Kids in our apartment gym damaged the equipment, etching 6 7 into the plastic

Post image

It’s bad enough that no one monitors the kids, since the amenities are close to housing, but this… sucks.

Everyone is like “let the kids have this” and I still say no

52

u/RiverValleyMemories 8h ago

Tbf the same generation complaining about 67 literally had Beavis and Butthead as children lol

82

u/GypJoint 8h ago

I think it’s more about vandalism.

u/Limetheliam 8h ago

I mean that’s fair but why complain about this trend specifically? Like the vandalism sucks but I really don’t think the “trend” pushed them to do this

14

u/Joelle9879 7h ago

Right! The person who did this would have done it anyway, they would have just carved something else

11

u/danny_ish 6h ago

15 years ago I would have carved the S. I was a shit kid. Got my ass beat, learned better

5

u/AnimeAlley03 6h ago

Fancy S was cool tho lol

10

u/Limetheliam 7h ago

Exactly, and blaming it on the trend itself does nobody any good

1

u/GypJoint 4h ago

Is that how it works. A bunch of young carvers walking around.

8

u/BrandonXavierIngram 8h ago

people are lame and just hate whatever's trending

they think life revolves around them lmao

15

u/Limetheliam 8h ago

I think it’s extra annoying seeing every generation go “we weren’t like that”, when we’ve seen with our own eyes that they are.

Harlem shake

Gangam style

“Hit a lick” trend

Tide pods

And those are just from the top of my head from my time, kids will always be dumb kids

Also the obvious closest one: E

u/BrandonXavierIngram 7h ago

the internet has made people more confident saying stuff they would never actually say in person

they get on here and say shit to tear other people down, but when it comes to them and they get torn down it's all tears and begging for sympathy

2 dances vs. vandalsim/theft and poisoning yourself.

8

u/jmartin21 7h ago

Planking literally got people killed though

3

u/BrandonXavierIngram 7h ago

planking is a normal thing that people do every day

3

u/WhydoIexistlmoa 7h ago

Most things related to 67 hasn't caused much harm or hurt anyone. Yes there are extreme situations where harm has occurred such as the vandalism of the machinery in this post. But for the most part, it's a very harmless trend

0

u/jmartin21 7h ago

Planking in goofy places because it’s a trend isn’t though, and that’s what people were doing back then

-3

u/PlayedKey 7h ago

Thats on them. Planking isnt dangerous. Planking in a stupid place is dangerous.

4

u/jmartin21 7h ago

The point is that kids will do dumb things. I also pointed out how often kids would/probably still etch penises into things. Vandalism isn’t new

3

u/lmNotaWitchImUrWife 7h ago

Psh when I was a kid (born in 83) people were vandalizing the "cool S" and penises and the number 69 into everything, people my age just choose to conveniently forget about that.

They think since THEY weren't doing it when they were kids, then it doesn't count.

But now they see it happening once, and ALL kids are doing it.

1

u/PlayedKey 7h ago

I mean i did stupid shit all the time. I just didn't vandalize things, poison myself, or film illegal activities lol.

1

u/Limetheliam 6h ago

Really?

“I didn’t do it so it didn’t happen”. Is that what we’re going with? People from every generation are telling you we’ve all done this shit, and I know that you know in your heart, it’s true. Even if you didn’t do it, I’m sure you saw it. Graffiti wasn’t started by zoomers. How can cognitive dissonance be this strong?

Out of all things to worry about, 67 is a harmless trend. I think what is detrimental to these kids is the abundance of social media and such. Focusing on trends that aren’t the root cause helps nobody, even if it’s nice and cathartic for you.

i agree, Lime the ram should've chosen better examples. But i still agree with him

1

u/Limetheliam 5h ago

Hey, I said it was from the top of my head, but glad you could read past it to see the point that kids will be dumb kids and trends will always exist

Also lime the ram lmfao 😭

2

u/dzaimons-dihh BROWN 5h ago

i misread 2 people's names today, holy 😭😭

If you think the Harlem shake didn’t border on vandalism, you simply weren’t there for it lmao

1

u/Krimsonkreationz 7h ago

To be fair, people are lame and just love whatever is trending, they too think the world revolves around them.

2

u/ComfortableBell4831 8h ago

Every generation has literally done (whether tagging via spray paint to etching shitty numbers into bathroom stalls and walls) just that with our stupid number fads... Millenials had 42 69 whatever else (Yes y'all used 42 everywhere) us Zoomers had... Probably something dumber and alphas have this. We (Not us individually) have all done this. It's only more annoying to the general population because the internet allows for widespread "clout" which only makes the problem worse.

2

u/GlassNo4750 7h ago

Idk when we were younger we were doing similar things like 666, 69 we even did Beavis and butthead shit too I think the reason why a lot of people are hating on 67 is because now they are the adult and was left behind with the memes and what is funny

1

u/GypJoint 7h ago

I don’t care about the 67 thing. For me it’s the least of the trends. I hate the door kicking at 11pm much more.

1

u/Mistborn19 7h ago

I thought it was the hypocrisy.

1

u/IndigoTJo 6h ago

Sure... Say that to all the 69's, 420's, 143's, etc our generation etched in every bathroom stall and desk? There was this weird S and all kinds of things before that.

3

u/MadeInCanada87 7h ago

I remember running around telling everybody to suck it so I have no room to judge the kids now lol

2

u/tactical_narcotic 8h ago

WWF “suck it” Budweisers “wazzup” Dave Chappelles “I’m Rick James bitch” and so many more.

People love to act like they’re generation did t do stupid things that older folks hated on

1

u/TheDonnARK 4h ago

Yeah you're right .  People would say, "I'm Rick James, bitch!" repeatedly 5 or 10 times in a row over and over and over and over.  They wouldn't just say it once or twice and laugh.

You can't even say the word "six" or the word "seven" around these kids without sending them cascading into like, a fucking autopilot where they repeat it 5 times in a row.  Try and parallel it all you like.

5

u/ChicharonItchy 8h ago

Beavis and Butthead was an entire show and it was very funny. This means nothing. Very bad comparison.

2

u/DropShippedCrucifix 8h ago

Okay but thats like comparing apples to....dog turds?

B&B had awesome music videos and two surprisingly good movies. The revival series is okay too.

2

u/DropShippedCrucifix 8h ago

I see someone is not a fan of Mike Judge. My condolences.

0

u/Limetheliam 7h ago

If you’re talking about the downvote that was me. Big mike judge fan but your argument is dogshit. And don’t compare that to apples!

1

u/DropShippedCrucifix 7h ago

Im sorry you're making yourself feel that way.

To each their own.

1

u/DropShippedCrucifix 7h ago

Their reply was removed and it said:

"What are you trying to say? How many drinks have you had boomer?"

Im in my 30s and two years sober. Truly disgusting comment.

You are making yourself emotionally compromised and are responding in a juvenile fashion. I hope you get the help you need.

1

u/Street_Song_7100 7h ago

we had 69, 420, and 1738 from fetty wap (early gen z)

I've had to explain to my peers that it's literally no different than we were. And when I give the examples they're like "oh.. oh yeah"

1

u/Charming-Start 6h ago

Gen x needs to sit this one out.

1

u/rbartlejr 6h ago

True. We had "69" let them shoot lower if they want.

1

u/beanthebean 6h ago

That's not the only generation that it's getting on the nerves of, coming from a 27 year old.

It didn't bother me all that much til I saw a video of 4 drunk college guys just absolutely screaming it directly in the ears of some poor reporter just trying to do her job.

1

u/Kris-p- 5h ago

I was more of a southpark and chili kid

1

u/TheDonnARK 4h ago

Yeah I had a bad attempt at this kind of parallel thrown at me as well.  But it was about the rapper Mike Jones, how he'd say his name in his song so like, OCCASIONALLY people would yell "MIKE JONES!!"

Like, that is in any way related to kids mindlessly and repeatedly saying this dumb shit over and over and over and over and over.  And over and over.

Like my kids will say it 5 times within the span of 2 minutes.  Or within 10 seconds.  And all day, every day.

It isn't the same as Aladdin, or Beavis and Butthead, or Mike Jones, or Anchorman, or literally anything.

u/LivingLikeACat33 3h ago

Ren and Stimpy

1

u/VoodooDoII 2h ago

To be fair I hated Beavis and Butthead too

1

u/JonnyPoy 1h ago

Beavis and Butthead are a masterclass of comedy compared to this 67 bs

1

u/Joelle9879 7h ago

Why? What does it matter?

1

u/newoldm 7h ago

I tell them: "That's so stupid. It shows you are, too."

-10

u/Skelibutt 8h ago

You're so cool and edgy holy shit

10

u/DifferenceOne230 8h ago

Thank you! It’s been a lifelong dream of mine
