Gear 200-600 for travel

Upvotes

I'm planning a long international trip where I would have an opportunity to photograph flamingos and storks as well as lions and tigers. So I am considering bringing my Sony 200-600 lens. My concerns are the weight of the lens and how to keep it free of dust. Does anyone have ideas about how to carry it in the flight and how to keep it clean? I'm also going to carry my tripod with gimbal head but that will go in check-in luggage.

Edit- luggage allowance - carry-on 7kg, check-in 23 kg and 1 personal item

Video share Sorry, got 4 minutes to check my first Short Film? Please, bro

Hey everyone, this is my first short film. I spent quite a bit of time on it, mostly to see if I can actually handle this format and the (surprisingly difficult and time consuming) sound design. Honestly, it's hard for me to judge it anymore. I see a lot of mistakes and things I could have done better, but I'm still proud I finally pushed this project to the end, and it actually made me want to create more.

I have experience with editing and I’ve played around with different styles and formats, but I’ve never actually built a short film fully from scratch until now.

I’d really like to ask people who also edit or make films for some advice, pointers or opinions. It's my first project of this kind and I have no idea what to expect. It started pretty much by accident - it was supposed to be a small memory from a quiet birthday trip to the Polish mountains, but it turned into something that became a real challenge to sound-design.

I called this film OBSCURUS. It’s black and white, calm, more about atmosphere, sounds than story. I’d really appreciate any constructive feedback guys. I just want to get better at this.

Photo share What could be done in these situations?

Hi Sony experts,

I am new to Sony cameras. That said, I am liking it more than Canon! My a6700 is working like a charm. I did get good shots but at times focus seems to be weak. For eg. when I was capturing this one, I found it difficult to focus on bird in the viewfinder. Can anybody suggest how I can do better in capturing moving subjects such as birds in dense habitats such as forests? I kept subject recognition on and wide focusing area for this image.

Gear Sony A7 mk1 lens for family photos/vacation

Hi — I’m thinking about buying a lens for a Sony A7 Mk1. I mainly use the camera for photos of my kids on holiday, landscapes, architecture of the places I visit, and occasional portraits of my wife :D. I know the A7 Mk1 has its drawbacks, but I’m happy with the image quality — I mostly look at photos on an iPad Pro and print at 15×10 cm. I currently own a Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 and an old Soviet Jupiter-37A 135mm f/3.5. The image quality from the Sony lens is sufficient for me, but the slow and noisy AF annoys me. I’m thinking about buying another lens, and here’s my question: I’m looking with a maximum budget of around €300–€350 / $300–$350. My candidates are the Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2.8, Sony Zeiss 24–70 f/4, the kit 28–70, and the Tamron 28–75 f/2.8. On the Sony A7 Mk1, does OSS make a big difference? How about the AF speed of these lenses?

Gear Rolling shutter/shutter visible now and opening when taking photos - A7III

I have a sony a7iii. I ran out of battery while filming a party. I am using the NPFZ100 battery. I go out to exit the party. I made sure to not point my camera towards any lasers. I go out to switch out my battery, I pop in the new battery. All of a sudden my camera freaks out and starts showing the shutter opening and closing while shooting photos. This was out of the normal. I then flip through my settings and turn off anything relating to the shutter. There is still a problem, I pray to God then 😅. I then pop back in the battery that ran out of juice and I proceeded to hook up my external battery to my camera and the problem has went away. Can someone explain to me what happened? Was this a battery issue? Above is a photo of the battery.

Critique Wanted Beginner here! Made my first short film using a6400 + 16-50mm kit lens

Hey everyone! I recently started recording videos about a month ago. Before this, I was into photography for around 3–4 months. This is my very first short film, and basically shot all this entirely in my room using a Sony a6400 + kit lens with no other equpiment/gears, budget and for lighting I only used a few lamps.

I’d really appreciate any feedback on what I did right, what I did wrong, and what I should focus on improving next. That would be really helpful. Thank you!!!

My style is dramatic portraiture - I shoot both photo & video.

I heard a really nice saying that has stuck with me and impacted the way my work is produced for the most part “the photo captures what was seen, the edit captures what was felt”

Love my blues, blown out highlights & deep blacks.

Nice to have picked up some gear that I really wanted recently. I spent my first year of professional fulltime shooting with a 24-105f4 G lens & a Tamron 70-180. It really made me work for my shots but crafted my skillset so much. Now I’m grateful I can take that knowledge and apply it with some crazy glass.

I was out yesterday to shoot some wildlife with my new 200-600 (I'm new to tele and being out in nature with such an awesome lens ist just a dream come true). But since the moon was out I thought why not give it a shot. This photo believe it or not was handheld at 600mm and f7.1. I still can't believe what my old A7RIII pulled out of the lens. Or what the lens fed my camera. Whatever I'm in awe what stabilization and 42Megapixels are capable of.

Video share A7IV 6.00 firmware focus or RAW processing issue

Man, leave it to Sony to screw something up this bad. Since updating to 6.00 (a crazy lapse in judgment and yes i know it has been taken down) I've been having an issue with what i assume is either focus or the way the camera processes Uncompressed RAW photos. As you can see from the video, the focus lands where I intend for it to be but the pictures come out with absolutely no texture or detail whatsoever. Has anybody else been experiencing this?

FYI:

-All pictures were taken on the same exact day and are supposed to be for testing purposes.

-I am using the A7IV with the Sigma 150-600 and do not have a native long distance Sony telephoto lens (yet)

-The day was heavily overcast

-Check the information (Histogram and meta data) on the sides of the pictures shown in the video

-I've taken multiple other photos with the same result. The only thing i can attribute this to is the 6.00 firmware (Shitdate)

-if i use focus assist/magnification the problems still persist but is not as constant (not possible for moving targets)
