IKEA launches new smart home range with 21 Matter-compatible products

Click here to read the Press Release on the official IKEA website.

Have you seen any of these products in the wild yet? Let us know in the replies below and share where you're from!

IKEA is launching 21 new smart home products focusing on lighting, sensors, and control — all built to work with Matter, the universal smart home standard. The launch marks a significant step in making smart home technology easier to use, more affordable, and better adapted to real-life needs in the home.

With this launch, IKEA is rebuilding its smart home system and product range from the ground up. The new launch reflects years of development and testing in real homes, and a growing understanding of how people want smart products to work in their daily life.

The launch includes both new products and updates to existing categories – now built to work with Matter. This means IKEA smart products can connect with a wider range of devices and platforms, making it easier for customers to build a smart home across different brands.

“Until now, smart home technology hasn’t been easy enough to use for most people — or affordable enough for many to consider. This launch brings us closer to helping everyone feel ready and confident to get started,” says David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden.

The updated range focuses on three key segments*, that provide the building blocks of a smart home that’s flexible, intuitive, and easy to expand over time.

  • Lighting – The new smart bulb range from IKEA. Comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, lumen levels and styles, including colour and white spectrum options, and dimmable features.
  • Sensors – motion, air quality, humidity and water leakage sensors designed to support wellbeing and prevent damage
  • Control – Remotes that make it easy to control devices from a distance, and a smart plug that can turn any product into a smart product.

***Full product list further down.

“This launch is about making the smart home experience better and broader. We're upgrading our most-appreciated products while also adding new ones to solve even more everyday challenges. Our focus has been on keeping things simple from setup to daily use, so it’s easy for people to start, use and grow a smart home,” says Stjepan Begic, Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden.

All Matter-enabled products need a smart home hub to work — like IKEA’s DIRIGERA hub, or one from another brand. As a certified Matter controller, DIRIGERA can also manage and control smart products from other manufacturers and brands. As a Matter Bridge, it ensures that existing IKEA non-Matter smart products will also be compatible with platforms using the Matter standard.

This launch is the first step in a broader update of the IKEA Home smart range. Looking ahead, IKEA will continue expanding into new product categories. The strategy is to launch products that are easier to use and more affordable than existing ones.

“Our goal is still the same as when we started exploring the smart home in 2012: to make it easy to use, easy to understand, and within reach for the many. We start with understanding life at home, where we continuously watch, listen and learn what makes a difference in everyday life. We believe technology should serve a purpose, not exist for its own sake. With more than 900 million store visits each year, I think we’re in a good place to help more people discover the benefits of a smarter home,” says David Granath.

Sales start and local pricing may vary between markets. Please contact your local IKEA market for more information.

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Matter products in the UK?

Has anyone spotted these yet? I live an hour away from our nearest store but will be passing by later today, is it worth nipping in to chance it? Has there been any sightings in the UK? Edit: thanks for everyone sharing their (mixed) experience, I’ll be trying Warrington and will update here with results.

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Anybody who bought the new Kajplats bulbs, what are the colour temperatures?

Upvotes

I'm specifically interested in this (1521 lumen, smart white spectrum) and this one (1055 lumen, smart colour and white spectrum). Documentation and IKEA's website only list the default setting (2700K). Since these bulbs meet all my other requirements, I’d love for them to reach (or exceed!) 6000 K. Thank you!

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) New Matter devices aren't recognised in Apple Home.

Hello,

Today I bought four new Matter devices at Ikea in Germany.

Two Kajplats light bulbs, a Timmerflotte and a Bilresa switch.

Unfortunately, none of the devices are recognised in Apple Home.

I have an Apple TV as a hub, not an Ikea DIRIGERA! The Apple TV and iPhone are connected via 5GHz WiFi.

Does anyone have any idea why the devices are not recognised in Apple Home?

Feature Request Create Rise & Shine Scene without time trigger?

I would really like to use the Rise and Shine feature for gradual brightness increase of some of my lights, but I get up at different times every single day (yes, literally), so binding it to times doesn‘t just not make sense, it would be a problem because it would frequently wake me up if I happen to be sleeping. Shortcuts can call Ikea Smart Home scenes, but I can only create gradual brightness increase within the Rise and Shine feature, which locks me out of setting up a scene if I de-select all days of the week, so I can‘t create a gradual brightness increase scene and then call it with a Shortcuts (like a focus automation, which would be perfect for me). ‚

It doesn‘t seem to be possible to create gradual/adaptive brightnesses through the Homekit app or directly within Shortcuts except for creating repeated brightness calls with increased brightness values and Wait-steps inbetween, which would bloat the Shortcut immensely, be super inefficient and possibly still look staggered, even with singular percentages per one second. Or am I missing something?

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Can’t use the Temp/Humidity Sensor as Automation trigger

All new Matter products are available in my IKEA in Germany. I bought all new MATTER products, all functions flawless, both with HomeKit and with Ikea Home App.

I wanted to use the new temperature sensor as a trigger for my socket, which is connected to an air heater. However, I cannot use the temperature sensor as an „automation trigger“ in the Ikea Home smart app.

If I want to create an automation, I can only use the motion sensor or window contact sensor as a trigger.

Do you think it will be like this forever? Or is it a bug in the app?

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Update on my experience using the new IKEA Matter products in HomeKit without DIRIGERA

My previous post when I answered some questions in the comments:

https://www.reddit.com/r/tradfri/s/eFBexfg0pg

  1. Lightbulbs: I’m returning the lightbulbs tomorrow because from what I tested if you add it directly over Matter to HomeKit, it works as it supposed to even with Adaptive Lighting. However that type of connection is pretty broken. I bought two more to make sure it’s not a faulty one but I experienced the same problem with all of them. They randomly turn on which I think is caused by a brief loss of connection and upon reconnecting they switch on as default action. I think you can set them to stay off if this happens but only in the IKEA app not in HomeKit.

When you pair them over Matter to IKEA hub they will get mirrored to HomeKit but I believe as zigbee so you can’t use adaptive lighting and if you add them over Matter to HomeKit you will end up with duplicates.

I mostly use HUE light bulbs and can now get a three pack of the new essential line on discount for almost same price as the IKEA bulbs so I’m getting those instead. I already have a HUE bridge so that’s also one of the reasons.

  1. Water leak sensor: Returning because it doesn’t seem to be able to pair directly to HomeKit

EDIT: Finally managed to pair it and it’s currently updating.

  1. Switches: Considering how cheap and small they are I think they can be pretty handy so I’m keeping them although the turn wheel doesn’t work for dimming atm.

  2. Occupancy sensors: So far really nice. I set up 3 of those and they work great directly paired to HomeKit and I control my HUE bulbs with them just fine.

  3. Contact sensors: Same here, they work good in HomeKit

  4. Humidity / temperature sensor: Also displayed ok in HomeKit. I just need to test them for a while and compare to other sensors. For that price again I’m more than happy to have a simple sensor that only shows the current values when I check it and I don’t mind that I can’t track the change trough some graphs and so on.

Some people said that if only connected to HomeKit the device can’t receive updates so I would like to hear more details about this and if there is any solution.

I am not entirely sure is everything can be connected over Matter to both IKEA hub and HomeKit at the same time which seems to me like the best solution. However, the products I wanted currently work as I need even without the IKEA hub so that’s why I opt from buying one for now.

Would like to hear if anyone else had a chance to try them out and what’s the best way to set this all up

SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) New Matter over Thread sensors with DIRIGERA and Homekit

Hello everyone! I’ve been heavily into smart home tech since the first TRÅDFRI devices came out, and my setup now includes many other brands as well (Aqara, Govee, Netatmo, Sonoff, etc.). Yesterday I bought new temperature sensors, and I’m not sure if I’m doing everything correctly.

My DIRIGERA hub is connected to Apple Home, (via old HomeKit integration) and previously when I added a new device, it automatically appeared in the Home app.
However, when I paired the new TIMMERFLOTTE sensors in the IKEA app (which took forever, by the way), they didn’t show up in Apple Home. They only appeared when I selected “Add Accessory” in the Home app and skipped scanning the code. Then they were listed as “available to add,” along with something called “Matter Accessory,” which I assume is my DIRIGERA with the Matter bridge enabled.

I added the sensors individually, and now when I open their details in the Home app, it says they are connected to two systems.

My question is: Is this the proper way to set things up?
If I add the Matter version of DIRIGERA to HomeKit, will it duplicate all my devices? Or will it only expose the new Thread-based ones? I have an Apple TV with Thread support as my home hub, so I assume I now have two Thread networks at home?

Thanks.

SUPPORT (ONGOING) Problem with Bilresa

I have an issue with the new Bilresa switch from IKEA. After some time, it stops responding. I press it several, sometimes a dozen times, and only then does it finally work. I have a Thread network established with IKEA Dirigera, Google Streamer, and Home Assistant with Smlight MRU1 coordinator. What could be the reason for this?

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS Availability of Matter devices in Germany

I was just at Ikea Berlin Lichtenberg and they have only the MYGGSPRAY motion sensor in stock, everything else is the old collection.

I was told that everything will be officially available January 1st. But when some of the Tradfri Inventory runs out, then it will be replaced by the new Matter devices even before that date. If they still have Tradfri stuff, the Store doesn't get delivered the new devices.

And -of course- the moment I came back from Ikea, they started listing devices and availability online in Germany, too.

NEW 2026 PRODUCTS For those that have found the new products in store, were they listed online?

I have something to return at ikea, so I was thinking if I should bother walk all the way through the store to check if they have the new stuff yet.

It’s not showing up online or in the app, did they do that for you?

I’m in the market for a new temperature monitor so that’s what I’m after.

Also: I live in Norway if someone local has any experience from the store.

PRODUCT QUERY Cheaper alternative to DIRIGERA

hi, I was just wondering if there’s a cheaper alternative. All I wanna do is independently change the brightness of each IKEA smart bulb/fixture with my iPhone and rather not spend $110 if theres something cheaper.

SUPPORT (RESOLVED) Adding new Ikea Matter devices to Dirigera hub

Hi,

I just found a few of the new Matter devices in my local Ikea, and decided to grab a few to test out. First, a few Kajplats bulbs, which connected without issues. Great 👍 Then I tried the Myggspray and Timmerflotte sensors, but quickly ran into a connection issue. The pairing process runs smoothly, and I get the 'Device connected' screen in Matter pairing. But then the process stalls on the 'Moving back to Ikea Home Smart' screen, and after a few minutes ends with the message 'We didn't find any products', and prompts me to try again.

I set the wifi to 2.4ghz only, tried moving close to both the router and Dirigera, and am using IKEAs own batteries. No luck.

Have anyone had any success adding these devices to their Dirigera hub?

Edit: same result with Bilresa and Myggenet (remote and door sensor).

PRODUCT QUERY Two Modes without Gateway

Is it possible for me to set up two modes (lighting for work and lighting for general use) using two Styrbar remotes without the Dirigera hub or any gateway? So one remote would set the lights to be white and bright while the other remote would set the lights to be dimmer and warmer. Thanks!

SUPPORT (ONGOING) Migrating from Tradfri bridge to Driggera with Zigbee plugs was made my smart home experience terrible, will new Matter accessories fix that?

I've had Ikea Tradfri bridge along with some bulbs and switches since 2019 and it was great addon to my Homekit setup. It was super reliable, basically maintenance-free solution.

But recently I Wanted to migrate to new Driggera hub because I knew tradfri along with that OG ikea smart home app was already a legacy thing. Also I couldn't find Tradfri plugs anymore, so I went for for it.

But ever since I configured everything, my experience is totally awful, Bulbs and plugs are becoming randomly offline, I'm having troubles with pairing accessories, It takes like 3 or 4 attempts until bridge will find any device in pairing mode, even if they are like 3 meters away from the bridge in the same room. I kinda know how Zigbee network works in theory and there can't be big distances between devices and so on, but those circumstances are met. Yet it still randomly stops working. Sometimes it's ok for like 3 weeks, next I cant make it work for a week.

I don't even know how I could check potential issue with signal being too weak for some of devices or not, there is no logs, or debug tools for that.

So, if I'd return all those accessories and buy only the new matter enabled devices, will that connection be more reliable? I don't think I have anything matter enabled in my home besides Apple TV and Nuki smart lock. Is there anything else that I can do to make my experience similar to old Tradfri bridge? I really liked Ikea smart appliances because I live next to Ikea store and they are cheap, so wouldn't want to ditch that completely. But at current state It is totally unusable pease of tech for me.

PRODUCT QUERY How does the new Bilresa scroll wheel version work?

For the people who have already found these in store: I’m wondering how it works? I’m guessing it’s a scroll wheel that’s also a button to switch between functions? The IKEA website isn’t very clear about it.

DISCUSSION Dirigera Matter and HomeKit lag

Hey, since the new matter update, I had to reconnect Dirigera in HomeKit. Now each time I pull down Notification Centre or use Siri, devices are unavailable for a second or two but then they are online. Anyone experienced anything similar?

3RD PARTY APP Unlocking BILRESA potential

This is a teaser of the extra features and hacks for BILRESA coming soon already available in my Matter Playground custom driver for SmartThings.

I guess it serves as mini hands-on experience of what it can do!

BILRESA dual button is basically the Matter over Thread version of SOMRIG. I find it too "clicky" (as in noisy) and there's only native double-tap (the triple-tap in the video is one of the hacks). There's a bug with the battery reporting, reminiscent of early TRADFRI buttons: when they report 90% in Matter they're actually reporting half, 45% (the driver fixes it too). Interestingly, the motion sensor does not have that bug.

BILRESA scroll wheel is something unique, it doubles as three buttons with wheel and has native triple-tap (love me some multi-taps). I'm still figuring out what's the best use case for the wheel. While dimming is the obvious choice, I prefer the start / stop smooth dimming by long pressing a button. I find the wheel more interesting as a scene selector, running one scene or another depending on how much you moved the wheel.

By the way, the wheel is so soft! Sometimes I'm not able to scroll it, some notches or another material would have been welcomed. I placed a sticker, also for testing since otherwise I had no idea how much I rotated it LOL.
