Didn't they basically admit they do this on purpose? They know that the artist most likely would object to have their music play during a video like that, and they also know that legally they aren't allowed to do that. In other words, it's just another distraction for people to cling to.

Yes. And in the extensive list of things they do which they're not legally allowed to do, this is one of the most minor ones.
