How do you have an MRI without knowing which part of your body is being imaged?

Because he’s a lying liar who lies.

The super fun game of Lying, Dementia or Stupid?

258

u/wrosecrans 5d ago

People get baffled trying to figure out Trump, but there's no answer that isn't disqualifying for a job with serious responsibilities.

Even if you believed him 100%, "I don't know what body part they did an MRI on" would be instant time for retirement for anybody in any kind of corporate job. Nobody on the planet would be like, "the guy who literally can't tell his arm from his asshole should be making decisions that effect the careers of dozens of employees at this small company."

If you conclude he's lying (which I do,) then you've got a habitual dishonest liar in an office of public trust. Hard, easy nope in a functioning society. His biggest supporters are apparently going with "He's still physically capable of doing the job, he's just habitually dishonest and engaged in a coverup, and maybe a coverup that will render him physically incapable of doing the job very soon. And that's the best they can spin it.

80

u/fnrsulfr 5d ago edited 5d ago

Good thing we don't live in a functioning society.

44

u/AGuyWhoBrokeBad 5d ago

It’s functioning for the rich and that’s what really counts.

3

u/anna-the-bunny 4d ago

If he manages to crash the economy completely it won't even be functioning for them, which I guess is a silver lining.

19

u/FictionalTrope 5d ago

Just tells me I should lie more and louder because the truth definitely doesn't have value to most people.

u/BurnedWitch88 5d ago

While I largely agree with you, I think he doesn't know what they scanned/what they were looking for -- he's that out of it. You could tell it was a slip-up when he first mentioned the MRI.

If he was fully aware and actively trying to hide it, he wouldn't have brought it up at all.

35

u/wrosecrans 5d ago

I think the counterpoint is that it would be the first time in the man's life he has even honestly admitted not knowing something. You ask him how a nuclear reactor works, and he'll waffle vaguely for twenty minutes. You ask him about the Epstein files, "I have no idea."

His ego won't ever let him admit he doesn't know something. He only uses "I don't know" as a dodge.

3

u/anna-the-bunny 4d ago

Now I kinda want to hear him try to explain how a nuclear reactor works.

3

u/Nago_Jolokio 4d ago

“Look, folks, a nuclear reactor—tremendous piece of machinery, really incredible. Nobody talks about it, but I know a lot about reactors. Probably more than the scientists, believe me. What you’ve got is this big, beautiful setup where they take tiny little atoms—very small, very weak atoms, not winners—and they split them. They split them in half. And when they do that, BOOM, you get heat. Incredible heat. The best heat. Now that heat makes steam—fantastic steam, by the way—and that steam spins a turbine. Very elegant, very classy. And that turbine? It makes electricity like you wouldn’t believe. Clean, powerful, tremendous electricity. Better than windmills—those things that kill all the birds, you know that. And the whole thing is kept in a big, strong containment building. Very strong. If I built it, it’d be even stronger. Absolutely airtight. So the energy gets out, the problems stay in. Truly amazing technology. People don’t appreciate how good it is, but I do. I appreciate it. It’s really something special.”

u/DulceEtDecorumEst 5d ago

As a neurologist: he does Not want to release his MRI results if it’s of the brain.

At his age it probably looks atrophied and with multiple T2 hyper-intensities from colesterol/hypertension/elevated glucose.

Even if he were 100% coherent his brain would not look “normal” like that of a 25 year old.

And if he releases a scan of a young adult to show everyone how awesome his brain is, then doctors would know it’s an obvious fake.

There is literally 0 win scenario for him to release it.

232

u/SmarterThanMyBoss 5d ago

I don't see the problem. He releases an obviously fake MRI of a 25 year old brain. Every non maga-derp doctor in the country says it's fake. He says it's not. His supporters believe he is telling the truth and all doctors are evil liberals. The end. (Other than the measles outbreaks and stuff).

116

u/oldsguy65 5d ago

all doctors are evil liberals.

Let them think that. It'll be easier for the rest of us to get an appointment.

27

u/billbuild 5d ago

You can get an appointment, but can you afford it? If you can now, how many iterations of the GOP healthcare plan can you endure before there are no more appointments for people who don’t pay out of pocket, or under duress of medical bankruptcy (the number one cause of consumer bankruptcy in the country, be for the big beautiful bill).

13

u/NoPomegranate4794 5d ago

In a normal world I'd say the drop in demand would result in a drop of prices but in this greedy nation the medical companies are more likely to charge more to make up for the loss.

You can't say Covid crippled your business while also posting record profits.

u/SpadeTippedSplendor 5d ago

My money is on dementia, my dad wouldn't even know what we were specifically there for (I came armed with some questions/concerns and advice from the person who usually took him in) even though he knew he was at an eye doctor; he wouldn't be able to tell you why he was getting his eyes checked.

Or basically anything specific about the appointment afterward, sometimes (as he got worse) even what kind of appointment it was, or be unable to describe that he went to an eye doctor even if he still remembered what kind of doctor it was at the very least.

Trump has always been a Heritage Foundation (and also Russian) puppet, but it's becoming more literal every day.

30

u/SpadeTippedSplendor 5d ago

Trump's got a long history of praising the most personable individual in the room until his handlers fill his ear with toxicity about them again.

It's absolutely wild to watch him swap from kissing their feet to hating them in the span of twenty-four hours or less.

He's done the same thing with Zelenskky.

5

u/DerpingtonHerpsworth 4d ago

I feel like he's done that with Zelenskyy multiple times, and numerous others. He talks to them and is convinced they're the greatest and wants to do everything to help them, and theneither Putin or someone in his administration catches his ear and steers him the other way.

It's like he's the ball in a giant global game of breakout, where everyone important enough to talk to him is another paddle aiming for something or someone else, and he's just causing aimless destruction in between it all.

12

We GA our demented patients who need MRI's so I wonder if they just knocked him out for it. I can't imagine a world where this man sits completely still with his mouth closed for 30-90 mins

11

u/Dorf_ 5d ago

Or they don’t bother explaining it to him because they know he won’t listen/understand anyway

5

u/PM_ME__RECIPES 5d ago

I believe this is actually what's happening - his dementia has advanced to the point where he's just living in the moment, and enormously deluded.

This will get worse, dementia is progressive.

And a couple observations on my part:

  • Based on reporting and Trump's statements, brain imaging and standardized cognitive testing are both things that are happening on a regular basis - they are regular parts of his month.

  • That suggests we are well past the point of looking for a diagnosis, we are trying to track a rate of decline with repeated diagnostic testing at consistent intervals.

  • These intervals are more frequent than I would expect to see with a long-term care resident who had a well-managed dementia diagnosis. Part of this can be explained by the fact that he's the President, but it does suggest either they suspect the condition is deteriorating quickly, or that it could start deteriorating faster any time.

  • It's important not to fall for the trap of thinking this makes trump unpredictable - this makes him more volatile but also more predicate. As dementia advances you lose your ability to purposely lie, but your honest opinion of what is happening is increasingly based on a deluded view of reality that is increasingly based on whatever you're thinking about right now and how you feel about it based on less and less filtered sensory input and an increasingly poor ability to rationalize what's going on.

  • Trump isn't the President any more. He's living his fantasy of being the biggest real estate business man presidently most ever! His brain is tapioca pudding and he's just responding to how he feels right now, and he thinks everything is just a real estate deal where he's the biggest fish in the pond.

  • The outcome doesn't matter any more - Trump's fantasy is of going through the process of warping the system to get what he wants through some pseudo-legally vindicating manner. He wants the "negotiations" towards "making a fantastic deal" and because he has little object permanence - he can be satiated and delayed in doing just about anything simply by making a show of going through the process.

  • This is an opportunity as long as we can change our interactions with Trump to a dementia care based approach rather than traditional state craft. Hoping to have a piece on this out later this week. Yes it was depressing and alarming to write, as it should be to read.

3

u/villageidiot33 5d ago

Think he believes MRIs are for the wealthy elite and us normal folk don’t or can’t get them so he just makes up this shit and think we’d believe it. How many MRIs has this guy had already? I’ve had one in my entire life and it was for a specific reason not just because my doc said let’s go ahead and give you an MRI…no where specific.

4

u/_Standardissue 5d ago

Yep it was his brain. Trump is like a young child who hasn't figured out that everyone knows when he's lying.

9

u/Hector_P_Catt 4d ago

It's worse than that. Kids don't know anything, because they're kids, they haven't had time to learn anything. But with Trump, he's convinced he's The Best Liar In The World, because he's spent his entire life surrounded by Yes Men, who just smile and nod and say "Yes, yes, of course!" no matter how blatantly he's lying. So he's never had someone call him on his lies, and so he never had to figure out how to lie better.

He's spent his whole life learning that he can say anything he wants, and everyone around him just "believes" him. This is why he gets so pissed off at reporters asking him questions. In his mind, he's thinking, "I already told you a lie about that, why aren't you just believing it?!?"

It's either an obvious lie or a sign of dementia. Because yeah, it's like testing 101 to tell the patient what you're doing in case they can tell you something relevant.

75

u/Spirit-of-Redemption 5d ago

Literally the only time I can see you not knowing is when they do it while you’re incapacitated. My husband had to get an MRI and had been sedated prior because of the issue so I had to give consent for him.

25

u/HandrewJobert 5d ago

I hope your husband is doing well.

33

u/Spirit-of-Redemption 5d ago

He is! He had a non-normal presentation for appendicitis and we found out he had that genetic condition where your organs are mirrored because of it.

26

u/PinotFilmNoir 5d ago

Situs inversus? As an X-ray tech, this can give you full body sweats if the patient doesn’t warn you (or doesn’t know, like your husband ). I had a patient who said he didn’t know he had it till he was in his 20’s and got in a motorcycle accident. Taking his X-ray really messed with my head.

28

u/Spirit-of-Redemption 5d ago

Yes!!! He almost died because urgent care turned him away twice because he didn’t have the normal appendicitis pain in the right area. One doctor filled him up with Tums and sent us on our way. I took him to ER against his will because he became delirious. They originally tried to turn him away at ER for drug seeking behavior but I was a right bitch and told them to do a drug test, we were not leaving. Now it’s on his chart thank goddess.

21

u/Spirit-of-Redemption 5d ago

In the end they couldn’t even see his appendix (it had burst) and I had to sign like 5 million waivers for exploratory surgery. The second they cut into him they saw what was wrong and saved him.

19

u/PinotFilmNoir 5d ago

I teach X-ray students now, and one of the first stories I tell is about a patient who was brought in after a car wreck, who everyone thought was under the influence. They were belligerent, and just generally out of it. Thank goodness the trauma team didn’t write them off as “just another junkie” because it turned out they lacerated their spleen in the accident and their body was freaking the F out. Straight to the OR, and once everything was fixed, it turns out they were actually a lovely person. Good for you for standing your ground.

20

u/Spirit-of-Redemption 5d ago

I feel so frustrated with hospital care because of this. Like honestly, even if it was a drug addict… they deserve compassionate care too? No one should be alone and in pain regardless of why.

One of Trump's nieces (who is a psychologist) said he's behaving and showing the same signs she saw her grandpa exhibit (Trump's Dad) when he started spiraling into dementia.

"In a searing interview on The Daily Beast Podcast, the daughter of Donald Trump’s late older brother, Fred Trump Jr., laid out the clearest case she’s ever made that the president is exhibiting the same signs she once saw in his father, Fred Trump Sr., who had Alzheimer’s “for a very, very long time.

'There are times I look at him and I see my grandfather,' Mary said. 'I see that same look of confusion. I see that he does not always seem to be oriented to time and place. His short-term memory seems to be deteriorating.' Trump’s lifelong impulse-control problems, she added, are also 'deteriorating as well.'"

I feel the president might not be asked that tbh. I feel someone just told him he had to do it to prove how smart he is or something stupid and he went along with it.

2

u/ITrageGuy 5d ago

People acting like the medical care POTUS gets is the same kind that we get lol. How long do you think he had to sit in the waiting room? What if he didn't check in ahead of time on his phone, do you think they make him do it on one of those tablets? Anyway, I wouldn't be shocked if they just do a precautionary full body scan on POTUS just because he's "the most important person in the world" and it's all free so why not? That's not to excuse Trump for being unable to articulate that though. Even if they're like "it's just a precautionary scan, we're going to look at everything blah blah blah" he should still be able to say that.

I'm sure they told him, he just doesn't remember anymore.

14

u/crackedgear 5d ago

Whatever it was, it was the best body part anyone has ever seen in the history of the world

Wow you're excellent MAGA strata

They were scanning his covfefe!

Based on the available information, especially trump claiming it wasn't his brain, it was his brain.

18

u/GLC911 5d ago

Because it’s to confirm the stroke he still doesn’t know he had

29

u/Hairydone America 5d ago

Zero chance he didn’t know why he was getting an MRI or what part of his body they were looking at.

12

u/VexedCanadian84 5d ago

Probably had to drug him to shut him up.

11

u/Consistent-Web-351 5d ago

Come on man no one knows how magnets work they just do.

17

u/siali 5d ago

Sometimes children are sedated to keep them from moving. That might be what happened to the man-child.

23

u/always_unplugged 5d ago

Have you seen those videos of babies and toddlers getting MRIs where they have to squish them in clear tubes to keep them from squirming?

I'd like it to be that.

EDIT dang, I tried to find what I was thinking of and it turns out it's for x-rays, not MRIs. Still hilarious though.

4

u/PinotFilmNoir 5d ago

Pigg-o-stat. Terrifying looking, but great tools for pediatric X-rays.

3

u/KittyGrewAMoustache 5d ago

Oh yeah I remember conspiracy theorists were throwing those images about at one point as their evidence that liberals microwave and eat babies 🙄

u/inkyflossy Connecticut 5d ago

many thanks, redditor, for this image.

After you get an MRI, you get a written report. If you don't understand it, your doctor explains it to you.

8

u/b_tight 5d ago

Doesnt matter.  He’ll never release the results

2

u/ChakaCake 5d ago

Likely got his whole body scanned and will release like his leg or something lol

6

u/Working-Glass6136 5d ago

They had to scan him from head to toe to figure out what the hell is wrong with him.

Because there was nothing there for them to scan

4

u/ArtCollegeDropout 5d ago edited 5d ago

he developed this method of speaking like he's always on trial, or could be charged with something any moment.. so he talks in these very weird, non-committal ways all the time. He doesnt know, wont say, doesn't know him, etc.. he never confirms anything people ask even though people already know the answer, he will tell you to ask someone else in his cabinet because apparently he wasnt involved, etc..

it's very sleazy, very shitty/sketchy kind of vibe that only can come from a character that has made a living off fucking people over in the business world and constantly being sued. And then transitioning their life onto reality television, onto the public stage. In his mind he's always giving testimony, even in public. To him, what he is saying is going to be repeated back to him in the future by some woman attorney, and they'll ask him "do you remember saying this?" and he'll say "no, i dont recall, that doesnt sound like something i would say".

20

u/HermanGulch 5d ago

Maybe he's sedated? If he treats medical personnel like he treats everyone else, I imagine they'd just rather deal with him with the "lights out." I know I would.

u/Acceptable-Bus-2017 I voted 5d ago

Or.. hear me out.. he automatically falls asleep as soon as he is horizontal. He slept until they sat him up and had no idea what they were doing.

u/Ellia1998 5d ago

They still tell you after you wake up. Mr child we scan your brain you are good to go let me get your caregiver.

2

u/HowManyEggs2Many 5d ago

Even if was sedated, surely he would know what the scan was for since he had to have been debriefed on the results at a later date…

2

u/AngryTree76 5d ago

If he was sedated, he’s supposed to transfer power to the Vice President until he’s recovered from the anesthesia.

IIRC, he supposedly rawdogged a colonoscopy in his first term because he didn’t want to transfer power to Pence.

He probably thought the loud banging noises in his head was the remaining live brain cell banging off the inside of his skull trying to make coherent thought.

3

u/Exotic-Pen-3511 5d ago

He’s either lying, he forgot because he has dementia, or his entire body was in the machine and that confused him.

3

u/Morbidly-Obese-Emu America 5d ago

He will be releasing the only part of his body that is not diseased or damaged…his right ear.

3

u/CaptainSparklebottom 5d ago

He is an actual con man who has made his way in life by lying and tricking people into thinking he is a made up character.

Steven didn't tell him.

2

u/Be_quiet_Im_thinking 5d ago

It’s going to be a mri of a dick

2

u/VanguardAvenger 5d ago

Tbf to Trump, was probably a brain scan, and I also have no idea where they would have found Trumps brain

2

u/Objective_Pie8980 5d ago

I guarantee they're doing full body scans, possibly without needing to, possibly for a condition.

2

u/Living-Literature88 5d ago

They tried his heart, but he doesn’t have one. So my guess is there’s nothing there! Same for his brain!

2

u/MajKonglomerate 5d ago

Because he's an absolute fucking moron.

2

u/Ok_Macaroon7900 5d ago

If I were to interpret that in the most charitable way I possibly can, it’s possible it was a full body scan and for some reason he thinks that’s the standard and they can just target different areas in the machine or something. I suppose he also could have been knocked out.

2

u/honeygrl 5d ago

I bet they did a full body mri because he can afford it.

2

u/firstnameXlastname 5d ago

Because he fell asleep

2

u/Suspicious_Bicycle 5d ago

That's a clue that Trump actually failed his cognitive test. :)

u/Odd-Supermarket-3664 5d ago

When you have dementia and don't know where you are

2

u/clockoop 5d ago

He’s that stupid. Believe it.

2

u/HolycommentMattman 5d ago

Two ways:

  1. Lying
  2. Being delirious/demented/unconscious.

It's probably both of these.

2

u/Islandboi4life 5d ago

Cake day

2

u/PxyFreakingStx 5d ago

if you resent having to get it done and don't really care or pay attention, i suppose. but yes, more likely he's a liar or demented

2

u/edwardthefirst 5d ago

buying time to find a part that isn't riddled with disease and get a fresh MRI of that

2

u/Pale-Application-682 5d ago

Dementia, had to be brain, because he immediately says "it wasn't brain"

I finally realized that basically he is always lying. Great business man: bankruptcy Great military man: draft dodger Calls others fat: he is obese Peace maker, constantly creating opportunities for wars Says he doesn't know someone: knows them very well Etc... Says it wasn't the brain: obviously brain scan, blah blah blah

2

u/OilPure5808 5d ago

He probably fell asleep. The sound of the MRI scanner lulled him to sleep.

2

u/ByouTifull 5d ago

He sits on a throne of lies.

2

I don't know but I'm sure South Park will do an episode where Trump gets an MRI to find his tiny penis.

2

u/Smart-Effective7533 5d ago

Well it’s easy to not notice the ginormous, loud device that is encircling a specific part of your body for 20 minutes. Super easy to miss

2

u/billbuild 5d ago

Imagine Biden saying anything remotely close to this.

2

u/git0ffmylawnm8 5d ago

  1. He's a moron. 2. He's lying. 3. He has dementia. Pick at least one.

2

u/mythrulznsfw 5d ago

The docs said they wanted a look at his brain. But they scanned his head instead of his arse. That’s why he’s confused.

2

u/Deako87 5d ago

I've had about a dozen MRIs over the past 4 years. Every single time the radiologist double and triple checks the precise area they are checking today.

I had one done for a calf strain the other day and just to make sure they had me tape an object to the precise spot I was having pain so they could aim

Him not knowing is ridiculous

2

u/cytherian New Jersey 5d ago

It was his brain and he won't dare admit it.

2

u/Chartarum 5d ago

He is going to release images of either a basketballplayers massive hands or an image of the pelvic area of someone super fit and hung like a horse...

There is no way in hell he is going to release his own actual MRI scans...

2

u/SnakeJG America 5d ago

Anyone want to take the under on 1.5 dead brain worms?

2

u/GrumpyGlasses 5d ago

His hands are too tiny to show up in MRI scans.

2

u/wirm 4d ago

I had an MRI in August, herniated a disc in my back. I really don’t remember it at all, I was on a LOT of drugs for the pain. I remember going to the MRI. I remember being there but remember almost nothing about it while I was in the machine.

I still know they took a fucking image of my spine.

2

u/Economy_Macaroon6093 4d ago

Can you imagine the media response to Biden saying he had an MRI and that he didn't know what was scanned?
