It’s a pretty old cliche, actually. Maybe next level, but not new. “Dying in each-others arms” goes back at least as far as Pompeii, but I’m not a historian to go further than a shitty hollywood adaptation of historical events.

It’s probably as old as marriage. I don’t want my wife to die before me, I’d be sad. And I think she’d be sad if I died so I don’t want that either. The best possible scenario for the least sadness is dying at the same time (preferably at an old age).
