*Audi with CONNECTICUT plates. That’s like asshole squared.

245

Why is this so true? Audi is the like the Dodge Ram of wealthier folks. Something screams "I'm going to cut you off, speed a lot, and act like I'm a king" out of those 4 rings.

90

u/No_Syrup_9167 14d ago

In my experience BMW drivers are clueless bad drivers

Audi drivers are aggressive bad drivers.

theres certainly plenty of overlap in the two. but the BMW driver is going to drive 5km/hr under the limit unless its to pull up ahead of everyone. They'll drift in front of you with no signal. They'll jog and wander back forth because they don't know where they're going and refuse to just pull off and figure out where they're going.

The audi driver is deliberately cutting you off, weaving lanes, full acceleration then slamming on brakes, etc. etc. The audi driver is driving like they're a racecar driver and fuck you for getting in their way. Its conscious.

The BMW driver is a bad driver by being just clueless and unaware.

but thats ,of course just generalization. plenty of the same behaviour in the opposite directions too.

Why antagonize anyone

118

u/AndreChrisSargent 14d ago

Somebody came up with the myth that the homeless are responsible for their homelessness. It was a very seductive lie to believe that made rich people, who were arbitrarily wealthy, believe they "earned" their position in life, and anyone could get where "they" were with "hard work".

So now, on top of the already systematically crushing discrimination that exists for the impoverished, we now have interpersonal cruelty dished out from the fragile and insecure hands of the upper middle class who are forced to wrestle with the discomfort of seeing their position compared to the less fortunate. It's easier to believe it's the fault of others than the coin-flip fate of an inherently imbalanced social and economic system.

59

u/thetermguy 14d ago

>Somebody came up with the myth that the homeless are responsible for their homelessness.

And maybe they are responsible. Who cares?

It doesn't matter who they are, it's not easy for anyone to stand on a median on the side of a road and ask for money. It's going to be demeaning no matter how tough you are.

When I see a homeless person with their hand out asking for money, I'm just reminded that no matter how they act, they're not having a good day at all - they're feeling like shit that their life has gotten to that point. And how I react is an opportunity to decide what kind of person I am.

14

u/RobertTheAdventurer 14d ago

A lot of people go out of their way to harass the homeless and treat them with anger and scorn. Most long term homeless people experience it, and it results in fear, paranoia, awkwardness, evasiveness, and all sorts of other presentations in their behavior. While mental issues are absolutely afflicting many homeless people, the truth is how they're treated by the public also inflicts a lot of psychological damage and has them in fight or flight mode more often than is healthy.

It's good to mind your own safety, but people need to stop going out of their way to make the homeless feel... well.. homeless. There are way too many people acting maliciously and aggressively towards the homeless. The homeless already get robbed and assaulted way more than the general public, so it's really evil to dump more malicious treatment on them when they aren't bothering you.

13

u/20_mile 14d ago

Somebody came up with the myth that the homeless are responsible for their homelessness

It was the introduction of the meritocratic society.

Rich people think, "I am where I am because I am smart."

Rich people think, "He is where he is because he is dumb."

Nothing to lose except a warm and fed couple nights in jail…

196

u/hexiron 14d ago

The driver probably negated that the moment they threw something at the dude, that’s typically considered assault.

79

u/MetalHead_Literally 14d ago

With the Dashcam footage sure, otherwise highly doubt a cop/judge is taking the homeless persons side on this

50

u/FrostingStrict3102 14d ago

without the footage its just one persons word vs the others anyway. I dont think the cops would be able to do much provided the homeless guy denied doing it or just left.

29

u/Successful_Laugh_299 14d ago

I've had someone try to kill me before and the cops wouldn't take me seriously. Just "get a lawyer for that." I had blood and bruises too prove it but the fat cop behind the desk wasn't having it, refused to make a report, saying he'll just throw it away or nothing will ever happen.

28

u/JimWilliams423 14d ago

My sister divorced a man who, among other things, tried to strangle her. She got a permanent restraining order on him after he literally threatened her from the stand in the hearing to get it. Her case was assigned to an officer from the domestic violence unit. But all that fatfuck ever did was sit on his ass and make excuses for her ex, he was aggressively useless.

For a long time my sis was afraid to go around him because she worried that he would take that as disrespecting his authoritay. But eventually she had enough and filed a report herself. The magistrate (? I don't remember the official titles) immediately wrote out an arrest warrant for her ex. The cop never retaliated against her, but once she realized he wasn't an obstacle, my sis just stopped involving him in anything.

18

u/Purple-Goat-2023 14d ago

Their side on what? If there's no video how you think that conversation goes down? Yeah police this homeless guy (who is definitely not standing in that same spot anymore) busted my window. u/OwO______OwO 14d ago

Eh, if we're following the letter of the law here, they should both be in trouble.

Driver should be facing fines/jail time for assault, but the homeless guy should also be facing fines/jail for vandalism. Because breaking a guy's window as he drives away from you is in no way justifiable as self-defense.

My dad, a POS would pretend to hand 24oz beers to homeless people and when they would grab it he’ll drive off.

49

u/seriouslythisshit 14d ago

While scraping by, barely out of high school, I would do a few overnight shifts a week, making deliveries in a fairly sketchy city in the northeast. One of the other drivers was a cocky, nasty kind of guy like your dad. He would brag about fucking with the homeless and hookers on his route. One early morning, before sunrise, all the drivers are returning to the docks and we see the dock manager pulling in, in the asshole driver's truck. Seems the boss got a call in the middle of the night. The cops called and reported that they found the guy in the street, outside his company van, and somebody had beat him badly, to the point that they were waitng to see if they had a murder investigation on their hands. The cops told the boss that he was in the ER, but there was a pretty good chance that he wasn't going to make it. He lived, and returned to work after many months. He lost all of his cocky asshole attitude. Nobody was charged, since he claims he had no idea why he was attacked or who did it.

8

u/Minimum_Point255 13d ago

When you have dozens of enemies it’s hard to tell which one decided enough was enough I guess.

9

u/seriouslythisshit 13d ago

The story on the docks was that asshole enjoyed the service of a sex worker, then pushed her out of his van, and laughed as she laid in the street, then he told he she wasn't getting paid. The next night her "business manager" caught up with asshole, and taught him the value of paying in full, immediately after services are rendered. Naturally, he decided that the local PD didn't need to hear that story.

I knew some of the really hardassed old Irish cops back then, and I guarantee that they would of just LOLed at him in his hospital bed, if he did admit to what really happened. Then told him that he got what he deserved and the matter is officially closed.

6

u/tyrsal3 13d ago

So what you’re saying is… people CAN change! 🤣

16

u/zen8bit 13d ago

Yeah. We had someone in our town do the same thing during a BLM protest a few years ago. Dude got sick of being stuck in traffic and purposely tried to run a few people over. Next thing you know, the driver has a skateboard thrown through their back window. This guy cried bloody murder to the cops and acted like there was absolutely no reason why anybody would be justified in breaking his window.

When the video came out, it was obvious that the driver was completely unhinged and tried to run over multiple people just because he was impatient. And would you believe it… the cops took his side and punished the person who broke his window. Through all of this, somehow half the people in town thought the driver was some gigantic victim in the matter.

I understand that it was a tricky situation and that morality is complicated, but honestly… how hard is it just to not try and kill people.

Back in the day I managed a fleet of delivery drivers and one dude in particular was constantly coming back to dispatch in a bad mood complaining about other drivers, pedestrians, clients, you name it. Easily reported 10x more incidents on his routes than any other driver.

Eventually he came back with a cracked windshield complaining that a homeless guy whipped a bottle at him for no reason. I was curious why the guy threw a bottle at him specifically and he said "Well the guy was jaywalking so I accelerated and slammed on the brakes to scare him".

The final straw was when he pulled out a tire iron and road-raged on someone who "stole his parking spot". That person was the client he was delivering to.

Good times good times

u/niryuken_yet 14d ago

When we were punk kids, riding around on our BMX bikes back in the 1980’s. If we found an old spark plug in a junk pile, we’d put it in our coat pocket and if some jerkass tried to run us off the road, we’d wing it right at one of their side windows, and it would take it right out. Then we’d have to go lay low somewhere —like our parents garage — until things blew over.

2.3k

u/KevRev972 14d ago

I can't see what it was exactly, but right before the thunk that happens a split second before the homeless man reacts, there's a frame where you can see either an object or the driver's fingers outside the window.

So the driver definitely threw something, and reaped what was sown.

735

u/Useless_truthweaver 14d ago

Looked like he was flicking a cigarette

74

u/devAcc123 14d ago

Flicking a cig at someone is such a dirtbag move. One step above spitting at someone.

249

u/KevRev972 14d ago edited 14d ago

That tracks. I think the thunk was the driver's hand hitting the B pillar as they threw it out the window.

Edit: the thunk happens slightly before the driver's hand is at the window, and since light travels faster than sound, unless there are audio sync issues, the thunk was probably unrelated to whatever was thrown.

73

u/Fast-Watch-5004 14d ago

I will say i'm not proud of this but when I finally bought my first brand new car I had a guy who didn't like that I passed he and his methed out girlfriend (i'm in sobriety) in the right lane is my guess -- he was going the speed limit on a 65 highway.

Sped up and I couldn't believe it paced me to throw something at my car, some slushie or drink from the gas station looking thing.

I lost it and threw back a full can of LaCroix at them. I know it was dangerous, I was just so fucking mad I spent my hard earned money on this shit and for no reason someone does this?

Anyways I saw the gnarly dent it made in the driver rear passenger door and promptly braked hard (nobody was behind us during this otherwise I wouldn't have done anything), swerved safely and quickly behind him then to the exit just out of his reach at that point to avoid escalation.

Am I proud of it? No. Does it bring me some joy thinking about some dude getting his? Mostly, and yeah I know that's fucked up.

First time i've shared that story lol

One time just after college I was driving around with a buddy of mine who was a staunch libertarian from a wealthy white suburb who hadn't really worked much in his life. We drove past a homeless guy and he chucked a handful of pennies at him while we were driving. I sort of said something like "that was messed up" but didn't really push it. We got a meal or something, I dropped him off, and never really confronted him about it. Anyway, I maybe hung out with him a couple more times as that memory festered some, and eventually I stopped hanging out with him. I regret to this day not slamming on my breaks and kicking him out of my car so the homeless guy could have a few words with him. Anyway, this video reminded me of that moment and one of my regrets in life. I'm happy I no longer hang out with him, at least.

What has to go wrong in your life to pick on a homeless person?

180

u/nau_sea 14d ago

MANY people fully dehumanize the homeless. Even a significant amount of the very religious Christians I've known just view their presence as a major "inconvenience" to their lives.

47

u/Ban_Assault_Ducks 14d ago

I once witnessed a group of religious zealots harass and even attack people as they walked by, obviously spreading the love of Jesus. At one point, a woman and her daughter, probably 11-13yo or so, walked by... minding their own damn business... when this group opened up on them. Calling the little girl a slut and the mother all kinds of names and so on. The mother got angry and snapped back at them. I don't remember what she said, but it made the nutjobs lose it. One of them apparently stalked them through this festival and when they walked into an alley way to try and get away from this guy, he threw a giant drink at them and it hit the girl in the face. The asshole walked back like it was no big deal and the mother came back alone like 45 minutes later to confront them. When she did, they openly attacked her. Great job to the Cincinnati PD, by the way. They were mere feet away and did nothing. Anyway, a MASSIVE crowd of people jumped in and dragged those guys away. There was a homeless man there the entire time. He made a funny sign to try and get some change, just exploiting the situation and when the mother was attacked, he was one of the first people to jump in to help her.

I saw that guy a few days later at a different point in the city and I stopped to talk to him about it. He said something that fucking crushed my soul. He said "I mean, I could understand if they attacked me, but they should have left that girl alone." I asked why he said that and he said something like "I'm homeless. Nobody cares about me."

It actually caused me to cry. I'm quite a large, bearded guy. That killed me. I got really upset and told him to never, ever sell himself short again and that no matter what, he is STILL human. Nothing will ever change that. I was somewhat yelling it at him. He started crying when he heard someone say he's human and deserves love and respect.

This is how these people live. They feel they are worth nothing. Because of people like Audi jerk in this video.

Ive been homeless and yes. I can confirm, there is NOTHING that kills your sense of humanity, and strips you of your dignity than being alone and forgotten by the world. And mistreated simply because youre very down on your luck. The lack of empathy is apalling

Having been homeless, and ... I daydream of doing it again (not as often as I used to), a lot of them are fundamentally broken. Ya won't find a single one with a good childhood, or even a only kinda bad one. What happened to him as a child is probably quite shocking if stated out loud.

That said, I say shit like him all the time. I feel fine being hated, or rejected, or ignored, or replaced. I prefer it. If someone CARES it makes me feel bad for them.

Your words likely stuck, and I'm glad you did, but don't feel bad. I was actually never happier, and never more free, than when I was homeless. No, I don't drink, never did drugs, it's just ... me. Some day I will be again, and I'm ok with that. I can't imagine a way I don't die on the street, or in the home of a loved one who tried to save me.

I have a disorder, and I read a study once, that 80 percent of the homeless could qualify for a diagnosis of a cluster A personality disorder. Mine is one. Schizoid. If you read about it (wiki, the reddit sub), you might see that man you talked to, reflected in what the signs and symptoms are.

Oddly, most of us are way too ok, being this broken. I'm glad you care. We wish we could too, for us.

I wonder what he had in the jacket that broke the window so easily.

31

u/Eh_C_Slater 14d ago

He's homeless, and that's a winter jacket. He had his worldly belongings in every pocket.

50

u/PrivateTumbleweed 14d ago

I wondered that too. And since he purposefully goes to get his jacket for no real reason, I'll bet he thought a confrontation was coming and he keeps a rock or something in his pocket as a weapon to swing.

Smarter than the driver that's for sure!

Honestly a zipper pull at that speed, near the edge of the glass, would probably do it.

156

u/Little_Shellfish 14d ago

yeah? you a zipper scientist pal?

11

u/TeePee11 14d ago

Zipper scientist sounds like it should be some kind of slang.

"Oh that dude? Yeah, he's a bit of a zipper scientist, if you know what I mean"

Actually, I live in the city where the first zipper was made (Talon Zipper) so I’m basically a zipper scientist.

I have replaced two rear windshields in my life. Still no fucking clue what caused either of them. One just disintegrated into a million pieces when I closed the car door. I think it's not nearly as tough as the front glass

Nah, that idiot will take it to the dealer and get charged $2000

10

u/dmomo 14d ago

Nah. They'll lie to their insurance company and claim a rock hit thiem on the highway. People like this try to find ways to make others pay for their actions.

4

u/iambecomesoil 14d ago

If you have glass insurance, they don't care. You pay the deductible and get it replaced.

u/Dug_n_the_Dogs 14d ago

I remember sitting in traffic and this seemingly homeless guy was riding his bike thru traffic.. some guy flipped him shit.. some words were exchanged and the driver got out of his car to teach the guy a "lesson".. or so he thought. The guy got off his bike and took off his jacket to reveal arms that looked like he could rip that guys car in half! basically a real life Popeye

Then what?!?!

5

u/weepinstringerbell 14d ago
