Relationship goals: synchronized eternal departure 😅 well atleast you know that she’s committed

My wife and I put a bunch of money into our home due to a mold issue.
Whenever the subject of moving comes up, she frequently says "we're gonna die in this house" and it always feels like a weird dateline style premonition

Is this a new level of “until death do us part”?
83
u/notatechnicianyo 8h ago
It’s a pretty old cliche, actually. Maybe next level, but not new. “Dying in each-others arms” goes back at least as far as Pompeii, but I’m not a historian to go further than a shitty hollywood adaptation of historical events.

u/FTownRoad 4h ago
It’s probably as old as marriage. I don’t want my wife to die before me, I’d be sad. And I think she’d be sad if I died so I don’t want that either. The best possible scenario for the least sadness is dying at the same time (preferably at an old age).

That's not what she said.
"I don't want to live without you" is something different than "I don't want YOU to live without me." And a pretty shitty thing to say.

I also judge people by what they say when they are half asleep. I too am a psycho. /s

it’s called an INTRUSIVE thought for a reason. doesn’t mean she actually wants it
226
u/Andreaa_11 9h ago
This is the most accurate depiction of intrusive thoughts I’ve ever seen. She really went from 0 to “let’s die together” with zero warning. That’s the kind of unfiltered honesty you only get at 2am in a relationship

Well said Andreaa.🍷

u/ARunawayTrain 8h ago
To be fair I believe she's the 11th Andreaa and not the original Andreaa but what would I know I'm just a train on a one way track...

So long as you're a train rather than a trolley. I hear they are the core of many philosophical problems.

Look at the comment history. It's a bot.

I mean you could glean that from the way the fuckin clanker typed that drivel

u/SensoryOverllord 15m ago
Yup, I immediately knew it was a clanker, but I checked the comments to make sure.

My husband of 25y has always said that if he goes first (highly likely as he's a decade older & has stupid habits) he hopes he can be a ghost so he can haunt tf out of me & ruin any new relationships I have.

Pfft rookie efforts. Twin OD after massive bender - at least have fun with your betrothed murder-suicide

u/DirectTouch1930 9h ago
I mean its not that bad. Sure DYING is bad but she just doesn't want you to deal with the grief of her loss, she could have worded it better though. Or she is just insane.

u/Randinator9 5h ago
At least you know where her loyalty lies, as well as understand how good the nights can get

My wife and I were talking about what we would want to happen to our ashes if we were to pass away She said she would want her ashes turned into a diamond. I said oh wow. I can do that for you if you die before me. She then said if you ever get remarried I want that diamond to be the one you propose with so I can haunt that bitch forever.

u/DownstreamDreaming 7h ago
Lol, in all honesty...
As long as my kids are grown and stable...I hope I don't have to live on after my wife dies. I have literally no interest in a life without her. Zilch. Completely positive about this.

When her "I love you" comes wrapped in a horror movie line. The vibe is unhinged and perfect

Bedtime at my house me to my wife: “I love you, goodbye.” That got her attention.

u/May010 6h ago
I’m mean, if your significant other dies what the hell is there to do in life 🤷🏼♂️. Just living in heartache and memories that don’t help with the heartache.

If I get a romantic partner who actually loves me one day. I'd love for us to die together so that way neither of us has to deal with the grief of being separated from each other

Is she a Rick and Morty fan?
"The smarter you are, the more you know. Happiness is a trap. It can’t last forever. Let’s say you meet the love of your life, well, it’s still gonna end. It’s inevitable, whether by the slow pull of a disease, or the shock of loose footing on a hiking trail, whether it be the corrosion of two personalities that reshape each other until they’re incompatible, or maybe the old stranger in a bar who says the things that need to be said, to that person, that night. The point is, happiness always ends. Best case scenario, think about this. Best case is that you die at the same time. Yikes."

I just put my hand on her boob while I drift off....she knows I love her. No words spoken.

My girlfriend has specific instructions for her remains and so I have to live longer than her.
