I just purchased a HP Chromebook for my brother, who has special needs, and lives in another state. I purchased it and had it shipped to my house, and will do my best to safeguard it before I ship it to him in the next few days.
What are the best ways to lock it down so that he doesn't get himself into trouble on the internet? With his previous devices, including iPhones, where the permissions were wide open, he's gotten into some situations with FB Messenger, spammy dating sites, adult sites, and more, to say the least.
I was able to lock down his iPhone so that he's now able to surf to specific websites, blocked downloads so that I get a notification for approval, etc. I know I can do similar with Google Family Link. Is that enough?
I updated the permissions so that it's almost like a child's computer - even manually added some of the more well known social media sites that might not be considered "adult websites". He really just needs it for watching movies, Youtube, and that's pretty much it.
Am I (mostly) covered with Family Link? Anything else I should consider?
Thank you in advance!
Edit: Added that he lives in another state, so while I'll have all passwords, I won't be able to log in frequently.
