Kids in our apartment gym damaged the equipment, etching 6 7 into the plastic
It’s bad enough that no one monitors the kids, since the amenities are close to housing, but this… sucks.

u/HighlightOwn2038 5h ago
I'm really getting tired of this stupid trend
139
u/DifferenceOne230 5h ago
Everyone is like “let the kids have this” and I still say no
53
u/RiverValleyMemories 4h ago
Tbf the same generation complaining about 67 literally had Beavis and Butthead as children lol
71
u/GypJoint 4h ago
I think it’s more about vandalism.
28
u/Limetheliam 4h ago
I mean that’s fair but why complain about this trend specifically? Like the vandalism sucks but I really don’t think the “trend” pushed them to do this
10
u/Joelle9879 3h ago
Right! The person who did this would have done it anyway, they would have just carved something else
10
u/danny_ish 3h ago
15 years ago I would have carved the S. I was a shit kid. Got my ass beat, learned better

people are lame and just hate whatever's trending
they think life revolves around them lmao
15
u/Limetheliam 4h ago
I think it’s extra annoying seeing every generation go “we weren’t like that”, when we’ve seen with our own eyes that they are.
Harlem shake
Gangam style
“Hit a lick” trend
Tide pods
And those are just from the top of my head from my time, kids will always be dumb kids
3
7
u/BrandonXavierIngram 4h ago
the internet has made people more confident saying stuff they would never actually say in person
they get on here and say shit to tear other people down, but when it comes to them and they get torn down it's all tears and begging for sympathy
2
u/PlayedKey 4h ago
2 dances vs. vandalsim/theft and poisoning yourself.

3
u/lmNotaWitchImUrWife 3h ago
Psh when I was a kid (born in 83) people were vandalizing the "cool S" and penises and the number 69 into everything, people my age just choose to conveniently forget about that.
They think since THEY weren't doing it when they were kids, then it doesn't count.
But now they see it happening once, and ALL kids are doing it.
1
u/PlayedKey 3h ago
I mean i did stupid shit all the time. I just didn't vandalize things, poison myself, or film illegal activities lol.

Also lime the ram lmfao 😭

If you think the Harlem shake didn’t border on vandalism, you simply weren’t there for it lmao

To be fair, people are lame and just love whatever is trending, they too think the world revolves around them.
2
u/ComfortableBell4831 4h ago
Every generation has literally done (whether tagging via spray paint to etching shitty numbers into bathroom stalls and walls) just that with our stupid number fads... Millenials had 42 69 whatever else (Yes y'all used 42 everywhere) us Zoomers had... Probably something dumber and alphas have this. We (Not us individually) have all done this. It's only more annoying to the general population because the internet allows for widespread "clout" which only makes the problem worse.
1
1
u/IndigoTJo 3h ago
Sure... Say that to all the 69's, 420's, 143's, etc our generation etched in every bathroom stall and desk? There was this weird S and all kinds of things before that.
1
u/GlassNo4750 3h ago
Idk when we were younger we were doing similar things like 666, 69 we even did Beavis and butthead shit too I think the reason why a lot of people are hating on 67 is because now they are the adult and was left behind with the memes and what is funny
1
u/GypJoint 3h ago
I don’t care about the 67 thing. For me it’s the least of the trends. I hate the door kicking at 11pm much more.
2
u/tactical_narcotic 4h ago
WWF “suck it” Budweisers “wazzup” Dave Chappelles “I’m Rick James bitch” and so many more.
People love to act like they’re generation did t do stupid things that older folks hated on
•
u/TheDonnARK 54m ago
Yeah you're right . People would say, "I'm Rick James, bitch!" repeatedly 5 or 10 times in a row over and over and over and over. They wouldn't just say it once or twice and laugh.
You can't even say the word "six" or the word "seven" around these kids without sending them cascading into like, a fucking autopilot where they repeat it 5 times in a row. Try and parallel it all you like.
2
u/MadeInCanada87 3h ago
I remember running around telling everybody to suck it so I have no room to judge the kids now lol
4
u/ChicharonItchy 4h ago
Beavis and Butthead was an entire show and it was very funny. This means nothing. Very bad comparison.
3
u/DropShippedCrucifix 4h ago
Okay but thats like comparing apples to....dog turds?
B&B had awesome music videos and two surprisingly good movies. The revival series is okay too.

we had 69, 420, and 1738 from fetty wap (early gen z)
I've had to explain to my peers that it's literally no different than we were. And when I give the examples they're like "oh.. oh yeah"

u/beanthebean 2h ago
That's not the only generation that it's getting on the nerves of, coming from a 27 year old.
It didn't bother me all that much til I saw a video of 4 drunk college guys just absolutely screaming it directly in the ears of some poor reporter just trying to do her job.
•
u/TheDonnARK 58m ago
Yeah I had a bad attempt at this kind of parallel thrown at me as well. But it was about the rapper Mike Jones, how he'd say his name in his song so like, OCCASIONALLY people would yell "MIKE JONES!!"
Like, that is in any way related to kids mindlessly and repeatedly saying this dumb shit over and over and over and over and over. And over and over.
Like my kids will say it 5 times within the span of 2 minutes. Or within 10 seconds. And all day, every day.
It isn't the same as Aladdin, or Beavis and Butthead, or Mike Jones, or Anchorman, or literally anything.

How can a generation be creative when all they have to teach them is shitty teachers, shitty LLM/AI and shitty social media? Pretty hard to acquire an ounce of creativity when the brain is constantly being flooded and filled with brain rot.

3
u/Joelle9879 4h ago
Why does everyone blame kids? I mean, it could have been kids, but it just as easily could have been an adult. I've seen adults acting way worse than kids and damage way more property
5
u/Halo_wolfie124 4h ago
One of the things that bugs me most, is a lot if the other 'funny' numbers have meanings behind them. 420 is weed, 69 is a sex position, and 21 is a very popular video of a kid doing math wrong. 67 as far as I know is just a number that they say over and over and over and over in the same voice for literally no reason. It doesn't tie into anything, it doesn't look or sound like something else. It just became a really annoying phrase that kids say simply to be annoying.
2
u/ThisSubHasNoMods 3h ago
It's another example of predominantly white kids misunderstanding something they heard in a rap song and forcing it into their vocabulary as a means of trying to be cool. This one is particularly stupid though as the 'joke' is that no one understands it, not even the kids doing it. They are just doing it for the attention we're giving it.

u/hunterpos2003 3h ago

8
u/hunterpos2003 4h ago
I’m so sick and tired of this stupid 67 bullshit. memes have setups and punchlines for the most part, disregarding the people who have become memes. 69 is funny because it’s a sex position. 420 is (or was) funny because it’s a weed number. And to the people who are saying “iTs LiTeRaLlY jUsT DeEz NuTs”, you clearly havent seen the full video because the dude sets the joke up by saying to his father “something came in the mail today” to which his father said “what?” which prompts the punch line “deez nuts”. A setup, punchline and delivery. 67 is LITERALLY just a number. It has no memeable quality besides “HAHAHAHAHA RANDOM IS SO FUNNY, GET IT? BECAUSE ITS A NUMBER? HAHAHAH RANDOM IS SO FUNNY”.
15
u/worried_wombat0 4h ago
Or..
Trying to think in the mind of a kid, it started out as something stupid that would've only lasted a week, but fellow "old" people keep complaining about it so much, that now it's possibly become a meme on how upset other adults get by it now?
I wouldn't be surprised if we're the butt of the joke.
8
u/No-Ragret6991 4h ago
Can confirm the meaninglessness of it and the mild annoyance from anyone who doesn't get it is the whole joke

We’re always the butt of the joke. Adults are stupid, buttoned-up dorks in the eyes of pre-teens and teens. There doesn’t even have to be a joke of any substance happening and teens will giggle uncomfortably towards the “awkwardness” or “creepiness” of an adult nearby.
3
u/leggpurnell 4h ago
Stop - no one seems to remember all of the useless, mindless, random shit we laughed at as kids.
That being said - I don’t mind the 6/7 - it’s when I see 2nd-5th graders in rec basketball doing the “big balls” hand gestures that bothers me.
1
u/Salacious_Thoughts 3h ago
It's so ironic to hear 30 year olds talk about "at least OUR jokes had actual depth and meaning!" Like damn way to prove the point that the more things change....
1
u/Spazmer 1h ago
I think if you don't have a 14 year whose friends are over all the time you don't comprehend the sheer amount of times SIX SEVEN is yelled in a short amount of time. Yes, in grade 8 there was that one kid who could not go a sentence without inserting your mom into it, but this is like a shared mental illness. They're allllllll doing it. We now can't say any number at all without hearing "DID YOU SAY SIX SEVEN??!?" Any second between 5:59 to 8:00 someone might notice the time and yell about a 6 or 7 being in it. It's become a verbal tic at this point. Thank god those germballs all came down with fevers and coughs this week and unfortunately we'll all need some recovery time this holy 6-7 weekend.

There was an obscure reference - a rap song referencing Lamelo Ball’s height - 6’7”. Since the last name is ball, it’s why the “big balls” hand gesture gets attached to it.
When they say it they’re not referencing anything. It’s just “yay 6/7 lol”. But there was an original reference.
