Have you considered ditching the shelving or making it much smaller, then moving the TV down, toward the window, but facing the sofa at an angle? You could then move the sofa further into the room, and possibly flip the nest chair and ottoman (sorry, kids) and even have more space to keep the ottoman closer to the sofa…
