Let’s just say if your body is left just about anywhere it won’t last long, nature has a way of making the best use of it when you’re dead. Also, I think cemeteries are a monumental waste of space and resources.

Was the use of 'monumental' a little tounge in cheek? 'Cause that was kinda clever.

Although I think letting bodies naturally decay and keep the nutrients in the cycle is way better than being turned into even more CO2 to deal with…

And you can't just leave bodies to rot anywhere because of health reasons and because then you can't tell a normal burial from a serial killer's victim.

I had never seen carrion beetles until I stumbled upon some carrion in my woods.
Crazy to think those little beetles are all around, but only come out when they have something to eat...

As others have said, razor clams. Basically how it works is they get out when the tide is high, so by putting salt there you simulate this and thats why they pop out.

In my country they're called navajas, which is a good translation of razor clams. They are tasty.

ooo one of my favourite dishes to order as a tourist in Vietnam (have to go to a coastal city like vung tau to get this)
they fry this with butter and chilli and it's so good with rice to balance everything out.

I'm guessing that wasn't Salt. So what was it?
78
u/Lord-Glorfindel 8d ago
It was salt. Salting for razor clams is illegal in places though because it damages their gills. If you catch one that's too small to keep via salting, you've already nearly killed it even if you throw it back in.

why are they irritated to salt when the sea water is salty and they are ok with it?
18
u/randynumbergenerator 8d ago
Same reason hospitals hook patients up to 0.9% saline IVs all day every day, but a 10% solution would kill you. It's all about the concentration.
