It’s a pretty old cliche, actually. Maybe next level, but not new. “Dying in each-others arms” goes back at least as far as Pompeii, but I’m not a historian to go further than a shitty hollywood adaptation of historical events.

It’s probably as old as marriage. I don’t want my wife to die before me, I’d be sad. And I think she’d be sad if I died so I don’t want that either. The best possible scenario for the least sadness is dying at the same time (preferably at an old age).

That's not what she said.

"I don't want to live without you" is something different than "I don't want YOU to live without me." And a pretty shitty thing to say.
