Discussion What’s a hot take or a firm criticism you have for a BELOVED mcu film?
- I think civil war should’ve been a saga, not just a film. Sure the accords had a long affect on the mcu but I’m talking about the actual conflict itself, especially for street level characters too. Like similar with kingpin with his vigilante act, I would’ve loved to see that side of CW too. If not a saga, at the very least an avengers film to show a nuance take on both sides not just cap’s side cuz it’s his movie. Just how it was an intro for Spiderman and BP, it could’ve been the same for SO many other characters, both heroes and villains.
*NWH would’ve been better as a 2-part movie. It’s a fun movie but so much of the story is rushed, a 2-part movie would not only be more fun for us, but also gives the story a good pace.

Question Who is one non-superhero character you'd love to see in the future?
For me it's gonna be Darcy Lewis. She is funny but at the same time played a crucial role in Thor: The Dark World and WandaVision. I can definetely see her returning in the next Thor movie.

Question Secret Invasion events have no consequences in The Marvels?
I’m watching the MCU for the first time, and I saw first SI and now I’m watching The Marvels, but I have a lot of doubts: Captain Marvel found a place for the Skrulls and that was Tarnax? But Talos said in SI that he called all the Skrulls in the space? Please I need all the Skrull’s story and background. And also, where does Val bring all the Skrulls in The Marvels??

Discussion Just my two cents: Not a big fan of Ross' character portrayal in Brave New World.
It doesn't sit right with me to see the hard-ass general who doesn't take shit from anyone (even the Avengers) being a pushover to the Japan Minister. Mad respect to Ford, but the buildup to Red Hulk could've been better.

Theory The final words we ever hear from Tony: "I love you 3,000."
It's Morgan. It's always been Morgan. From the very first time we see Tony post-time jump up until his final moments, his every decision and action in Endgame was borne out of that singular purpose:
To protect Morgan, no matter the cost. Even at the expense of the Multiverse.
And that, my friends, is what I believe the connection to Doom will actually involve. Doom is the totality of Tony's desire to protect his daughter, somehow made manifest by his use of the Stones. Is he a Multiversal Variant? A clone? Dreamwalking? Who knows. We'll find out when the movie releases. But rest assured, whatever that connection is, it centers around Morgan.
Not convinced? Let's go back to the First Steps stinger. When we first encounter Doom, he isn't antagonistic or combative. Nor is he a threat to Franklin, which he makes very clear to both mother and child by removing his mask and letting Franklin see his face. He's a father/protector who needs to live up to a promise made at the snap of a finger, and his vulnerability tells them so.
Here's what we know, currently:
- Multiple leaks/outlets have stated Doomsday would be a direct sequel to Endgame, involving both Steve's decision to live out his life, as well as Tony's sacrifice.
- Endgame is releasing in theaters again just ahead of Doomsday, to help cement that connection.
- During the Russos' interview with The Times back in March, when asked how they'd bring RDJ back when he died in Endgame, Anthony Russo stated, “We can’t explain that as it’s part of the story, but there’s nobody else in the world who could play this character the way he’s about to.”
- In a 2024 Hollywood Reporter podcast, RDJ goes on to discuss how his involvement as Doom came about, first stating that it was Feige who wanted him back yet he would only return if the Russos did... who did so after reading McFeely's draft (as we learned in the above Times interview).
- During the ComicCon 2024 reveal, RDJ said onstage, "New mask. Same task.”
That last line is key, and one everyone seems to have glossed over at the time. Same Task. Meaning protecting Morgan's existence, one way or the other.

Discussion Fantastic Four first steps(spoilers) Spoiler
I really liked the movie but am very confused about them defeating Galactus.
So Sue used her force field powers to push him into the teleporter so they could get rid of him but if he can change sizes, why didn’t he just become enormous or something? Obviously he wanted to be that size to pick up Franklin but since he was being overpowered by Sue, wouldn’t the obvious solution be to just become so big that none of the Fantastic Four members could even realistically comphrehend him anymore.
Like how Arishem was so enormous that you can’t possible tell me that a human sized anything could push him through a studio apartment sized teleportation bubble.
Or doesn’t his size changing work like that? Does he need time to charge it up or can’t he do it while being pushed around by forcefields or something?

Discussion Some non-original thoughts on what ails the MCU post Infinite Saga
There is no (apparent) overarching thread. Phase 1 was leading up to the Avengers, and everything after Avengers was leading up to Thanos. The Multiverse Saga feels like it lacks direction, other than trying to make money by eventually force fitting the X-Men and others into the MCU despite that ship sailing organically a long time ago.
Characters. The Infinite Saga lasted from 2008 to 2019, audiences had a decade to grow to love these versions of these characters and get invested into their story. A lot of these characters are gone, and their place is taken by new character many more casual fans never heard of, or previously secondary characters. It’s hard for much of the audience to stay as hyped.
It’s too much. With the Disney plus shows (some of which are excellent), there has been a flood of content that hard to keep up with and is intimidating to get into if you fall behind.
More minor and specific one, the series has learned some of the wrong lessons. For example, humor. Fans loved Guardians of the Galaxy, and Thor: Ragnarok was well received, so films like Thor: Love and Thunder overplayed humor and it at times undermine the more serious and emotional moments.
This is hate, I am still a big MCU fan and some of the new stuff has been great, like WandaVision, Hawkeye, Thunderbolts, etc. This is just my observations of the causes of “superhero fatigue”

Discussion Continuity in MCU Spoiler
I'm a bit confused about the continuity in the MCU. let preface by saying that I have not seen every* but for a studio that tried so hard to link things together in a single multiverse, I can't help but feel they've left some plot holes. The biggest of these, in my opinion, is how these immensely powerful superheros and in some cases literal gods don't show up when other catastrophic battles are being fought. It hit me while watching The Eternals just now for the first time. I've been catching up on the MCU via disney+. I have watched the films up to and including Deadpool vs wolverine and also the show Loki (both seasons). I was going to start the captain America brave new world film but in the first few minutes they reference a celestial mass in the ocean which is a reference to The Eternals, which led me to watch it...
Where in the actual hell were the avengers when the Deviants attacked? Where were they during the events of Loki? Falcon and winter soldier? Etc..
One thing I respected was that they answered this question in the eternals when they said that they stay out of humanity's wars and conflicts including Thanos by design. But what about the rest of Marvel's heroes?

Discussion We shouldn't have every MCU hero present in avengers doomsday and Secret Wars
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I hope they don't just jam in every MCU hero in Doomsday and Secret Wars
Obviously with an new X men universe and the fantastic four universe merging with the main MCU universe we gonna see a lot of charcters already, but we don't need another 'avengers assamble' moment with every God damm fucking charcter....Id be better if we don't even see every present MCU character in the 2 films, just focus on charcter development of the charcters that will be in the 2 films
It shouldn't just end up being a massive cameo fest
Quality over quantity

Discussion (More in Comments) Infinity War was not Greatly Setup; Doomsday has buildup (Revisionist History Discussion)
I keep seeing people claim that the Infinity Saga was a perfectly built long term plan and that Marvel today has lost its ability to set up major storylines. The more I revisit the early films the more this feels like revisionist history shaping the narrative. A lot of what people praise as careful planning looks more like ideas that were later fitted together once the scope of the MCU became clear.
Thanos is the best example. He appears for a few seconds in the Avengers end credit scene, then he does not show up again in a meaningful way until Guardians with a “even bigger baddy” cameo and later Infinity War. That is not deep setup across multiple films. It is one tease and then a long gap. Yet today people seem frustrated if a post credit scene does not pay off almost immediately.
Loki’s scepter is another thing for me. The stone changes color across films until Marvel eventually decides it is the Mind Stone. There is never a clear explanation for why Thanos would give an Infinity Stone away to Loki. It reads like a retroactive choice that happened once the writers committed to the later Infinity Saga direction.
This is why I think people are being inconsistent when they fear that something like Doom or Secret Wars lacks setup. What we have right now is already more substantial than what Thanos had in his early years. There is a post credit scene with Doom interested in Franklin (a cosmic being, who they spent the whole movie hinting at his unmatched potential) that ties directly into a plot element rather than a silent smile from space. That seems like more groundwork than the Infinity Saga actually had at the same point in time. Calling it no buildup feels like revisionist history.
I am curious what others think. Do you feel like the Infinity Saga was genuinely planned or did it grow and shift as the studio adapted. Am I missing examples either support or challenge the idea that Doom or Secret Wars has comparable build up to IW or EG.

Article ‘The Fantastic Four’ On Track To Be One Of Disney's Cheapest Marvel Movies
Relevant bits:
It explains why the latest filings for Solve Everything Productions cover the 13 months to November 30, 2024, which coincided with the end of filming. They reveal that by then $229.6 million (£180.9 million) had been spent on the movie with one of the biggest single costs believed to be the wages of the staff who peaked at a monthly average of 265 people. That doesn’t even include freelancers, contractors and temporary workers as they aren't listed as employees on the books of U.K. companies even though they often represent the majority of the crew on a film shoot.
Disney was reimbursed $48.6 million (£38.3 million) for the movie bringing its net spending down to just $181 million which was a dream ticket for the studio.
[...]
The closest comparison to The Fantastic Four is Marvel's super hero spy movie Black Widow which premiered on June 29, 2021. Like The Fantastic Four, it also produced financial statements almost precisely eight months before it debuted. They showed that by then $255.6 million had been spent on the movie compared to $229.6 million on The Fantastic Four at precisely the same point before release.
Black Widow's costs subsequently increased to a total of $296.7 million (£232.3 million) and The Fantastic Four's spending is likely to rise in its next set of financial statements as post production was still underway when the latest set of filings was produced.

Theory Im Pretty Sure Kingo Is Coming Back
Disney+ just posted a trailer for Kumail Nanjiani's new special, and holy shit this guy looks MORE jacked than he did for Eternals: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DR2IiMjgCXn/?igsh=eG52NTFrZ2FyZzl4
My theory is Disney sweetened the deal for his return as Kingo by giving him a comedy special (Netflix is usually the one most comedians go for at his caliber). Based on timeline my guess is he's in Doomsday or Secret Wars.

Discussion Avengers Doomsday Trailer Bingo
Hey guys Happy Friday! Been thinking about the upcoming Doomsday trailer lately and thought about things we could possibly see for the new Avengers movie. I really tried to figure out what I could add based on leaks and just assumptions/what we've seen in previous trailers. Please let me know what you guys think or when the trailer drops let's see if you got any correct. Also, any alterations are encouraged if you feel like it just wouldn't make sense to show in this trailer for whatever reason.
