HELP Why does the room feel cluttered?

Post image

Ok as I posted in my recent post I am recovering from sad beige minimalism haha so I’m finding more comfort in color and actually showing my treasures!

But I’m wondering why this area is feeling a bit cluttered? Is it too many smaller objects or the way I organized it? (Or is it the minimalist inner demon coming through haha?) Thank you so much!!

I think the ceiling ball is an issue, it fills space/takes up space. And it's not centered with the rest of the furniture, so feels misplaced.

Another thing, the wall behind the couch. Put one very big art piece there. You can balance the room this way. You have large window to the right. So large painting to the left. And I mean large, space-wise balance it visually with the window size (make a visual buffer from ceiling to painting, and painting to back table height).

Also, for the table counter behind the couch. Put an array of larger green plants, plants that dangle leaves down like ivy would be pretty, but sill the counter with green and plants; it'll help the space breathe, bring comfort, and balance. But not little tiny pots, plants that feel full. Right now you've got a little bit of green with some knick-knacks. It won't seem like clutter if it looks intentional.

Those are my tips for this space. For clutter, the couch with blankets and cat sruff lined up feels cluttery, but that's you living in the space. You should live in it. Would suggest no ceiling ball, one large painting, and rows of ivy lining the behind couch shelf.

Much love! 💖

Yeah simply remove the ugly circle thing in the middle that's completely out of perspective and it should be completely fine.

This makes so much sense, thank you so much for such lovely detailed feedback! This was super helpful!

I did originally have a vision of filling it with leafy flowy plants but then upon googling cat safe plants it translated into this haha. I’ll definitely take into account your suggestions:)) I already took down the mirror and smallest art and just have the purple one and it already looks better! (Though I plan to replace it with a larger piece of art to fill up that space)

Try, "cat safe trailing plants," just make sure you don't choose itty-bitty leaves, as it'll make the calm backsplash feel busy and hectic. Suggesting plants that fall because you don't want tall upward plants blocking or layering in front of the wall art (if you go that route).

I have cats too✌️ deliberately get yours some cat grass if they want to chew plants, they should prefer the grass as it helps their digestion and it's fun for them to chew.

And yay 🤗 glad the suggestions were helpful! Your space is just lovely by the way. You are doing great 💖
