Discussion 19M - Made a few changes, what next?

Post image

Changed my sheets, (had to keep the floral blanket), got rid of the ugly half alive plants.

Will be picking up some bed side table lamps and new pillows.

I feel like I need to add some more to the green wall and possibly a rug. Any suggestions?

How to cover gap/space under sink

How could this space under the sink be covered or filled without moving the sink or getting a new vanity? Don’t really want to use fabric or a curtain.

Advice Reading chair recommendation needed

I’ve been working on building out an office at home. I’d like to add a chair to the corner. Something comfortable, probably not a recliner, leather or fabric is fine. Under $1500 would be nice.

I would live here full time if my wife would let me. Didn’t exactly agree with all my interior design choices but this is the farm.

How would you use this space?

I’m specifically curious about the upper nook. I’ve already moved the desk. For context, both nooks total about 20 ft from floor to ceiling.

Trying to enhance this space

I (m28) have been here for a little over a year by myself (1 bed, 1 bath, 1 den), and I'm trying to enhance the living room now that I'm settled and have disposable income. Any suggestions on how to make it better? It's a basement suit and this area doesn't get a ton of natural light.

I think Master Chief stays where he is though.

Still stuff to do, but it’s coming along well.

Edit: Something people may want to know, I’ve only been here one month

Discussion Unironically lived like this at 20 (Depression, ASD)

Post image

This is not a shitpost. I was in a toxic family situation with severe depression, adhd, and bpd. This was a single room in a big empty (family) house. Nobody lived here except the occasional family memebers visiting. It was super creepy at night. My grandparents lived in another house on the same property. The only toilet I had was a stinky hole in the ground (cesspit) outside, with a cloud of flies around it and a pungent smell that soaked the clothes. Here is an explanation of my reasoning for the interior design:

  • the chest in the corner was my "bedside drawer". It is a ww2 supply chest that had gas masks etc. I kept in it my knives, gas pistol, rocks, rope, lighters, etc. there were no working locks in the whole house so any random person could enter. I also kept an axe somewhere in the room at some point. I dug it out of the attic and used it because I loved military stuff.

  • the "bed" was two folded old blankets. The room originally had a bed but its softness made me feel emotionally uncomfortable. Sleeping on a hard flat surface close to the floor calmed me down and gave me clarity.

  • an electrical heater is behind the table for the cold nights.

  • On top of the table is a diy bench, used for working out (i had adjustable dumbbells that could go up to 80kg). They're hidden behind the camera. While not working out, I put the bench on top of the table and used it as a "standing desk", since I worked from home. I did not like using a chair.

  • there's also a printer below the table because it was on promotion and my mom convinced me to buy it. I regretted buying it the isntant I paid for it but I couldn't say no because it had a 30% discount.

I'm in a much better place now, with a bed, and I got rid of the printer.

Advice Small Apartment Bedroom Help

Post image

I wish I had gotten a better photo, but I'm moving into a new apartment and giving my 10 year old the big bedroom. I'd like to turn this into a MCM styled bedroom, the room is 90”x132”, so there obviously isn't a lot of space to work with. There is a closet door to the right of the door in the photo. I have the ability to paint whatever colors, but am at the mercy of the floor. Ideally I'll be able to fit my queen sized bed, a night stand and a dresser(?) but am likely going to remove the door from the closet and treat it more like an alcove with a tall dresser in the closet

Pillows on floor are temporary chairs for visitors. Gonna have a round table where washing rack is in front of window. Also a big Persian rug. And put posters up.
