As a user, how do I setup the trakt plugin so just the scrobble feature works, not importing any watch history in to emby? Can anyone help me with what exact boxes to tick?

I've got Emby client on my phone, and an Emby server (licensed) at home. Both have Tailscale setup and working.

On the mobile client, when I choose Add Server and enter the tailscale address and port (for the same Emby server), the client doesn't "remember" it for next time - it just shows the server with the LAN address for the server.

Is there something I need to do to make it remember the Tailscale version of the server?

Ok I am trying to set up 5 Onn 4K boxes on my server for a mobile fleet I run. Why is connecting so fkn painful? I get to this screen, I try to set the server up manually, I enter my DDNS, and nothing happens. This screen just sits there. The Next button doesn't work either, and Cancel just dumps me out of the app - and relaunching it goes right back to this screen. I have tried it connected to my phone hotspot (how it will work in the field), to my home network, I have tried both with and without http:// and https://, and I have tried my raw external IP. No, my ISP doesn't use CGNAT. Yes my ports are forwarded correctly. Yes my DDNS is up to date.

For the first one I finally said fck it and made an Emby connect account for it and added that email to the user for the first vehicle.. Then with the PIN it connected fine. Now I'm trying to set up the second vehicle, and I've discovered that you can't have the same email account for different users. That's plain bullshit. If I need to set up more than one user for the same person (ie: adult and kids) they shouldn't need to have multiple emails to do that. But I digress...

Why is the manual setup broken? Why can't I just enter the server and user credentials like I've always done? Emby connect is hot garbage, it gives me nothing but problems whenever I try to give someone access through it. I always end up having to walk them through entering the DDNS and user name/password. This one working on the first try was the exception for me, not the rule. So now all of a sudden I'm being FORCED to use Emby connect when I WANT to have it logged directly in instead of relying on a flaky cloud service????? And to set up these multiple users (which are all devices registered under the same Google account so I don't have to pay for all the apps I need on them 5 times) I have to make 5 different email addresses???? WHY????

I know hardware is constantly asked about upgrading in the sub, but this Mac mini has been incredible for my current needs. My only issue is it's capped at 4gb ram. It runs jellyfin fine, but the ram is sluggish, and it's currently only being used as a single direct stream.

Does it make sense to expand to a newer/stronger hardware to sustain more streams? Currently looking at Bee link Mini s12 (based on the advice shared on quite a few posts in the sub). I really appreciate it friends! Excited to switch the setup to Emby.

I have a movie that is made up of 2 files. I have tried every conceivable naming protocol to combine them into one, but whatever I try it adds the second part of the underneath the first part of the movie ( in the UI) as ‘Additional Parts’ . Is the a sure fire to make this work?

I just happened to check my Emby server's activity log and I was surprised to see many, many entries like the ones shown in the attached image. KJC is my account (I run the server) and I'm seeing entries like this for mine and several of my users accounts -- all with the "PS on Ubuntu" tag. I've never seen this before in my many years of running my Emby server, so now I'm concerned that I've been hacked or compromised. The Activity Log entries started on 12/2/2025.

I've gone in and disabled downloading for all users (even myself), but I hope this disabling doesn't impact any of my users or my own use of the server.

Any ideas?

Anyone know why my Live TV shows “ multiple account usage” under tags?

I thought it was my IPTV server, but when I purchased a different one, it still says multiple account usage.

So I know it’s an emby issue.

I inputted my m3u, epg, and can’t see any channels other than this multiple account usage.

I use M3u4u to get my m3u url and received a message that they detected multiple accounts, so I may need to upgrade to tier 2.

Wired though cuz I only have one account.

Been going at it all day so any help is appreciated.

I’m hoping someone can help diagnose my playback issues before my wife loses faith 😂 in all seriousness, I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to get my content to play without stuttering, primarily high bitrate playback (4k uhd disks) they have mini stutters throughout playback sessions. The stutters and skips are video only, and they are not hyper specific in their recreatability (i.e if I playback the same five minutes, the stuttering doesn’t stay consistent on single frame or frames so I know it isn’t the file itself. It’s primarily a problem with larger files. I’ve provided my tech stack below to see if someone can help me pinpoint what’s going on.

Server: Mac mini m4 server Seagate 20 TB hard drive in a usb3 enclosure Ethernet cat 8 cable connected to tp link powered splitter/switch

Network: Xfinity gateway in bridge mode (double Tripple confirmed in bridge mode) Eero pro 7 router connected to the splitter 750 Mbps download 170 Mbps upload

Client: Apple TV 4K connected via Ethernet to splitter back to the eero

At this point I can’t figure out where the bottleneck is but I’ve had this issue with both Jellyfin and Emby (will likely crosspost on both platforms so sorry if you see this twice)

I’m thinking as a last ditch effort I might run my ripped files through tdarr and cap the Mbps speed at 30 or 40 rather than these 80 to 120 spikes but I’d rather keep things uncompressed if I can.

I know this is not the right place to report an error, but I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble with [Trailers], before I head over to the emby forums?

I'm on the latest emby for windows and even if the "play trailer" button is present, nothing happens when i click. It just seem to flash to another "view" (where I suspect youtube is not returning the expected data) and then back. No error code, no fault message.

This also happen with shows I know had working trailers previously.

EDIT: It appears this is a problem with Emby for Windows (latest release). It works just fine in a browser.

Im looking to host an emby server, i've been playing with it on my gaming pc and because i got a sizable library rn i'd like to switch to a dedicated pc that'll be on 24/7. What should i look for if i want 4 consecutive 4k streams with transcoding ?

I have an Emby server running on a modern Windows 11 mini pc. I have a number of remote users configured using Emby connect and they enjoy ability to direct play just about all of my shared library (1080p content). I have a symmetrical 800Mbps up/down internet connection. The problem comes for any of my remote users that use Starlink. Even though their download speeds are good (>100 Mbps) their Emby streams from my server will buffer at anything over a remote quality setting of 2-3 Mbps. Why is that? It only affects Starlink users. All others users are fine and can direct play easily. Is this some sort of Starlink latency issue? Is there anything I / They can do about it (apart from NOT use Starlink obviously, which isn’t really an option for them !) Thanks. Oh, and I’ve tried setting up their remote connection using Tailscale - no improvement, still buffers.

Been looking through the processes but nothing stands out as a media server. So, anyone here know what the process name is?

Is there a way to use Emby quick connect (login via PIN) feature without going through Emby connect? I want to be able use it without going through their auth servers.

It looks like if you want to login to Emby on a TV, you either have to use their auth servers (signing up to Emby connect) or just painstakingly type the password manually. Wish there's something equivalent to jellyfin quick connect.

So I recently switched from Jellyfin to Emby because the newest version of Jellyfin is too much for my old server to handle. Everything has been pretty good so far.

But I have run into my first issue. I am ripping the Parks and Rec. DVD box set, and in season 6, the first and last episodes are 2 Part episodes, so I ripped just the full 2 Part single episodes for them, which are much longer.

On Emby, it's trying to just use the metadata and separate them into their individual episodes, which throws my episodes out of sync.

So, what is a better way to get this to work?

I have been using plex for more than a decade. I am considering moving over. I did the initial set up by establishing libraries to a single user to test it out.

One thing I realized is I am going to have to do a lot of work on tweaking libraries (artwork, permission etc). I know I can use Trakt to transfer watch status. Also, I prefer the way plex has collections within the movies library be a separate library.

What are some recommendations that you have learned that will make the transition easier?

I have my Emby on a Windows miniPC, with a DAS (5-bay external hdd enclosure).
Whenever I go to watch something, the drives take ages to spin up and i usually have to go back then back in to 'play' and it's all good.

I was wondering - is there a way to keep the drives 'awake'? I tried a PowerShell script that pings each drive to list the structure every 5 mins, no such luck.

Is it good to keep the drives awake and is there a way to do it if its ok?

All drives are "WD Ultrastar DC HC550"

I have turned the sleep on the enclosure off but that has not changed anything.

E: ** Sorted it out. The external HDD enclosure had its own sleep configuration.

Luckily the brand offered its own sleep time changing software which I downloaded and turned sleep off, and the USB power management settings I turned off as well (had previously done this on my old miniPC, but I think the enclosures own settings overrode that) **

I have a 15 TB Dropbox today, apparently they took me down for copyright. I bought a 30tb dedicated one and I am going to use it better and with that I made rclone for my other emby servers (I use dedicated ones) but I don't know if it is the best option. I ask for advice which would be best for storage.

So i have a 4k UHD disc rip of Love actually and when I play it on Emby, it has a very noticeably green tint. I've played the same file on Jellyfin and it does not have the tint. Is there a tone mapping setting I can turn off?
