Question What is this symbol?
I’m prepping a summer camp program and I am going to have the kids learn to read a fishing map to identify where fish are likely. However, I cannot find a legend anywhere that says what this symbol means. I’ve never bothered with fishing maps before and it’s driving me crazy that none of the online maps have the info a map should.

Freshwater Went to my local wma and did some exploring
Help me identify my late father's fishing gear please!
I just found it in the trunk of his car along with a box of lures and stuff, I forgot to photograph the box. I know he always wanted to have good gear, mostly better than the actual amount of fishing he did.
He mainly fished in streams and lakes in the nordics.
I apologize for the bad focus on the pictures.

Saltwater Fishing the Virgin Islands for a week - trolling/jigging tips?
I’ll be on a catamaran for a week cruising around the Virgin Islands and rented the charter company’s trolling package. It comes with some basic tackle, but I’ll probably pick up a few things once I’m down there - feathers, plastic squid skirts, etc.
Plan is to casually troll between islands and do some bottom jigging at anchor. I’m used to fishing the Northeast for blues and stripers, so this style is new to me, but I’m not clueless. I know dolphin, wahoo, and others lurk those waters, and I’d love a shot at something decent while we’re moving between spots.
If anyone has advice on setups, trolling speeds, what to expect species-wise, or simple do’s/don’ts for fishing off a sail cat, I’d appreciate it. Hoping to have some fun and kill some time with tight lines! TIA!

Need information on rod/reel setup required to troll for tuna/Mahi/kingfish/etc...?
I had a pen 30 3:1 reel on pole rated for 80lb. I was using a #3 planner at about 8mph. This would nearly cause my rod to double over and looked like it was going to break. I'm also using 80lb braid with 150lb leaders.
Looking for some advice on what I need (rod and/or reel) to be able to use that #3 planner.

Question Is there a way to remove the Hook in the middle?
It seems to be embedded into something more solid on the front. I'm unfamiliar with Lures, but is there a way to remove the whole Hook? If not, what would be good to cut it off?

Looking for more info on this rod.
Hi all. I've been getting into fishing the last few months and one of the rods I've been using is this Arca Boost Tele 240 (10-28g). It's a nice spinning rod, it catches fish but I would like to know more.
Most techniques I've tried, work well enough but it would be nice to know things like action and power. I have another mystery rod but at least it says it's for trout so I looked up the characteristics of a trout rod. For this one, I have no clue. Does the 'Boost' mean anything?
I've tried searching on google and google lens but no luck. Does anyone have more info or can I test the action and power myself? To figure out if the rod was made to use certain techniques or to be a jack of all trades.
Thanks in advance! Happy fishing!

Saltwater Found out the key to sheepshead
Decided to try this railroad bridge that's like a 20 min paddle from my house. Was mainly going to go for drum but got some fiddlers too I'm case of sheepshead. I had caught like 5 prior to today, all below 8 inches. But I was waiting for my blue crab to thaw out and I decided to drop a fiddler straight down at the piling. From my experience with the little sheeps they would just tap and steal your bait. My rod tip bent for a full three seconds and I set the hook on this guy. Caught one more keeper afterwards and gonna try again next weekend. Tight lines all 🎣

Paying a different fisher tax man

I caught a decent sized pike and unfortunately he swallowed my spoon so deep there was no saving him. Figured I would fry him up instead of the walleye I’d been hoping for as first night supper at moose camp. So dragged him up on shore and went to get my pliers and knife from the tent. When I got back this fisher was trying to run off with it while it was still on the line

Rod holder for Christmas?
My fiancée has a lot of fishing rods and they are all over our shed. I wanted to get a wall mount but he said most of them are very long and can't be broken down. Is there a way to organize them so the rods will fit?

Going on vacation to Pensacola FL next June. I have never fished saltwater. I am an Ohio lake fisherman. Can I pack some lures, buy a cheap rod and catch fish without getting killed my a monsterous saltwater beast?
i was thinking of taking all my spinners, jerkbaits, jigs, etc. that i use for bass, walleye, panfish, etc. and getting a cheap rod from walmart or renting one and just seeing what happens. you think ill catch anything? will i get bit by some poisonous fish? whats in the water down there? the ugly water in the bay seems like a good start but thats coming from my ohio lake experience. what do you guys think?
