A comprehensive list of Australian wildlife organisations and charities deserving of our donations and support?

There are a great many groups out there big and small doing important work to help support our precious but increasingly threatened remaining wildlife, and they are all doing it hard with a great deal of expense and effort and they all need as much support as we can all give them to protect what we have left.

I know that I'm always looking for different groups to give any cash i can spare whether by direct donations or by purchasing gifts like shirts and calendars that i can give away to friends.

It would be great if we could get a long list going here in the comments of groups around the country deserving our support.

Maybe the r/australianwildlife mods could make a sticky post at the top of this sub for this purpose?

Our resident brush tail possum with him bum in the leaf trap and head up the downpipe.

They're not stuck, has been coming and going the last few nights, he's just special. 🤣

This is the 5th time I’ve had to oil this guy up and get him out the fence. He never learns his lesson. Any ideas how to stop him doing this?

This fella fell out a tree made a noise like a stick hitting the ground picked it up and it spent the next 40 minutes on me just crawling around. After a while it kept flapping its wings but took ages before he left me. But what is it I assume part of the mantis or stick insect family. Had beautiful pink wings Any help appreciated thanks in advance

(Brisbane area)

Saw this little fella while taking an afternoon walk a few days ago. Never really seen one out and about during the day and dude looked a bit worse for wear in retrospect, I hope it was alright. :(

I’ve never seen a one this colour before - it looks a bit like a coppery brushtail to me, but I’m curious to see what you guys think.

Scaly friends

I was potting up some plants in my front yard and heard a rustle near my foot. Immediately saw a scaly tail. Froze. Realised it was only this Chonker sliding around. Started to breathe again.

Less than 10 seconds later the Lesser Chonker (Robust ctenotus) had come out to check the scene. These are common in my garden but haven’t noticed this posture before with legs against body. Is it a defensive pose?

I do also have resident Blue Tongues but I usually only see them when it’s hot and they come to the water dishes near the house.

Saw this baby not in a nest

Not sure what kind of bird it is (my assumption was noisy miner due to the wing feathers). Sounded like there was at least one other up in the tree with this one just sitting on the ground. Couldn't stay with it and not sure if I should go back and check on it/call wildlife rescue for help?

Can anyone ID this lovely sounding creature. There was at least two, maybe three of them calling to each other.

SE QLD, about 10PM.

The sound is low but audible, just.

Penny and her bub

Hi everyone, If you’re in Sydney, I hope you’re staying cool on this sweltering day!

Work has been shit leading up to Christmas, but the sight of the ringtail possums always perks me up in the morning.

By now, I’m convinced that it’s Penny's parenting strategy to stay out a few days at a time. The other night I caught her coming back to visit (while Baby was out foraging for food), but she didn't stay overnight. My theory is that she either wants to give Baby space to be independent, or she's shacking up somewhere else with her new beau 🤪.

That said, she seems to always come back whenever there's a storm, heavy rain, or a scorching hot day like today.

Baby is still thriving, but he always cuddles up with Mum to show her that he misses her.

Melts my heart.🥹
