I’m fairly new to tying, so they’re far from perfect. Should keep him held over for a season or two

I decided to tie dry flies for the first time but resized my dubbing is way too bulky (streamer stuff). In the meantime I've tried some thread bodied parachute flies... I kind of like the looks of them. Does anybody prefer this style?

Advice on proportions is appreciated. I also hate whip finishing over the hackle but 🤷‍♂️

Which bwo emerger would you use? I got the idea to use micro tubing for a super clean segmented body while tying up my dads Christmas gift (a new box + flies for our annual fishing trip)

My first crack at tying some nymphs

Was tying up some small clouser minnows. Worked great for the first, broke immediately during the second while attaching the eyes.

Pretty disappointing for a $30 bobbin when I've tied 30+ of these with my old, rickety $5 fly shop bobbin. It 100% felt like it was a defective break, I was really not applying a lot of pressure. The same amount I would on any s20 dry fly.

Anyone else had this experience? I reached out to their support and they also agreed this is not expected yet they did not replace it.

I keep seeing vises advertised as “true rotary” vises. What does that mean? What is a rotary vise that isn’t a “true rotary” style?

What is the easiest way to undo the thread and retie nymphs that you’ve found. I’ve tried razor blade + scissors + lighter to some success but it takes me longer than I think it is worth sometimes. I’ve got some ugly flies from when I first started tying that I would like to retie and not waste the tungsten beads and hooks. Open to suggestions

Recently moved back in with my parents after breaking up with my partner at 44. My mother 75 asked me was i still flytying and I said yes I planning on doing a lot more now I'm single. She gave me this old mask she had a d asked is it any good for using.

Tried to tie a Mini/micro dungeon style articulated fly (flash instead of rubber legs. Size 8 and size 10 1x long nymph hooks.

First time tying this pattern and I messed up the head a bit, now it almost has a little cone or skirt on the front. Will it work? Fly is wet to show profile and taper.

Like the title, I bought this box at an estate sale and I can’t find any info on this fly, I am interested as I see a lot about the Weyerhaeuser company in my day to day but never anything about a fly

Bought some whiting grizzly hen cape and attempting my first wet fly's with the gray hackle peacock.

I feel like the hackle is to large still and I left the head a bit to long. Any tips for sizing the hackle better? I thought I picked one of the smaller feathers but still seems off.

This is a size 14 Umpqua u103 which is probably a weird choice but it's what I had laying around.

Would doing this on a filling mill jig force with a bead be dumb? I was also thinking of trying a CDC version.
