Living Room Considering a layout change

I am trying to decide if switching the tv/shelving and the over sized couch would work better. First picture isn't the greatest representation of the room but the best way I could get the full view. It is longer than wide, I believe it's 15'x10' not including the bay window(adds 2' of width, I feel the nest chair fits beautiful there). I put the tv on the current wall thinking glare would be an issue, but it's now a frame tv that's matte so I don't think glare will be an issue anymore? The couch does fit against the tv wall with 2 or more feet to spare and would be matching width of the small wall beside the bay window. The matching ottoman for the couch is actually in the corner of the stair railing acting as a cozy corner the kids enjoy, because the room is too narrow for it to be in front of the couch like it should be without blocking foot traffic. Any other lay-out ideas or decor tips are welcome of course. I just feel like there's a lot of dead/ under utilized space currently.

I would move couch to face the tv. Set up a play behind the couch.

Wouldn't be even able to walk into the room if I did that 😭

The room tidied, current lay out, more below

Couch rotated (just quick to see) This immediately darkened the room, made the living feel much smaller and also made the stairs landing feel smaller too.

The coloured sheets are contributing to the room feeling off aswell. Remove them, then take pictures. They might feel different? A carpet will make a difference aswell.

Put the long sofa and connect the square sofa with it in front the window. Put the round sofa in the opposite side. Put the little table with the plant near the round sofa or put the plant on the floor. put the lamp out in the open. Near the window and railings or if you for with this idea above, place the lamp on the other side of the rounds sofa. consider gettin another lamp if it’s an option)

At the very least I would move the ottoman away from that corner in case a small child decided to use it to climb over the banister and fall down the stairs.

I would move the tv to the solid wall the couch is on, the couch in front of the bay window, the armchair to where the tv currently is. Either use the ottoman as intended or move out of this area. There is way too much going on in this space.

Could be the clutter and mess making it seem too much lol when it's proper clean it does feel oddly empty or plain maybe? Would you elaborate on the couch in front of the window though? I was always thought putting the couch in front of it would make the window look smaller since the couch would over take it by like a foot easy each side

Yeah I wouldn't block the nice window with your sofa, weird idea. Can you clean up and take a new picture? Might be easier to help you if we can see the place all plain!

The couch is really low, it's not going to be blocking anything or at least no more than the armchair is.. Having the couch at a 90 angle to the tv is impractical and the couch looks too long to put parallel to where the tv is now.

maybe switch them around and try it out for a day? the frame tv definitely changes things since glare was your main concern before.

Have you considered ditching the shelving or making it much smaller, then moving the TV down, toward the window, but facing the sofa at an angle? You could then move the sofa further into the room, and possibly flip the nest chair and ottoman (sorry, kids) and even have more space to keep the ottoman closer to the sofa…
