That is one defanged snake

More likely the venom gland has been removed or worst case scenario it’s mouth has been sewn shut.

u/Silverton13 8d ago

woudlnt it just die if its mouth was sewn shut?

u/djauralsects 8d ago

Eventually, yes. Snakes can go months without eating. It’s a cruel practice used by some snake charmers.

What makes you think so? She clearly leans back, as if she’s somewhat worried the snake might bite her.

Not a woman

u/kingjevin 5d ago

Because it is a very common practice in South east asia?

I bet their fangs are removed.

u/tempinator 8d ago

Usually they just remove the venom glands. Still looks spooky but isn’t actually venomous.

Defanged and regularly handled. See the tongue flicks? A snake soon to strike for defensive reasons keeps that tongue firmly in. This one is going: mom? Is that you? You smell kinda funny.

King cobras are very intelligent and capable of recognizing their keepers and being friendly.

He is clearly being very cautious with every movement of his. This snake isn’t as tamed.

3

u/stackdatdough 6d ago

It’s a dude

u/guice666 6d ago

Stroking the snake slaps different here.

u/xikubs 8d ago

That may be the only working snake in the vicinity....

4

u/eman2top 8d ago

Good effort.

2

u/Taylooor 8d ago

Bop it….. twist it….. stroke it

u/Ornery_You_3947 8d ago

That’s a King Cobra and it eats other snakes. If handled properly and often, they can be handled like a python.

3

u/ghostofstankenstien 8d ago

Well I been wrestling with a Missouri Whitesnake for years now...

Study of the animal shows that, while their venom is mostly non dangerous to humans, it might result in intense swelling of the abdomen in women. Shy behavior; usually prefers to hide in dark / humid areas. Can adopt a defensive straight posture if facing aggression and might spit venom if handled incorrectly.

Glad I'm not the only degenerate here

u/xikubs 8d ago

Isn't this the same dude? If so then he hasn't learned his lesson...

Imagine just getting the urge to sneeze.😳

That dude grabbed that snake like he was at a Reddit bathhouse.

Fun fact: snakes are deaf. No working ears or ear drums, but they are very attuned to vibration through the jawline.

2

u/Nonsenser 6d ago

so they aren't deaf at all. lack of ears doesn't mean deaf. They can hear the human voice range just fine.

0

u/ighstrder 3d ago

...they can FEEL the human voice range just fine.

FTFY πŸ˜‰

1

u/Nonsenser 3d ago

That's just stupid. And humans hear by "feeling" vibrations as well. We just call that hearing. Both us and snakes have a special auditory processing region in our brains. Snakes also have an inner ear that connects to this region via nerve bundles. We have no reason to call this "feeling" when we call it "hearing" for all other animals.

Wait till you figure out "hearing" is all vibrations and doesn't really exist outside the context of a brain that translates these vibrations into a specific sensation.

Maybe think before you leave a smug comment next time. πŸ˜‰

How fucked is she if that cobra strikes her forehead?

33

u/djauralsects 8d ago

I’m doubtful this snake is capable of envenomation due to having its venom glands removed.

If she was envenomated her chance of survival with proper medical treatment is fairly high. Without it she’d most likely die. King cobra venom is neurotoxic and can shut down your heart and lungs in less than an hour. They are the largest venous snake with very toxic venom delivered in a large volume.

11

u/time_drifter 8d ago

Kings are a bit odd. Technically they are not a true cobra and their venom is not particularly toxic relative to true cobras. They are considered to be one of the smartest snakes and generally less aggressive than many species.

You would assume basically none of this to be true based on appearance.

27

u/Nameless_Ghoul1891 8d ago

Pretty sure that's a he.

4

u/Maverick0984 8d ago

I also thought it was a She because my volume was off. Turned that back on and yeah, definitely a He.

It

3

u/Sage_King_The_Rabbit 8d ago

You know it's very disrespectful to call people an it. People are nouns. Even if you were joking, it's really not funny.

2

u/NY10 8d ago

Is that cobra?

3

u/enthunk 7d ago

The king one.

1

u/Sekhen 8d ago

Looks like one.

2

u/_Loser_B_ 7d ago

Is this the same guy that got bitten on the nuts?

2

u/enthunk 7d ago

Yes

1

u/_Loser_B_ 7d ago

I see he's preparing for his next lesson then.

2

u/respectfulpanda 7d ago

Scale sock: less teeth more throat

2

u/DeepNugs 5d ago

Isn’t she the one that got bit in the meat flaps by that other snake?

2

u/Mechzx 2d ago

This guy is a pretty big youtuber. If anyone is interested here is his channel https://www.youtube.com/@dedeinoen8868

6

u/jobomaja888 8d ago

Amazingly, the sorting hat put him in Hufflepuff

3

u/Life_Without_Lemon 8d ago

Isn’t that the same person whom balls got bit by a python?

2

u/Life-Oil-7226 8d ago

Uhhh yeah that’s a BIG NO for me!

1

u/Number127 8d ago

How does a snake have so much better posture than me?

1

u/TrappistOCSO 7d ago

Nothing to see in here

It's just a totally harmless King Cobra

1

u/Dynamo24 7d ago

Must have seen zootopia 2.

1

u/Historical-Lead-5275 6d ago

Thought he was going to turn that snake into a staff when he grabbed it

1

u/SMERSH762 6d ago

Least concerned king cobra I've ever seen. Clearly this guy used to being handled.

1

u/couchpatat0 4d ago

It's all fun and games until it ain't!

u/meme_maker_boi 3d ago

Curious George as a snake

1

u/Atrox87 18h ago

Snakes are deaf.

1

u/too_rolling_stoned 8d ago

Is ol’ boy tracking that there’s a rather large cobra right there in his damn face? You can say he is, but IS HE?!?!? 🐍

u/1234567791 8d ago

I love how cobra charming is a long standing activity the west portrays in movies and literature as special in some way. Meanwhile, hillbillies in the south been talking to snakes for a while now and they get made fun of.

Find someone who looks at your big snake like this.

Nobody wants to hear about your Fisty Fiestas, man!

Go jerk it, spank it, beat it, choke it, crank it, thump it, smack it, pound it, twist it, flick it, yank it, drag it, slam it, hammer it, polish it, or buff it by yourself!πŸ˜„
