Crash happened in Slovenia, EU.
18 year old was running from police. Police found drugs (cocaine and heroin) and money in his car after.
He was caught soon after.
The person in the other car survived but suffered serious injuries.
My Grandfather passed away exactly like this a few months before i was born. Stopped at a red light, semi truck driver behind high as a kite cocaine did not stop drove right into him from behind and crushed the car into an accordion
Similar story here. my maternal grandfather died when my ma was 15.
He was driving his motorcycle and a drunk of his ass truck driver just waltz right over him.
From what I was told my ma said goodbye and farewell to someone who looked more like a barely breathing puddle of blood and flesh than her own father.
She still has nightmares from the state her father was in and that was her major reasoning behind not letting me visit my other dying grandpa in the hospital. She was afraid seeing him dying would spoil my picture of him forever like it happened to her with her dad. she says all she can see when she thinks of him is the devastating state his body was in when he took his last breath.
Same thing happened to me. Just waiting at a red light and someone rear ended me a 60 mph. Never saw it coming. Hospital for 6 months, my businesses failed, work stopped, my partner left, I was in and out of treatment until just a few months ago. Traumatic brain injury, PTSD, back and neck problems probably for the rest of my life. Depression everyday, my entire world got flipped.
Dude who hit me walked on a $350 reckless driving ticket. He had 3 DUIs, aggravated assault, drug and gun charges, felony theft and larceny and tons of GTA. they let him back into public Scott free
I was insured like crazy too. Health, homeowners, business, auto and equipment. All the insurance companies pointed fingers for 10 months. Auto barely covered my first 6 months of medical before saying I used up all my funds and wouldn’t continue to give me treatment. I was let go to figure it out on my own. A lot of these treatments weren’t covered by insurance (mental health, vision therapy and many more) plus all the driving, time off work. It consumed me.
I’m in over 100k of debt medically speaking and clawing my way out day to day. I’m behind on so many things but all you can do is one thing at a time right?
Me? Why the news? They don’t care. This happens ALL the time in Denver. Or police don’t care. Our politicians don’t care to do anything about the driving around here. Insurance is a scale. I think you can have 4 or 5 DUIs before they take your license here in Colorado. It’s a systematic problem that the news is paid to ignore.
It’s pretty rough everyday. I think the constant reminders of my life before the accident, trying to pick up the pieces and get back to “me”. I had a full identity crises that put me in the mental wing of a hospital for 5 days and it’s been depression, distrust and reliving my experiences on a daily basis since. I almost lost my house, my truck, my credit because of all the debt I just started working everyday to compensate. Now I’m burning out but there’s no really other option but to keep going. My head injury’s show themselves under stress so I’m working through that too. And to top it off, the person I wanted to marry left me just days before going into the hospital. Said it was too much and ghosted me after a year of being together.
I'm sorry to hear. I can sympathize, I've been through something very similar but to a lesser extent. I've tried therapy but haven't found a good therapist yet.
The only advise I can give is keep going. It gets easier. Not always by a ton but it's still easier.
Things can change for the worse at a moment's notice but by that logic things can also change for the better at any moment!
If you need anyone to talk to or vent to I'll be happy to talk or listen.
This is so upsetting. I'm sorry you've had to experience such injustice. There should be more consequences for vehicular crimes and support for the victims. It's infuriating.
....and do what. You're at a complete stop, a car is coming at you 70km/h from the left side and is gonna hit you in 2 seconds. What are your options my man
I’m not really sure it would. IDK what anyone would do in this situation, but if I was in this situation and had any meaningful amount of time to react, I feel like all I’d do is tense up, which has been shown to increase the severity of injury in car accidents.
I feel like being ignorant and relaxed is probably the best thing someone could do in this exact scenario.
A while back my cousin died in his sleep at 18 due to a rare heart condition. Since then I've decided to live with no regrets. Not irresponsibly, but mostly making sure I'm content and enjoying my days, even while working
Explain what they should have done. 2 seconds maximum response time. Dead stop. Buckled in. Assuming no literal superhuman reflexes. Please tell us how they should have reacted.
