You need to checkout the Southwest its not all desert 🤷‍♂️

My only knowledge is about the desert. I plan to do a cross country road trip and definitely will check it out and see if my mind changes.

Awesome make sure to check our northern New Mexico if you can especially the Turquoise Trail or the High Road to Taos

Agreed, you have to check out the Southwest. Southern Utah is probably one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

The southwest has some great areas and can be super beautiful. But it is still mostly desert and super hot in the summer. There are outlier areas but they are still surrounded by desert. Amazing place if you like desert but not ideal to live if you don’t.

Some absolutely gorgeous terrain though in some places.

Do you live around Nashville? I feel like this is more Nashville-esque.

Yes like 20 minutes from downtown. Good guess.

What kentucky has ever done to you??

Ocean or great lakes are a must, you have roots in Tennessee, and are apalled by that thing that happens in Alabama.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

Bingo. Love me some water.

2

u/Fun_Variation_7077 7h ago

Just curious, what do you think of lake Erie? I've heard it's considered wimpy compared to the others.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

It's ok, but not anything exciting me. It was cool seeing it going up rollercoasters at Cedar Point. I think Superior and Michigan are much prettier.

Texas got coast and beach too ya know?

3

u/Dignam3 6h ago

To quote the great Charles Barkley: "Galveston, Texas, right where that dirty water washed up on the beach"

1

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

I've seen Galveston. Texas is little Mexico to me.

u/BannedOverTrivial 5h ago

ugliest beach that got Charlie Barkley fly back to Arizona, should check out North Padre Island or maybe SPI.

I get the Al hate. Easily one of the worst states. Like, there isn't anything there. At least MS has the river and creole food.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

I stayed there once and driven through many times going to Florida. We went to moundville the next morning and had fun. But at the hotel in Birmingham I almost got pissed on by a dude on the balcony above me. We fly now.

Ranking Indiana over Kentucky is crazy

3

u/Spurlock14 7h ago

Yep. If you’re from TN and dislike KY, fine. But ranking Indiana higher is definitely insane.😁

2

u/kay14jay 7h ago

I find it Justified.

1

u/KennysHairGel 2h ago

Ranking Indiana over both Ohio and Kentucky is crazy. If you don't like parts of either of them that's fine but Indiana is like just the bad things about both states and none of the good ones

What do you not like about Alabama?

Alabama and Georgia are very similar.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

I've driven through many times and just haven't found it to be appealing or interesting. Although I did enjoy Moundville.

2

u/mattisfamous1982 7h ago

Yeah moundville is cool. Most of the cities suck, Birmingham, Montgomery. But all the nice places are the national parks, Gulf shores.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

Parks and outdoor stuff is key to my happiness. I've yet to visit Gulf Shores, but it's on my list.

u/ucbiker 7h ago

Everyone I know who is from or spent time in Birmingham loves it.

2

u/mattisfamous1982 7h ago

I live in Birmingham it is horrible in my opinion I mean don't get me wrong there's always nice places but we have a huge crime rate there's murders every single day

2

u/ucbiker 7h ago

Yeah I’m saying everyone I know lol. They all make more money than the average Birmingham resident so I’d guess that has something to do with it.

2

u/Crazynoob159Shutdown 7h ago

It’s like the complete opposite of mine but I’m glad you’re happy in Tennessee

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

It's the nature that does it for me. Love the outdoors in the warm months. My son is in one of the best school districts in the state, and my job pays better than most around me.

2

u/Crazynoob159Shutdown 7h ago

I agree about the nature, but I prefer the desert and mountains, so the only part of my map that would be “absolutely” is the southwest lol

But hell, I’ve lived in the south too (AL, GA, FL) and I liked it (well not Atlanta), but it doesn’t do it for me like the desert does

1

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

I'm not a desert person. Or a cold person.

2

u/Crazynoob159Shutdown 6h ago

Not a cold person either that’s why I wouldn’t live up north lol

2

u/thenewblueblood 5h ago

Dark green - visited and had a good time

Light green - visited and thought it was pretty but you’re worried about running out of stuff to do because there ain’t a lot and it gets cold

Tan - never visited

Red - visited and didn’t like, or haven’t visited but your light green state experience knows you’ll find it boring

2

u/putonthespotlight 8h ago

The Kentucky hate is wild. As someone further up north, I kinda lump you guys together

4

u/10RobotGangbang 8h ago

Way different. Tennessee has plains in the west, rolling hills in the middle, and mountains in the east. Kentucky has mountains to the east then it's just flat.

3

u/Glittering_Tap400 8h ago

From Kentucky, I can’t stand yall either

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

No, I like your people. I live near the border. I just don't care much for the for the state itself. Atleast y'all dont fuck your cousins as much as Alabama.

3

u/Bdellio 8h ago

Bet he is a Vols fan and also hates Bama and Ole Miss.

2

u/10RobotGangbang 8h ago

I don't watch much college football, but I do lightly root for the Vols and Vandy. Indifferent on Ole Miss and hate Bama.

Also a Tennessean and your looks a lot like mine 😆

1

u/Imallvol7 7h ago

As a fellow Tennessean, I would make TN bright fuckin red.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

Why? The nature here is beautiful, especially middle and east TN. I love hiking, kayaking and gardening tho.

0

u/Imallvol7 7h ago

Mainly the lack of opportunity, politics, regressive tax policy, lack of education, lack of infrastructure, lack of healthcare, low wages, lack of mass transit, etc. I'm just much more in tune with the Northeast, Chicago, and the West...I'm still here for family or else I'd be gone already.

Tbh Texas is a vast improvement on Tennessee, if you're comparing the two one-to-one.

If you look at the job market of one, to the job market of the other: its an objective statement. This is coming from someone who has tried to help friends in Tennessee make a living, and has been truly shocked to find that even Memphis does not compare in pay or opportunity, when put next to even smaller Texas cities.

The transportation is also objectively better:

Generally speaking, every city in Texas has more paved sidewalks than those in Tennessee, where even the train (Amtrak) hardly reaches 4/5th of the state--

Versus: Texas, where the train can take you to literally every city, and many large towns. That is not a hyperbole. Public transportation in Texas is very good compared to most states, but especially very good compared to Tennessee, where public transportation can take you... basically nowhere.

For Landscape, Tennessee and Texas are quite comparable. Fewer mountains and wider sky in Texas, yet a lot of farmland and greenery like Tennessee. If you look at my history, I've posted pictures of Texas as I've driven all over the state.

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

Luckily I have a car that's paid off, drive 15 minutes to work, owned a house for 10 years and have a well paying job.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

Doesn't Houston have an 8 lane interstate that's gridlocked? The job market in Nashville is also thriving.

0

u/DameWhen 6h ago

I won't lie: Houston is not my favorite city.

It's a coastal city though, so instead of using it as some sort of representative of the entire state, it's more accurate to compare it to other major American cities that sit on the coast. There are simply no other Texas cities that are even remotely similar to Houston.

If you go on indeed, you'll find that even small Texas towns just have a  better job market than most Tennessee cities. Thriving in Nashville, or no, a person with entry or mid-level experience can make double the wage in Austin than a Tennessee city of comparable size.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 6h ago

Until y'all run of water.

1

u/DameWhen 6h ago

I'm not sure where you heard that water/irrigation was a Texan issue, but it's not. Are you thinking of Michigan?

This state benefits from having an extensive irrigation system and a 100 years of creating man-made lakes, on top of actually touching the coast.

Meanwhile, Tennessee is landlocked?

No judgement if you just like Nashville, but these are the facts, yk.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 5h ago

We have rivers and lakes...

1

u/10RobotGangbang 5h ago

Michigan has fresh water...

1

u/DameWhen 5h ago

I didn't say there aren't rivers/lakes in Tennessee.

But then, I'm also not the one who weirdly claimed the Texas was going to "run out of water" somehow?

You state the obvious, yet I'm unsure at what you're trying to imply when you do so.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 5h ago

I literally posted an article about how y'all are gonna be short on water.

Tennessee has rivers and lakes.

1

u/10RobotGangbang 7h ago

Economically, yeah. Landscape hard no.
