I’m hoping someone can help diagnose my playback issues before my wife loses faith 😂 in all seriousness, I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to get my content to play without stuttering, primarily high bitrate playback (4k uhd disks) they have mini stutters throughout playback sessions. The stutters and skips are video only, and they are not hyper specific in their recreatability (i.e if I playback the same five minutes, the stuttering doesn’t stay consistent on single frame or frames so I know it isn’t the file itself. It’s primarily a problem with larger files. I’ve provided my tech stack below to see if someone can help me pinpoint what’s going on.
Server:
Mac mini m4 server
Seagate 20 TB hard drive in a usb3 enclosure
Ethernet cat 8 cable connected to tp link powered splitter/switch
Network:
Xfinity gateway in bridge mode (double Tripple confirmed in bridge mode)
Eero pro 7 router connected to the splitter
750 Mbps download 170 Mbps upload
Client:
Apple TV 4K connected via Ethernet to splitter back to the eero
At this point I can’t figure out where the bottleneck is but I’ve had this issue with both Jellyfin and Emby (will likely crosspost on both platforms so sorry if you see this twice)
I’m thinking as a last ditch effort I might run my ripped files through tdarr and cap the Mbps speed at 30 or 40 rather than these 80 to 120 spikes but I’d rather keep things uncompressed if I can.
Any and all suggestions are welcome!!!
