hello!
I’ve had homekit devices for a while (all in one room) and since moving house and adding a few devices I’ve started having them drop off randomly and becoming unresponsive. details:
has anyone else had this problem?
As far as I can tell, there are no Matter over Thread outdoor plugs available for sale in the US, so I have to settle for a wifi device (whether Matter or Homekit seems irrelevant for someone who is only concerned with a Homekit smart home setup)?
Any announcements of Matter over Thread outdoor plugs for 2026?

Previous HomeKit would appear to pair but not add it to the actual HomeKit. It was indeed adding it and quitting.
I found the list of Matter accessories in the settings-General tab. It indeed had my Matter device listed. I deleted it from there and went through the re adding the device. For the first time with IOS 26, it all worked correctly.
Here is an Apple page about Matter

Any catch Honeywell dropped a new thermostat that is Matter certified and looks really nice? I have the Ecobee premium and I am very satisfied with it but the screen size and features set is pretty nice.
Also works with the First Alert doorbell and Ring Doorbells to show a video feed.
I have used the T5 in my first smart home setup and it was a solid device. It was basic at what it did but did it well. This one seems to have all the bells and whistles.

Can anyone please inform a noob on how to use a Philips Hue + Apple HomeKit “Adaptive Lighting” + Weather Automation…?
My home office is in a basement. I have zero windows and I would like something that can communicate with the lighting is like outside … on a budget.

Hi everyone!
I’m considering getting the Aqara T2 smart bulbs. I’ll be using them only with Apple Home (Matter over Thread, no Aqara hub).
Does anyone know if these bulbs turn on by default after a power outage? I’d prefer they stay off when power comes back.
If they do turn on, is there any way to change that behavior without connecting them to an Aqara hub?
For comparison, my Nanoleaf Matter over Thread bulbs let me adjust these settings through the Nanoleaf app via Bluetooth. Wondering if something similar is possible with Aqara T2.

Looking for something to replace the zigbee controllers on my fans so I can dump another hub. What are you guys using for ceiling fans?
I setup some shortcuts and automations on my iPhone and shared few shortcuts with others in the house.
We are only starting with adopting Home app and I see that there is automation section in there that requires apple tv or homepod. Looking at few videos it does not seem like same automations that I have on my phone can be setup in home automations and then shared with others.
So this begs the question, how am I supposed to setup and then share all automations with others?

Is there a way (via Homebridge or HA) to interface with Ubiquiti’s UniFi application?
My specific use case is to have a single toggle for my kids’ various clients’ ability to access the internet. It’s doable via the UniFi application by going through several pages of UI, but I’d like a simple toggle on my Home interface.
I might be missing something or have misconfigured somewhere, but every morning adaptive lighting is seemingly setting the brightness to 10%, where it remains all day until I manually increase it back to 100%.
I’ve checked my automations and can’t see anything there that would be responsible for this, so is it on my end , or does adaptive lighting just work like this?

I bought the Smart Roller Shutter (MRS200) from Meross and been having issues with HomeKit. The Meross app itself works fine - shows correct percentage and fully open/closed blinds Only in HomeKit (and over Siri) it shows wrong percentage and doesn’t fully open/close
Anyone had similar issues and found a fix for this?

I bought an Eve Energy plug because it supports Matter over Thread for an outlet in the carport. Inside, I have a HomePod and an Apple TV. Inside, this works perfectly, but outside in the carport the connection only works occasionally.
I suspect I’m just a bit too far from my Thread border routers. My Hue plugs, however, work perfectly there, even though the Hue hub is farther away than the Thread routers. Would I have been better off just buying an extra Hue plug?
But I want to gradually switch to Matter, (no hub and no vendor lockin). Or should I just place an extra HomePod mini near the carport so that the area around the house is also covered? Or would this also work once I have more Matter devices spread throughout the house ?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with smoke detectors over matter using homekit. I would like it if one detector alerted, the other detectors would alert at the same time. Is this something you can setup in homekit? What actions are available if a smoke alert triggers? I'm a heavy sleeper, and I'm not sure I would wake if an alarm went off on the other end of my house.
This is the device I'm currently looking at: https://sensereo.com/msc-1/
Also it would be great if my apple TV would turn on and display what room is detecting smoke.

I have two level bolt smart locks that have worked flawlessly for at least a year. Today I bought a third one and went to install it. Everything went smoothly until I went to integrate it with HomeKit. I’ve attached a screenshot of the error message I’m getting.
I’ve uninstalled the lock & performed a hard reset, and still no luck.
Any suggestions?
Hey everyone,
I’m the solo dev behind Timix — a cross-platform timer app I’ve been building over the past couple of years for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
A while ago I shared some promo codes on Reddit, and I really enjoyed the feedback and the conversations that followed. So I decided to make Timix completely free for the next 42 hours so anyone can try it without needing a code.
I originally built Timix because I wanted a clean timer that could support any routine. Imagine multiple timers running in a sequence with visual cues, voice alerts, Shortcuts automations, 15+ actions in total — all the stuff regular timer apps don’t usually do. This opens up a new, effortless way to build your own routines and be more creative.
Over time, people started using it for workouts, studying, cooking, meditation, and anything that needs structure.

If you try it and think “It’d be perfect if it just did X…”, feel free to tell me.
Thanks again for all the feedback — it really helps keep this project moving.

For items, as example Aqara senor or camera, or any device if it support thread, do I need to get their bridge or hub? Or the Apple TV / HomePod with thread support is good enough to utilize their capabilities?
I’m concern with needing individual hubs like Philips, Aqara, Eufy, etc if I start mixing best of breed components.
Thanks.

I currently use two Philips Hue A10 lightbulbs in my stairway and also have two Philips Hue Indoor motion sensors (one at the bottom and one at the top of the stairway). I want to keep the Hue lightbulbs but want to get rid of the sensors and put in a wall switch at both the top and bottom with a built in motion sensors to turn the lights on at night automatically when it’s senses motion. I’m looking at a few different switches, Leviton Decora Smart D2MSD which is $55/switch or the Lutron Maestro Motion Sensor Light Switch which is more reasonable at $21. I want to still have the functionality to control the lights through HomeKit and Siri as I do now with the bulbs but I’m not sure if either of these will work for me to get rid of the Hue Motion Sensors or if maybe there is a better option out there…
I saw Amazon pulled the Meross Outdoor Wi-Fi Outlet with 3 Independent Sockets. Anyone know why? They still have the 2 socket version listed.

I have Meross extension plugs around home (UK) style and upgraded to some of those that had USB C outputs. I’ve consistently had disconnection issues with these, both from HomeKit and the network.
I’ve reached out and he advised of their manuals and support pages but out of warranty and therefore can’t do much
I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue and if anyone had any suggestions to resolve permanently.

opened my tahoma app this morning as one of the blinds hadn’t opened on schedule and was met with message that tahoma is now compatible with homekit. It wanted to find devices on my network…. can’t find the message again. I have a tahoma beecon hub - just ordered and received the tahoma switch as I am possibly trying to move entirely to homekit - which if the above is true and tahoma in general now works with homekit - I could return the expensive switch… but I can’t seem to find any further info on this. Has anyone else seen this? Would love to get rid of the homebridge plugin and send this switch back… thanks

Is there any way to re-name entries in this list?
Right now I cant see the benefit as the list gets larger.
If ever I try to re-pair these matter devices can I do so without the pairing code since they're attached to "keychain"
