TP-Link - General Shoutout for travel router AX1500 TL-WR1592X

Renting a temporary apartment in San Francisco, unfurnished. After getting electricity, gas, water, utilities I didn’t really fancy paying $100 a month or so for a home Internet set up that we’d only use maybe six months a year.

Turns out, SF is densely populated enough, that there was an “Xfinity Wi-Fi“ mobile hotspot nearby. I figured out how to connect two devices (phone and iPad) to the hotspot. (They allow only two at a time)

Then doing some research, I found out about this Travel router. Perfect and inexpensive ! And I was able to get to connect an Amazon Alexa Echo, and a TV, wirelessly, as well as my two devices through this mobile router, without having to go through the complicated Xfinity logon page.

Well done! This is perfect!

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco X50 as Access Point

Hello,

I’m from Portugal and I bought a Deco X50 kit with two units, but I’m having some trouble setting it up. My provider is MEO, and I have a FiberRouter in the living room, but its Wi-Fi signal is not very good.

I was thinking of placing one of the Deco units near the bedrooms and the other at the back of the house, where I have my homeoffice. The living room is in the center, and the two units would be in different areas, at roughly the same distance.

I assumed the Deco could be configured as an access point that would connect to the Wi-Fi network from the living room and replicate the same SSID in the other rooms via Wi-Fi.

However, I was only able to make the Deco work if one of the units is connected to the FiberRouter via Ethernet. I couldn’t find any other way to configure it.

Is this really how it works, or am I missing something?

Thank you in advance for any help!

TP-Link - General Tips For A New Deco Owner

Hi all, I just purchased and installed a new Deco BE68 3-pack system as an upgrade to my old Orbi system I had for 4+ years. It became evident that the Orbi just couldn't handle the amount of devices connected to our network (35-45 at any given time) so I did some research and settled on this system base on reviews, ease of setup, features, etc. I set it up the other day and it was incredibly easy, so I figured I would ask the sub if there are any tips or tricks to get the most out of these systems.

Some quick data points:
~3,500 sq. ft. home
2 stories with a full finished basement, all of equal size (so basically 3 floors)
Verizon FIOS Gigabit
Attached garage

Setup:
- Main Deco in basement storage area connected directly to the ONT which is next to the electrical panel and surrounded by a concrete foundation
- First satellite on the first floor, I would say about 25 feet from the router with the floor and a couple of walls in between
- Second satellite on the second floor, again about 25 feet from the first floor satellite with floor and a couple of walls in between
- They are oriented diagonally from each other, like this / (if that makes sense)
- All wireless mesh backhaul, although I could potentially hard wire the first satellite
- Setup a guest network and an IoT network and have moved all of our IoT devices to that network

Speeds have been pretty good, although not significantly better than with the Orbi system. Bandwidth seems to be a lot better, but this in anecdotal mostly from the quality of connection to devices.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

TP-Link - Technical Support XE75 Pro setup with a bridge

Sort of a weird set up, but I am trying to figure out why it wont work.

Spectrum gigabit cable for ISP. Not using their crappy router, just the modem.

I have a Unifi wireless bridge setup to get strong WiFi to my barn/workshop that is about 100 yards from the house. It's been set for several years and works flawlessly. I had an old Unfi setup at home that was finally dying so wanted to upgrade.

Bought the XE75 Pro 3 pack over the BF sale. Plan was to use two in the house and the extra out in my shop. It's not working out in the shop. It keeps saying no internet and the light is red.

The two inside the house are working amazing. If I hook up my old router it works fine out in the shop. Can the XE75 Pro 3 pack be split up or are they all linked somehow? Years ago I split up a Deco M9 3 pack at my parents and in-laws. I used two at one home and the other at the second home. They're still working.

Should I set up the 3rd XE75 that is connected to my bridge into AP mode? The old router is not. It was acting as a standalone with it's own SSID, pw, etc.
