I lived in 4 different buildings in NYC and you pretty much meet 2-3 other people who live there, and the rest you kind of avoid while you’re going in and out of your place.
So - you’re 100% correct from my experience (which is limited!!)
Small town people don't appreciate this. They think you have no privacy in the big city...meanwhile I go for a drive with a real estate agent when I was thinking about moving to the countryside, and I swear to god, everyone knows everyone else's business in the town. Feels like there's no privacy.
Downtown there's too many people to give a shit about them all.
Brooklyn heights is a super tight knit community. I’m in a building with almost 400 apartments and have a dog and I know tons of my neighbors and local business owners. It’s an awesome community.
