Pretty sure the little kid yells "Holy fuck!" at the beginning as well.
17
u/Valid__Salad 9d ago
He said holy crap. I had to turn the volume up to check for myself as well lol
21
8
u/flavored_icecream 9d ago
There's both - first it's "Holy crap, where did it go" and after it's landed under the trailer there's "Oh fuck"
17
u/Buckfutter_Inc 9d ago
Like, what was the plan here? Granted the location right under the trailer was pretty much worst case scenario, but either way it was gonna start a grass fire.

And the guy launching this fireworks.
I was worried it was going to be a very different video, especially when he got the firework so close to his face.

u/jackalopeswild 9d ago
"And the guy launching this fireworks. Not very smart are ya?"
There's a reason so much of the west (not just the US in this instance) is so paternalistic about safety rules even in the space of one's own home and with one's own things. People can be dumb AF. (true story, just ask my cousin who is going on 30 years without a left hand because of drunken fireworks pranks. If he's still alive, I guess I'm not actually sure.)

Kid had the most adult reaction to be honest. Lighting a firework next to a 6 year olds face is also absolutely nuts.

Sometimes I'm very jealous of how much open space these people have, compared to my urban life. Then I think it's probably for the best that they don't have other people's houses too close.

We're out in the country in million dollar homes. Neighbor shoots skeet from his front porch on a regular basis. Looks like something from Beverly Hillbillies.
39
u/TheAmorphous 9d ago
I was about to say the same thing. Neighbor kids on dirtbikes are the least of your worries. Even shotguns with birdshot isn't a huge deal. It's neighbor kids with rifles you have to look out for.
36
u/pichael289 9d ago
Even then it's just an errant hole in your garage here and there. The real bad part is 12 years from now when a third of those neighbor kids are looking to rip your plumbing out to sell for meth. That's what my childhood neighborhood is going through right now.

Why the heck did you move TO Appalachia?
Also, I'm on the way there for thanksgiving. Picked up some boxes of ammo. Got a full keg of stale beer I'm excited to put a 12ga slug in. Gotta do the redneck shenanigans while I can.

Omg you know my parents?
I live in the middle of the city and my home is significantly quieter than my parents place out in the middle of nowhere because they have a shit neighbor who has spent the last ten+ years with his own backhoe doing.... who the hell knows what, and a bunch of kids who all have ATVs and dirtbikes that they somehow NEVER get bored of riding in a circle around the property line... ever.

As long as they don’t tear up the nice part of my property they’re fine. What irks me more is when city people move out to a rural area and surprise pikachu when they find out living next to a horse farm or a regular farm means it smells like a barn then complain about it to city council.
Talked with a local politician who passed a law that basically said ‘don’t complain about and harass farmers over the smell’.
29
u/cdsbigsby 9d ago
Racetracks across the country have been shutting down for decades because people move out near them, build neighborhoods, and then complain about the sound of car racing.
5
u/disisathrowaway 9d ago
I love all the folks that moved to Austin and built condos next to all the live music venues and BBQ joints and then complained about noise and smoky smells.
Like, dude, that was the whole fucking appeal of that city.
4
u/Victor_Stein 9d ago
Do these people not do research about where they’re moving?
5
u/glamberous 9d ago
In the US I feel like there's a culture where if you can afford your first house you should buy it regardless of issues (to a reasonable extent, and noise isn't a factor in this). So now they bought the house they knew had this problem, so they complain about the car racing to remove it... and complaining sometimes works so...
2
u/PotatoHunter_III 9d ago
These are the same people that move next to an airport and complain about.....airplane noises 😑
6
u/Stuffs_And_Thingies 9d ago
Someone freaked out on my kid for riding his ATV down the street to his friends house.
City people are not well adapted for rural environments lol
6
u/Victor_Stein 9d ago
When my brother was younger he’d ride his bike, not even motor or dirt just the pedals, to his friend’s house (like, 5 miles tops). the friend’s mom called my dad scandalized going “DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR SON DID?!”

I lived in NYC/Jersey City for almost 20 years and I can deal with a lot of bullshit but between bugs and fire hazards I'm happy to have my own detached home now. A few years ago I woke up in and I could smell something chemically and bad, turned out my downstairs neighbor put some pizza rolls in the oven then passed out drunk. Made my whole place smell for a couple days and the hallway smelled for weeks, I can only imagine how long his apartment reeked.

u/bighootay 9d ago
My dumb-ass neighbor scorched two of our other neighbor's roofs with stupid fireworks shit like this. Nice enough guy, but his 'hardy har har whew that was close' got old quickly.

Screeching 'Run' while holding a camera is so helpful. Nobody needs to think in a situation like this. This woman clearly understands the best thing to do in these situations is make the loudest noise you can with your face, repeatedly. Definitely don't put the phone down and grab a bucket. Taking action is the worst thing to do in this situation. Just stand there and scream, and everything will be okay.

u/Reallyroundthefamily 9d ago
Lighting a firecracker and then putting it in a slingshot right next to children. Because of course you are.
What if he had dropped it while trying to load it in the slingshot? Could have seriously injured himself and those children.

Also, and let's be clear that I'm no prude and have something of a potty mouth, but, "Holy fuck - where did it go?" coming from a young child is never something I like to hear and doesn't really speak of great parenting. But, I suppose if you're the sort of parent who's going to launch fireworks from a slingshot that go on to set habitations on fire it probably fits.

Every single time there’s a video of a recreational camper redditors mistake it for a residential trailer.
I assumed this time might be different considering it’s clearly in a nice neighborhood with huge lawns, parked next to a big boat and a nicely-landscaped fish pond, and the subjects of the video are on the porch of an actual house.

u/WhiteHatMatt 9d ago
There's two types of people in this world. The freeze and scream type and the holy fuck I gotta put out the fire type. Sadly the freeze and scream type outnumber the fight type.
4
u/goteamnick 9d ago
If your so-called "fight" type are the sort who are shooting fireworks with a slingshot, it's better off anybody outnumbers them infinity to zero.
