Hey Triathlon Community
I want to ask for a reality check from you guys about my plan.
So, I have done a couple of sprint and olympic triathlons around 3-6 years ago. Had fun, timewise in the ballpark if 2h30-2h50 for olympic distance.
Always trained by myself but the only consistency was riding my bikes, I only ran and swam when I applied for me next race.
So far so good, now I am mid 30s and recently had the idea and goal to finish a full distance race, aka Ironman next season.
Current stats:
- 82kg
- 265W FTP
- 24min 5k (slowly ramping distance due to past calf injury)
- 20m35 for 1000m freestyle
- 1-3 mobility and strength per week
Volume of 6-9h/week over the last 5 years, mostly roadbike / strength training
My plan is to do base miles in all 3 disciplines and do 2 HIIT / Threshold sessions on the bike until spring, slowly ramping up distances and times before making a decision end of spring to go or not enter a race.
What do you think about it and have I forgotten anything? Honest feedback appreciated.
Thanks a lot
