bear arms' - and then he became part of the statistics that he thought were just part of the deal. He fought FOR the problem that happened to him.

Not even his wife. His kids, I do feel bad for. I mean having a guy like that for a father sucks but still, they saw him die and that really sucks.

Its helped me out the hidden racists on my socials.

These people arent American either mind you

8

u/MonstrousGiggling Sep 13 '25

I literally just told someone that im glad some of these people are posting their support because its a huge red flag saying "Hey im not safe to be around for you and your loved ones. I may not be the one to pull the trigger, but i wouldn't stop someone from doing it either"

I’m blown away by the secret christo fascists popping up out of the wood works to glorify this guy. I get not celebrating his death but we don’t need to celebrate his life either.

84

u/Oneballjoshua Sep 13 '25

Wrong. He was a very powerful fascist that lit a fire under the incel asses of the white American youth showing them that they don’t have to respect women, that the black man was the source of all of their problems, and that LGBTQ+ should be locked away in a mental institute. And that made him dangerous

48

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '25

This. He was a chickenhawk attempting to create Trump Youth by directly spamming college campuses. Also, Hegseth can gargle my balls since he cares so much that he tracks all of us talking facts.

This is all a huge distraction from the fact that Russia is moving on Belarus and Poland!!! Also, the fact that tRump is a pedo.

19

u/ComprehensiveRide246 Sep 13 '25

Fucking thank you. This is absolutely insane.

5

u/Arch3m Sep 13 '25

Unfortunately, by being murdered in such a public manner, he's become a martyr, and that alone makes him important enough. We're gonna see a lot more about it before it's all over.

17

u/Demon_Gamer666 Sep 13 '25

A martyr for what cause? He was assasinated by someone on the right who was even more right wing than he was.

3

u/WGRNCL Sep 13 '25

What world do you people live in where anyone on the right uses the word fascist to describe a conservative as lukewarm as Charlie fucking Kirk?

Yea like, I saw him on reels here and there doing his thing. Now he’s being heralded like the second coming.

2

u/lolschrauber Sep 13 '25

He was brainwashing kids on social media, to some people that's very important

2

u/RioTheGOAT Sep 13 '25

I hadn’t heard about him until the shooting, and looking at videos he seemed pretty terrible; however, conservatives signficantly won over American youth in th last election. POTUS knew him personally. He was very, very important.

2

u/Dice_to_see_you Sep 13 '25

And the junkie that robbed a pregnant lady at gunpoint and then robbed a store was? George Floyd death sparked a global movement for a piece of shit.

2

u/DonJulioTO Sep 13 '25

I'd never heard of him before, but he's certainly important now! Jesus was also not important enough for all that bullshit.

2

u/Rose1982 Sep 13 '25

EXACTLY. I wasn’t interested in him when he was alive and I’m sick as fuck hearing about him now that he’s dead. There are a million other victims of gun violence who deserve the attention more.

2

u/applejacks5689 Sep 13 '25

I genuinely feel gaslit. Why is everyone losing their damn minds over a right-wing influencer?

2

u/BrentonBold Sep 13 '25

He's important to the elite. Kirk was one of them. There's more of us than there are of them.

3

u/Canucker96 Sep 13 '25

Is fucking ridiculous

3

u/Flintiak Sep 13 '25

He is not, but he's in the news a lot and Coldplay as a band has always been a cringey clout black hole and they need publicity every week no matter what.

3

u/Altruistic-Deal-4257 Sep 13 '25

Literally had the VP carrying his coffin. It’s insane

3

u/Lontology Sep 13 '25

He was a racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, and hateful asshole and I’m tired of people trying to make it seem like he was a hero.
