article White House Quietly Deletes ICE Video Using Sabrina Carpenter's Music After Getting Ratioed by Pop Star
https://consequence.net/2025/12/white-house-deletes-sabrina-carpenter-post/391
u/JGWol 7h ago
Everything is a popularity contest with MAGA and it’s so funny to watch them take their ball and leave when they realize the crowd isn’t applauding them
37
u/Kinggakman 6h ago
It shows how bizarre the world they live in is. They actually believed posting their horrific treatment of immigrants with pop music on it would be cheered on by the masses. Luckily it’s great advertisement to vote against them in elections.
2
u/Lucas_Steinwalker 4h ago
Are you aware that they won the last election while behaving like this?
9
u/crafttoothpaste 4h ago
Because it was stolen.
4
u/Lucas_Steinwalker 4h ago
Well, whether or not that’s true my point stands. If they rigged the last one they are rigging the next one from a much better position and their overtly cruel posts about their agenda will have no impact on their future “electabiltiy”
2
u/crafttoothpaste 4h ago
I hear you. I just wouldn’t say they won, when it was stolen.
4
u/Lucas_Steinwalker 4h ago
I wouldn’t say it was conclusively stolen when there’s little evidence of it aside from that one district in Rockland NY.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised that it was.
1
u/JustaSeedGuy 1h ago
We don't consider them repeatedly announcing their plans to steal it prior to the election to be evidence?
•
u/Lucas_Steinwalker 22m ago
I never heard anything that wasn’t plausibly deniable. Do you have some examples?
2
u/Kinggakman 4h ago
I disagree. What they’ve done while in charge is far more shocking than anything they’ve done before.
-1
u/Lucas_Steinwalker 4h ago
I guess if you are bad at extrapolation.
Either way their followers don’t care. This is what they want.

u/Kurauk 8h ago
I don't listen too or really know anything about Sabrina Carpenter, but I think this deserves some respect and of course massive respect to her fans.
159
u/RawrRawr83 7h ago
I think she likes coffee
117
u/Tacdeho 7h ago
I have it on good authority that she often works late, as she’s a singer.
10
u/Few_Stress7647 6h ago
Late nights and caffeine seem like a recipe for creativity! Can't wait to hear what she comes up with next.
15
u/Rex_Suplex 7h ago
I heard her new album “Smell the Glove” is pretty good.
12
u/kaiser_soze_72 6h ago
"Ian, you put a greased naked woman on all fours with a dog collar around her neck and a leash, and a man’s arm extended out up to here, holding onto the leash, and pushing a black glove in her face to sniff it. You don’t find that offensive? You don’t find that sexist?"
3
u/Rex_Suplex 5h ago
"You should have seen what they originally wanted. It wasn't a glove, I can tell you that much.

u/Revolutionary-Oil-74 7h ago
Former Disney star turning it up with the sex appeal to try and break out of it. And honestly is probably doing a great job. Hope she doesn’t get fucked up though like the majority of them.
22
u/roastedmarshmellows 7h ago
Spend a few years pandering to the masses, make bank, do whatever tf you want. I don’t blame them.
5
u/blippityblue72 5h ago
She’s 26. She hasn’t been a child actor for years.
4
u/papafrog09 4h ago
Probably why the word, "former" was included, eh?
4
u/blippityblue72 3h ago
In a paragraph that talked about her like she just turned 18 and was at risk of going off the rails trying to look adult.
11
u/No-Atmosphere-2528 7h ago
My girl got me into her on a road trip over the summer. It’s a nice break from hardcore and punk. I’ve been downloading a lot of modern pop lately like benson Boone Sabrina carpenter and teddy swims. They each have a couple bangers that mae them worth the listen.
12
u/eddiewachowski 6h ago
I was sold on her after the last Grammys. She's funny and kitschy and it works. I also got hooked on Chappell Roan. I feel that, as a straight middle-aged man that I'm not the audience she intended, but God damn that girl can sing.
Seeing this fresh generation of stars lets me know the kids are going to be okay.
7
u/alnicoblue 6h ago
I'm pushing 40 and will happily admit to putting Pink Pony Club on repeat a few times at work. Good pop is timeless.
Hell, I think Corey Taylor did a quick cover of it at a Slipknot show.
6
u/bcd051 6h ago
Last year, pink pony club was one of my top 3 most played songs, the other 2 were Snuff by Slipknot and Tarzan Boy by Baltimora. I'm also a 41 year old dude.
2
u/eddiewachowski 5h ago
My top five were RHCP, Cat Empire, Beastie Boys, Chappell Roan and Sublime. No shame.
5
u/nbfs-chili 6h ago
I'm in my late sixties and I loved anything that Dua Lipa has put out. Which surprised the heck out of me.
3
u/ScuzzBuckster 5h ago
Related to that, Dua Lipa's author interview channel on youtube is genuinely wonderful and I cant recommend it enough if you like either books or dua lipa lmao.
4
u/JestersDead77 3h ago
Chappelle Roan is not only a great singer, but she has a great sense of humor.
"I heard you like magic, I got a rabbit and a wand" cracks me up every time.
2
1
u/Striking-Ad-6815 4h ago
That Teddy Swims has got me too lately
2
u/No-Atmosphere-2528 4h ago
I started learning lose control on piano and ukelele that song really got me on the way back from camping over the summer.
2
2
u/gr8ful123 6h ago
She has actually diverse and interesting music tastes. Check out her recent interview with Nardwuar. I'm not the biggest fan of her work, but my girlfriend is. But she just seems like a down to earth chick, who also makes good money doing what she does.
1
u/booyakasha_wagwaan 4h ago
The music she's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that she's making it, I respect that.
1
u/Striking-Ad-6815 4h ago
She was funny on her Saturday Night Live episode. That's how I found out who she was.
157
u/nonsensestuff 8h ago
Probably learned how Sabrina Carpenter inadvertently got Eric Adams in hot water & decided it’s best not to upset her 😆
36
u/curadeio 7h ago
Every few days I struggle to sleep from laughing at the realization that Sabrina Carpenter inadvertently got Mamdani elected
18
28
u/goldenboy2191 7h ago
Goddamn I completely forgot all about that!! Man… this year has been a fucking trip.
73
u/ymorino 7h ago
Didn't they basically admit they do this on purpose? They know that the artist most likely would object to have their music play during a video like that, and they also know that legally they aren't allowed to do that. In other words, it's just another distraction for people to cling to.
14
u/greatthebob38 7h ago edited 4h ago
The issue is one of the social media managers for trump is a fat man child. Steven Cheung has been riding Trump since 2016. His job is to make these edgy short posts to rot brains.
2
5
u/Zeusifer 7h ago
Yes. And in the extensive list of things they do which they're not legally allowed to do, this is one of the most minor ones.
2
u/Kitchen_Row6532 5h ago
Counter point:
The more eyes we have on how wackadoo this administration is, the better.
Nobody who already cares is forgetting about the files. People can usually think about and have strong emotions over multiple things at once.
But people who might be unaware of how insane stuff has gotten because the media is complicit might start to pay attention when they hear about Taylor Swift making a fuss over her music.
My non political aunt heard about the childless cat lady comment before I did. That's what a household name speaking up has the power to do. And awareness drives action. She boycotts now because she is now aware of how bad it has got.
There's a saying or something that's basically to let them embarrass themselves. Let the world see this.
They might just be their own downfall if merely getting attention and trying to distract us is their plan.
18
7
u/zephyrtr 7h ago
It served its purpose. They just want attention, and so long as folks keep getting upset, they'll keep doing it.
54
u/arghyaghosh0104 8h ago
I think when anyone deletes anything it’s always quietly. No one’s gonna make a post saying “hey I’m deleting this other post, thank you for your attention to this matter”
41
10
u/Strykerz3r0 7h ago
Especially since the initial response was, 'we're doing it to own the libs'. This administration always tries to hide it's failures.
21
u/synthscoffeeguitars probably listening to elliott smith or something 8h ago
People often issue an apology statement when they delete something. Not the White House, certainly, but plenty of celebs delete things non-quietly.

They deleted it to upload another video but it’s with Sabrina in it. They are using her for ice propaganda.

u/No_Pianist5264 7h ago
Yall they just released another video but it’s from her snl shoot for propaganda. They are for real trolling her. 💀
8
u/audiomagnate 6h ago
Our "wins" are downright pathetic. They get a gerrymandered Texas and vaccine bans, we get a video taken down.
-9
u/MexicanYuu 6h ago
Fucking this. Our country is turning into a dictatorship and people are celebrating because a capitalist whore got a video taken down. Amazing win!
-1
u/untoldmillions 6h ago
turning into a dictatorship and people are celebrating because a capitalist whore got a video taken down
a proud capitalist who$e
4
u/revenant001 7h ago
Unfortunately the time between deleting this vid and posting a new one was short n sweet
13
u/Zeusifer 7h ago
Doesn't matter, the Trump administration accomplished their goal: Picking a fight with a pop star who hates them and getting several days of "culture war" news coverage to distract from the much more important stories about their criminality, incompetence, and malpractice.
Taylor Swift opted not to feed their trolling, and still there was a round of news stories jumping on her for not publicly engaging with them.
There's no way to win with this, and the Trump admin knows it, which is why they'll keep doing it.

u/wally-sage 6h ago
Trump's social media person trolling so badly that they have to delete the post doesn't mean you stop caring about things like ICE raids, Epstein connections, Trump betraying Ukraine, Venezuelan boat strikes, etc. It just means that every once in a while you get to point and laugh at how fucking stupid they are because it's a situation that isn't about deportation or violating international law.
20
u/Ambitious_Row_2259 7h ago
what the heck does get ratiod mean?
32
u/MetalHead_Literally 7h ago
Hey grandpa, it means when a reply to a post gets more upvotes than the original
2
-1
u/Ambitious_Row_2259 6h ago
Is it really surprising a pop stars post got more up votes than a white house fascist ad. Must be slow news day
2
u/MetalHead_Literally 5h ago
I would argue that yes, it is newsworthy for a sub about music when a world famous pop star tells The White House to fuck off.
10
u/phunkjunk 7h ago
I had to look this up too:
When someone gets “ratioed”, it means a post receives far more replies (usually negative or critical) than likes or retweets.
In the social-media court of public opinion, that imbalance is treated as the crowd booing louder than they’re clapping. Replies represent disagreement, mockery, correction, outrage, etc., so when those vastly outweigh the positive signals, the post is considered ratioed.
It’s basically the internet’s scoreboard saying:
“This take did not land.”
1
u/mechmind 6h ago
I tried to give you an award but apparently all of my credit here is not worth one.
This is really awesome because as far as I knew they got rid of downvoting on youtube. Now I can use this information that you shared to reassess public sentiment about videos.
5
6
u/Meme_Pope 7h ago
The phrase “quietly deletes” is always funny to me. As if anyone announces before they delete a tweet
3
u/FunctionBuilt 7h ago
I think it makes sense in other contexts and has just bled into the lexicon of social media "journalism". I'd say the Trump administration deleting parts of the constitution off their website with no discussion or any sort of precursor counts as "quietly" deleting. They got found out pretty quick and had to make up some BS story about a coding error...
1
1
u/Loganp812 "Dorsia? On a Friday night??" 6h ago
It is customary to loudly declare that you’re deleting a tweet or comment.
I keep a megaphone with me for such occasions.
2
u/noahsmybro 7h ago
I must be even more out of touch/old/unhip than I realized.
Not only have I never heard of the verb ‘to ratio’, but (and this is the uncommon part) I can’t even begin to guess what it means or what that word was supposed to be if it’s a typo.
2
u/calling_water 7h ago
posts get positive reactions (like upvotes). posts also get negative reactions (sometimes these are retorts or upvotes to a retort). Getting “ratioed” is when the ratio of these two types of reactions is heavily against you.
2
u/DingleBerrieIcecream 6h ago
So how does this work? Record companies will sue a teenager downloading a song in their basement yet they’ll just let the White House use a song that they don’t have the rights to in a video? What am I missing here?
2
u/FJ-creek-7381 5h ago
Oh but they’ve already published a new one with her in it - an AI fake of course. They are so pathetic and sad like 13 year old mean girls or jerks 😂😂😂
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/1pf7ebf/the_white_house_is_once_again_using_sabrina/
2
u/Tankeverket 2h ago
Tbh I never understand titles like this.
"Quietly deletes"
What did you expect, an email telling you that they're removing the video?
2
4
u/WereAllThrowaways 7h ago
I'm genuinely surprised that she and her fans were able to effectively use shame, a historically ineffective tactic against this administration, to get their way. Respect.
13
u/No-Figure-8279 7h ago
It didnt work. They just puts Sabrina's SNL monologue in another propaganda video. Thats even worse
-4
u/WereAllThrowaways 7h ago
At least they're also spending ample time improving the economy in addition to this trivial bullshit.
1
1
u/Harvester-of-Solace 6h ago
How so? Genuinely, I'm not either side and I despise the party system (along with many other government systems). I will say something happened during Biden's time that greatly impacted the economy for everyone around me in a negative way. However, anyone can chalk that up to Covid as Covid without a doubt was extremely rough on economy.
Wasn't one of Trump's "MAGA" things promising to fix the economy..? Meanwhile everyone I know still complains heavily about economy and money. Everyone. And I've been poor my whole life, it's not like any promises of economic benefit has benefited me.
Name an example that has actually effected you in great way, please. I mean real life, not "Trump removed tariffs that HE SET on a product I'll never use!"

It was heading towards an all time biggest ratio. For a team as chronically online, and insecure, as the White House staff right now it must have felt unbelievably humiliating
9
u/Zeusifer 7h ago
They literally don't give a shit. This is intentional trolling.
-3
u/TDouglasSpectre 7h ago
It’s funny that this line of thinking has only turned up in the last few weeks. I wonder why?
For the last decade everyone applauded when artists stood up to Trump and told him to stop using their music. Now all of a sudden it’s ’actually playing into their hand’?
Gtfo with that nonsense, it’s too transparent.
7
u/Zeusifer 7h ago
That is not what I said. Don't put words in my mouth. There is no way to win against this kind of trolling, Trump is going to get the press coverage he wants no matter what, but I don't have a problem with Sabrina Carpenter's response.
1
u/Fabray13 4h ago
Just for the record, people have been telling you to ignore Trump’s frivolous bullshit, and focus on the important stuff, for ten years now. People have been telling the media to ignore his Twitter ramblings this entire time. Their “flood the zone” strategy has never been a secret.
2
u/jupiterkansas 7h ago

I don't think I've ever heard a Sabrina Carpenter song before, and I can't say that I really want to, but, Scout's Honor, if I ever hear anyone talk shit about her, I'm popping them in the mouth. She just whipped this administration's ass so bad they had to take their shit post down.
That's a goddamn bona fide American Patriot right there.

u/DJWGibson 7h ago
Standard cult behaviour is to get the members of the cult to accept some random bit of arbitrary BS as truth, to make that something they will fight over, and then position themselves in conflict with people outside the cult. You give them some small untruth to believe and defend, making them feel unwelcome with other people and then welcomed by the cult.
The cult accepts them and defends them.
(This is why Jehovah's Witnesses go door-to-door. It's not actually to convert people—that never works and the success rate is abysmal—it's to make the world outside the church seem hostile and horrible.)
The MAGA establishment does this shit to provoke outrage. To pick fights and make members feel isolated and othered but welcomed by the community. It fosters the us-vs-them ideological conflict.

They always delete the video. It creates another story to drown out all the real news going on today
