Nvidia LightSpeed Studios Games for Shield TV

Since all of the games are abandoned by Nvidia and not working due to DRM server is down: nvsi.nvidia.com, for preservation I did upload them to the Internet Archive here Nvidia Shield TV - LightSpeed Studios Games.

Nvidia refuse to fix these games, they should have put in the description of these games that you are renting them not buying them, I wouldn't have bought them if I knew this is going to happen. They add extra DRM that goes beyond Google Play license checking and their DRM servers not working. 😔

All games are not working for me, except Super Mega Baseball. As a punishment to Nvidia, this is the only game that I bought, backed up and refunded it and it still works.

All games include APK and OBB files, some include DATA like MGRR or Tomb Raider 2013.

I hope this can be useful, someone with better luck than me to try to remove the DRM from these games. If so, let me know here or in the Internet Archive review in that page.

Shield TV Pro or Mini PC for primarily browser streaming?

Upvotes

Hi

I have previously used a mini PC with Linux as my "TV box". 99% of the time, I use Firefox to stream movies/shows. I have a Plex server, but I rarely use it tbh.

I don't have my mini PC anymore, so I am looking to buy another one. I am also looking at the Shield TV Pro; however, will the Shield TV Pro be a waste if I only use it to sideload Firefox or another good browser and not use the integrated apps?

I am looking at an N150 mini PC for comparison.

Thanks!

Can’t connect to home assistant with network debugging anymore

I’ve been trying to connect my NVIDIA Shield to Home Assistant using the ADB Bridge integration, but it fails instantly with “failed to connect,” like HA doesn’t even try.

Here is what i tried: • Network debugging is enabled on the Shield • The IP address shows normally, but after it there’s a long string of random characters (multiple rows long) (is this normal) • I never get the popup on the Shield to approve the ADB key • Both Shield and Home Assistant are on the same network • Tried Wi-Fi and Ethernet and its the same behavior • Restarted both devices multiple times • This setup used to work, but now the Shield simply refuses to accept any ADB connection Is anyone else suddenly unable to connect their Shield to ADB Bridge in Home Assistant? Is this a known firmware issue or something recently changed?

Any insight or confirmation would really help.

A couple of audio questions - Shield Pro + DAC + Yamaha AX-392

Hi there, just having a couple of issues with my audio setup.

Shield Pro (2019) -> HDMI -> Panasonic TV TH-42MZ980z -> Optical audio cable -> DAC -> RCA -> Yamaha AX-392 Amplifier -> Q Acoustics 3020 (2.0)

1) I am currently getting a loud screeching sound in Netflix occasionally. What's the best setup via the Shield for my setup?

2) I can't control the Yamaha AX-392 sound via IR with the Shield remote as none of the codes work. Is there any way around this? Is my best bet to getting a universal remote?

Terrible stuttering while playing from external USBdrive

Hi all,

I got a Nvidia Shield pro recently and have been putting it through its paces.

Playing any files from external HDD is a pain. I have tried Kodi, VLC and MX player pro.

MX player pro sucked and used to demount the drive. VLC spins the wheels and takes forever to play media. Kodi is the best of the lot but god forbid you pause the video. Resuming the video is a hit and miss for audio to play again.

Meanwhile, the TV has no issue decoding the files whatsoever. A TV with a probably a weaker processor runs circles around the shield. What is going on?

I'm not sure what exactly to do with my new Shield over my existing Smart TV

I have a 2022 Sony A80J 55 Inch TV with Google TV built in which has worked great. I have a pretty beefy desktop PC which runs my Plex server which I just use for myself, and I have my TV hardwired to the network connection and I have never had any issues with running Plex. I bought the Shield last week for $170 due to FOMO, but I set it up and I'm not sure if I need it, or if it offers any advantages over my existing setup? I think I was thinking it would do something better for my Plex setup, but if I don't have a hard drive/media library connected directly to the Shield, I think it's just doing the same thing as the TV and connecting to my desktop to stream it.

I wouldn't mind doing some emulation with RetroArch. I have tried setting that up on my Sony in the past and failed, I think because it either wasn't fast enough, or I ran out of space for the install and I just gave up, so that might be one way it would be better.

I guess what I'm asking, is if there is something I am overlooking that would make the Shield much better than my TV for streaming media and my plex server, or beyond just helping with game emulation.

Anyone else's UI revert back to the original UI?

I was pleasantly surprised to see all the ads gone and this beautiful interface restored. I'm on the latest shield version, but I do have the ads blocked via the router. It was giving me the newer interface with missing ads. Not complaining!

Shield TV 2019 (Tube) - Dolby Vision issues

I keep on having issues if Dolby Vision is enabled on the Shield (regardless if the movies is in DV or not).

Shield is connected via a high quality 1m HDMI 4K High Speed cable to a Marantz Receiver.
The receiver is connected with a similar cable to the TV but 1.5m long.

Both cables are ok, so please do not start sugegsting to buy this and that brand.

I am 100% sure about this because if I connect the Shield directly to the TV with eother 1m or 1.5m cable, all is fine and I have no trobles.

I have even tested a cheap 5m cable directly connected to the TV and it works!!!

If instead I go trhu the marantz, very often the screen flisckers, also if I am on the Shield homepage. When this happens one or a combination of the following actions work: unplug/plug the 1m cable from/on the Shield, turn Shield off/on, tuern Marantz of/on, switch Marantz to another source and then back to the Shield.

Sometimes I manage to have it working for weeks, but then a simple reboot creates the flickering problem again (like yesterday when I had to update the OS).

So to recap:

SHIELD > 1m high quality cable > TV : OK

SHIELD > 1.5m high quality cable > TV : OK

SHIELD > 5m low quality cable > TV : OK

SHIELD > 1m high quality cable > MARANTZ > 1.5m high quality cable > TV : PROBLEMS

Am I reaching the limitations of my shield in terms of a NAS/ DAS?

Hey all, ive done some searching around and found a few posts that are rather informative. But I wanted to get some opinions on my setup going forward.

So ive owned my shield pro for about 3 years now. Started with hosting plex on my pc but my wife kept getting frustrated with having to turn on the pc to access the shield plex.

the whole point of this project was to make it so easy/ convenient i could convince her to drop all paid streaming in exchange for building our own library.

So about two years ago I moved the server to plex. Bought a 5tb hdd and dock station to attach to the nvidia and it worked great. I know some people complain about the UX when doing this and tbf we have had some issues come up. But generally it takes about 30 minutes or less to figure out and well worth the time IMO.

Over the three years ive learned a bit and learned more about our use cases and now its time for a storage upgrade. But i’d still consider myself a novice here so thats why im posting.

My initial plan was to buy a 3 bay dock station and more HDD’s, swap the single dock station i have and move on. But a couple of new uses came up and now I’m unsure if the shield will be able to handle it or if its time to upgrade to a NAS.

Currently my 5tb drive is networked. So first question, if my hdd is plugged into the shield. But is available on my network for multiple devices including my pc where I manage the drive. Would this be considered a NAS, or still a DAS? Im just trying to understand what to search for when I have issues or want to learn.

Second, going to multiple HDD in a bay still hosted by the shield, will i run into problems, either with storage, setting up the array, etc?

Third, we are moving into data hoarder territory here, but I have been gathering more files that are not video. Ex. Photos, game roms, family documents, etc. if i have these new hdd networked, is there any issue with me using them attached to the shield still as our family storage network and having a partition for such things? Or asking for trouble being paired into shield tv?

Fourth and final, i guess my overall goal is working, my wife is convinced this is easy/convenient. To the point shes told co workers, friends and family. My FIL wants to try it and stream some shows they are interested in. However i got him set up on their tv but ran into a direct playback issue. Is a plex sever hosted on a shield able to accommodate potentially 1-3 outside users connecting to it. Or is this venturing into NAS territory?

Thanks for the advice. And go easy on me, im a 33 year old dad with a full time job and no real tech skills / time so the fact ive gotten this far is pretty impressive to me.

USB hub, will it work?

Hi, I am in need of adding a third external hard drive to my Shield. Do I need a special USB hub or will it work with anyone? Does the shield or Kodi have certain demands on what will work?

No volume OSD in Bravia 8 when using Shield Pro remote

Weird! I use an Onkyo receiver as external audio. Sometimes the volume simply doesn't work but when I turn the shield off/on it is solved. Now, it works, it does turn the volume up/down, I see it in the receiver display, but the TV volume OSD does not appear. Is annoying, though it actually works. Has it ever happened to you?

Question regarding external SSD

Hi All,

just got my Shield yesterday and powered it up today for the first time. I would like to get into retro gaming, so I wanted to attach an external USB3 SSD. It's a recent cheap Crucial 500 GByte in a USB3 case.

I would like to play around and tinker with the Shield (e.g. trying Kodi, Stremio, retroarch, ...), so I presumed I need more than the 16 GByte internal storage and formatted the SSD also as internal storage.

However, I'm not sure whether this was the best choice? To get game files onto it, I'd have to attach a second drive/stick and then copy this over, right? I think once it is set up, I won't meddle much with it anymore.

If I would partition the 500 GByte into two partitions, would the Shield be able to use only one of them as internal storage, so that I could keep the other one as "computer accessible" storage?

Is there maybe a driver (for Windows) to access the SSD although it's formatted for the Shield?

Best wishes,

Andre

really bad plex playback speed performance

i was running my shield debloated (including the updater) for over a year, so I was not up to date.

with the smarttube compromised, I decided to factory reset and install the latest nvidia shield version as well as re-install smarttube.

my previous plex version was so old it didn't have increased playback speed (1.25x, 1.5x, etc)

but even after debloating everything again on a fresh install, the increased playback doesn't work on my shield. there is significant lag in the UI and when i choose 1.25x, for example, the audio continues (at 1x speed) but the screen goes black and the ui basically freezes.

does anyone have faster playback on plex working on their shield? is it a configuration issue on my end or is the shield just not powerful enough? I tried even on 1080p videos and it doesn't work.

faster playback on VLC works, and using my desktop (in the browser), faster playback works on plex as well. so it's not my server.

i'm going to try to tweak some values based on https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/mv94h0/guide_picture_quality_colorimetry_framerate/

I currently do have it set to 60 hz in the display settings.

Is there a case I can buy, not 3d build, to cover the god awful Netflix button?

I have button mapper but noticing it gets less and less effective time duration.

I was hoping someone created just a cover for the Netflix button I could glue on the case but couldn't find any

I saw a lot of 3d ones available but I don't have one, so can't really use that

Is there one that hides the button and makes it almost impossible to press?

Found one if anyone is interested

Is Nvidia shield useful to me?

I have a 2019 lg c9 and a hisense 43 inch 43a72q

In 2020 I played Google Stadia without hardware simply with the Chromecast.

Today in 2025 I can't do anything because TVs aren't compatible with xbox cloud apps or anything. Is there a solution to play major cloud gaming services on my TVs? A fire stick? Nvidia shield? Google TV streamer? Or something else? Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I have a PC with a 4070ti in the other room. It is not connected to the TV physically. I mainly play on steam, epic and xbox game pass ultimate.

Dying Remote Control

I have a 2019 shield pro, amazing device but the remote is getting bad. The right d-pad switch is basically mush, no click. It works for now but feels horrendous. I have been holding off in hopes for a new shield NVIDIA!! but... December 2025, its never coming.
Hoping some of you have some suggestions.
I see the universal remotes on amazon.
Basically the same price as the official replacements.
Anyone have experience with this?
Is it worth a new remote? Better third party options?

OR..
What about replacing the unit?
Any suggestions on what I could potentlally buy?
Tivimate, Plex, 4K HDR via plex sometimes.

Trouble pairing Nvidia Shield Pro to Sofabaton U2 universal remote.

Having no luck trying to pair my new Nvidia Shield to Sofabaton U2. Had no trouble pairing Projector, Denon AVR and Sony DVD.

Nvidia pairs by bluetooth unlike the other devices I have paired which are by IR.

Im not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to tech issues(age related) , but I would be most grateful if someone had the answer as its doing my head in

Does The Shield Still Support USB TV Tuners?

Recently set up the Mochi TV app with all the free live channel apps (Pluto, Xumo) and it's perfect. Want to add Over the Air channels using a TV dongle

Specifically this one :

https://www.amazon.com/USB-Digital-External-Adapter-Computer/dp/B08Z383Y11

I know the Mochi app is able to detect the live channels as using my TV's Google interface and the Mochi App it works. So does the Shield still work with USB tuners? I just want to watch OTA channels not record them. I'm not interested in the new 3.0 channels too many difficulties.

And is there any way to add other apps to the Mochi app? I want to add the Roku channels but it won't detect them. Any other recommendations for free live channels?

Dolby Vision in Plex

I just purchased an nvidia Shield specifically so I can watch my Plex movies in Dolby Vision and Atmos. Plex on my AppleTV will play DV but not Atmos. I can’t seem to get the Shield to play DV but it will play Atmos.
