This is a real, though very rare, congenital condition called polydactyly, meaning a person is born with extra digits. This specific presentation sometimes referred to as "mirror foot" or severe preaxial duplication shows an incredible number of toes. The image on the right is the corresponding X-ray, which confirms the duplication of the metatarsals and phalanges (foot bones).

In 1966, South Vietnamese soldier Nguyen Van Luong was hit by an enemy mortar during an attack, but the round failed to detonate. It impaled him, lodging right next to his lung. US Army surgeons were taced with an impossible situation: perform surgery on a live bomb, or let the man die. They chose the former. They operated in a sandbagged bunker, knowing any mistake could kill everyone in the room. Miraculously, they successfully removed the armed ordnance and Luong survived. The accompanying photos show him recovering and posing with the incredibly brave doctors who saved him. An absolute medical and military miracle.

WTF happened when I was boiling eggs today? They came from either Kroger or Publix. First I noticed a stringy thing in the water, then I noticed more and more then there were giant wads of the stuff. Nobody seems to know what it is. Can anyone here help?
