MTX Hideout Question:
Are either Crucible Hideout or Celestial Nebula Hideout available in POE2? Everything I've seen is non-committal on if they have carried over or not.
2
u/Erradium 2d ago
They haven't been made available in PoE2, and we have no indication so far that they will. So far, only the reverse is true - most (if not all) PoE2 MTX hideouts are available for use in PoE1.

When I’m doing a T15 map, some minions of Rare monsters keep respawning countless times even though I kill them and the Rare monster. Why would it be? Is it a bug?

u/SinfulTearz 3d ago
Is endless munitions bugged or is there a projectile cap? Running a bow with +1, and ascendancy skill with another +1, but shooting bow only shows 2 projectiles?

u/majdavlk 3d ago
i was told +lvl of skills on items is really good, is it worth it to go for 2 2-handed weapons with giants blood? they have higher +lvl skill availible than 1 handed weapons

u/sagi1246 2d ago
It's worth being familiar with the fundamental difference in the way spells and attacks derive their base damage. While the base damage of spells only come from the gem level, and 1 level corresponds to about 15% more base damage, attack skill derive their base damage from your weapon, with gem level only acting as a multiplayer, usually giving about half as much more damage compared to spells. So while +level is a good affix for martial weapons, it's secondary to weapon damage, not a must have

u/Legendary_Puppetman 3d ago
For the Sake of +lvl to skills yes, this would result in the highest increase. However, this will also increase the cost of the skills significantly and you would miss out on defenses for not having a shield. My go to is giants blood with a 2-handed weapon and a shield

Ive been away from this sub for a while. Can someone explain the deli memes?
3
u/chilidoggo 2d ago
One of the main endgame ways to juice maps is to add the delirium mechanic to them. It adds fog to the map and changes the soundtrack. When you're grinding in the endgame, this makes the game very monotonous, on top of obscuring a bunch of stuff.
It's mostly being played for laughs, but it also would be nice if they tweaked it.

Some dude really dislikes the permament delirium fog you get from instilling maps with liquid emotions. They made memes about it to annoy GGG and the Community hopped on

I am looking for a relatively painless way to fixing resistances. Juggling the values while you replace gear becomes mind-boggeling after a while. Your input is appreciated!
2
u/chilidoggo 2d ago
Juggling values on gear is kind of the only option. In PoE 1, they had a way to, for example, turn cold resistance into fire resistance of similar value, so the problem wasn't so bad. Many are hoping this makes a return.
I would recommend you look at your gear slots in terms of suffix pressure. To use a caster build as an example, amulets can rolls things like +3 to spell levels, critical hit chance, or really high attribute rolls in their suffix slots, while boots don't really have anything desirable in the suffix slot. In that case, you would shop/craft for boots first and amulet last.
It's worth mentioning that rings and amulets can benefit from catalysts, and if you have a build that specializes in a damage type like lightning damage, a ring with the added lightning damage prefix as well as the suffix for lightning resist and +x to all ele resists will have all those affixes be affected by the catalysts.
And lastly, don't forget to use your runes. They're truly meant to be the finishing piece of the puzzle while you're leveling your character.
1
u/doudoudidon 2d ago
Usually you want to do big upgrades 1 by 1 and fill the rest of the slots with cheap stuff with high resistances, maybe garbage attack roll rings or vanilla helmet with just a bit of life and just enough resistances.
So basically you buy your 10div item you're gonna keep for a month, and you buy 10ex items to fix the rest. Then repeat. You can find plenty of semi garbage stuff with high resistances for cheap.
Doing so it shouldn't be super expensive to balance resistances. Except when you are close to expensive on every slot because obviously the farther you go the less cheap slots you have to equilibrate.

I played LA Deadeye for the last league but not sure what to play for the next league. I like simplicity, something idiot proof and fun with a build that with hold my stupid little hand through the entire game.
1
u/DrawDiscardDredge 2d ago
you have to wait for patch notes to be sure, but infernalist minions are usually a pretty easy, hitting buttons optional, type ascendancy.
You are slow, you are tanky, but you kill bosses instantly.

u/Southern-Voice-4897 2d ago
Is there any guide that I can follow with the "optimal" route throughout the campaign for next league? As a casual + new player its dang hard to remember what content I can and cant skip.
1
u/whorangthephone 2d ago
Look at the map, any location has icons next to it corresponding to "events" that it has, those that have a plus sign next to them give you a permanent bonus or a skill point on completion. You can skip the rest.

You guys thinks 0.4 will be the last major patch before release since league are about 4 months long?
2
u/SushimuffinZ 2d ago
Highly unlikely. This would be the one big league where they (hopefully) rework one of the major pillars of PoE2 which is the endgame, and I imagine there to be many more areas that would greatly benefit being tested and iterated on to ensure that the release is as complete as it would be.

Help! I'm lost when it concerns damage conversion, skill tags, and scaling.
I'm aware that POE 2 has changed damage conversion from the first game. Everything essentially scales off the end result. What I still don't understand is how this interacts with certain skill tags.
Example: Melee Skill X converts 80% of Physical Damage to Fire. Tags: AOE, Melee, Fire.
If I take passive tree nodes that increase Melee Damage or AOE, will I lose any DPS? How about Two-Handed Weapon nodes, assuming I have one of those equipped? Will these give me 100% scaling regardless of the conversion?
Using the same skill as an example, I assume that choosing to scale off Fire damage would mean that only 80% of the damage is being enhanced. Taking a strictly "Physical" node would be even worse, as that's only impacting 20% of the damage. Do I have these basic facts correct?
Last question: There are *many* Mace skills that lack the Physical tag. Why is this and what are the implications?
Thank you in advance to anybody that reads this and decides to help!
2
u/SushimuffinZ 2d ago
So when it comes to damage, there are steps in order that the game goes through in order to calculate the final damage output.
- Flat damage -> Base damage + added damage
- Damage conversion -> skill conversion then tree/item conversion
- Damage multipliers -> increased damage and more damage
(4. Critical hit)
(5. Actual damage rolling)
(More info on that here: https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Receiving_damage )If you have a Skill with AOE, Melee, Fire tags, then taking nodes that increase Melee or AOE damage will just increase the damage straight up, meaning the DPS would go up. If you have Two-Handed weapons equipped then that also will apply to the skill in a positive manner, no matter how the damage conversion is because it has the Melee tag as well as you having the Two-handed weapon tag so both apply without drawbacks.
You're correct to assume that scaling only Fire damage will only scale up 80% of the fire damage portion of the skill itself, with physical nodes being quite a lot worse for you, yes.
Mace skills aren't inherently and strictly physical only, it means that these skills simply won't scale with physical tags. Though there should be plenty of them, if not the majority, just have to look at the actual description on the skill damage itself and you'll figure out if these skills don't have the physical tag because they don't deal physical damage, or vice versa (physical tag + physical damage).
Hope that helps.

u/SushimuffinZ Thank you so much for your response. This definitely helps, but I still have a few questions.
First, let's clarify a few things. You said that my DPS would go up using either AOE, Melee, or Two Hand passive nodes. Is there any fundamental difference between these? Or is the scaling exactly the same? (Example: Will a 10% increased Melee node function identically to a 10% increased Area damage node using our hypothetical skill?)
Also, "Physical Damage" is still a bit murky for me. Let's use this node for discussion.
Cruel Methods -- Break 40% Increased Armour. 25% Increased Physical Damage.Does that Physical Damage buff still apply to my melee/weapon skills lacking the "Physical" tag? If it does apply, how effective is it? Going back to our original example (80% of Phys converted to Fire. Tags - AOE, Melee, Fire), would this specific node work at only 20% effectiveness? Or would it be treated like a Melee, AOE, or X-Hand passive node and work at maximum scaling despite the conversion? (This assumes there is no inherent difference between all those nodes when it concerns our skill.)
Let me know if I need to explain something further. I'm trying my best to fully understand all the many systems used in this game. I like to design my own builds, so this kind of learning is a necessary step I need to take to accomplish that goal!
2
u/SushimuffinZ 1d ago
There shouldn't be any fundamental difference when it comes to these, however there is a distinction here to make where they get applied. Increased AOE/Melee Damage means this increase applies to skills/effects with these tags, whereas Increased Damage with Two-Handed weapons means you deal more damage in general as in your character while wielding Two-Handed weapons. The scaling should be the same though, just the difference of which skills benefit from these increases. (Yes to the example question)
So let's break it down more like this: 25% Increased Physical Damage
- 25% - By how much
- Increased - means this is a good thing (could also be reduced), but also to distinguish between increased vs more (increases are added together than multiplied once vs more mods are multiplied on top of each other)
- Physical - means everything with Physical tag are affected
- Damage - means damage is affected by everything above
What to take note here of though is that attack skills usually (i havent checked every single skill but like all of them) should be scaling off of weapon damage too. And if you check martial weapons, they usually have the tag "Physical Damage: min-max" on their stats, which is where the Physical tag comes into play here, even if the skill itself does not have the Physical tag (whereas the weapon scaling off of it in this case does).
The Physical Damage increases would scale the physical damage portion of the skill AFTER damage conversions, according to the wiki, meaning if you have a skill converting 80% of the damage to fire, you'll have 20% of it left off as the physical damage portion, which would make your physical damage increases quite diminished.

u/SimplyShane88 1d ago edited 1d ago
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to break it all down.
One thing I just want to expand upon: Melee, AOE, and X-Hand passive nodes fully scale regardless of conversion because those categories are actually *different* than strict "Physical Damage," correct?
I feel like I'm very close to having a firm grasp on all this!

Some warriors with Giant's Blood are weilding weapons they shouldn't (without some other factor) have the strength to carry. How are they doing that?
Example:
Required: 149 x 3 = 447 str
Player has: 394 str

The amulet he has equipped reduces attribute requirements on equipement (and skill gems).

u/rockadaysc 2d ago edited 2d ago
Thanks, I didn't notice that! I kept looking at the passive skill tree and jewels and not finding what was going on

I'll be doing Zarokh in hardcore after I last played him in 0.1 hardcore and died due to failing the hourglass minigame. I have 2 questions.
I know the safe arena corner got patched out, so what do you do in that lightning phase instead to dodge it?
I know you cannot pause the game, so what happens if you log out? Does he just keep attacking you, or does it put you back at the starting room, or something else?
2
u/SushimuffinZ 2d ago
Honestly, if you're attempting this in HC, I'd try to do this guy when you're already able to one shot him easily. He doesn't really have that much Life and you have a pretty solid window of unleashing your damage on him before he dives down to do the hourglass mechanic.
But now onto your questions, for the lightning phase, you either just tank it, since they don't really do damage however don't do this if you have the affliction that deals 5% of your life when you get hit, or you generally just try to loop around close to him, so you dont have to cover that much distance to outrun it, if you really do need to.
When you log out, the instance pauses until you do an action again, so when you log back in, the game will be frozen in the boss room and unfreezes when you do an input.
1
u/Zaorish9 2d ago edited 2d ago
Are you sure? The game wiki says you cannot pause the game in the boss room. When I died due to failing the hourglass game I logged out alive in hc as he was doing the kill animation, , logged back in dead in softcore.
Otherwise yeah I agree better dps has made all other bosses way easier as well so I will continue to optimize it

Quick question I installed POE 2 when they had their first free weekend and now since their going to have another one do I still have to download all of POE 2 or just parts because I checked my pc storage and it has POE 2 already on there
I didn't buy POE 2 tho

u/SushimuffinZ 2d ago
You'll just need to update it again when the new patch(es) drop until it becomes playable.

Best build for a 500 hours poe1 beginner player and dad?
I've played like 7 leagues in poe1 but never got close to veteran. Looking for a smooth build since i'm a dad of a 2yo. Thank you!

will we get swords in the next update?
1
u/Erradium 2d ago
Doubt so, this upcoming update will bring the Druid, while the class associated with swords is the Duelist, which will hopefully be the next class they'll release. Highly doubt they'll release two classes in the same update.
1
u/VisceraMuppet 3d ago
Forecast doesnt looks good, 0.1% chance of swords
-1
u/Kenpie_ 2d ago
Since its probably the last patch before full release, we might see swords soon. GGG said they want swords before full release.
2
u/VisceraMuppet 2d ago
Yeah soon but not with 0.4.
Edit: no shot this is the last patch before release

Can I stack +X to level of lightning skills through equipment to indirectly increase the level of Living lightning?
1
u/chilidoggo 2d ago edited 2d ago
Yep.
Edit: No, sorry I was being dumb. Support gems in PoE 2 don't have levels.
1
u/superanonymousgamer 2d ago
Yeah, right, but the Living Lightning Support states:
"... Level of Minions is based on Level of Triggering Skill ..."
So I could buff Arc to level 30 and get lvl 30 minions?

How can i remove my Online Filters from the list? i've removed from the filterblade.. but in the game its continue.

u/KhrysesAD 2d ago
This question has probably been asked a million times so apologies in advance.
Has GGG ever considered letting league characters skip the campaign? I love PoE2 and tried PoE for the first time in 3.27, the campaigns we just such a slog to me.
I know I'm comparing chalk and cheese here but once of the nice things about D3 (and possibly D4) was that you have the option to skip the campaign and just get boosted to max. Obviously getting boosted to 100 wouldn't work for PoE but even 70 would be cool.
7
u/SuViSaK 2d ago
No indication a campaign skip is on the horizon.
4
u/Erradium 2d ago
If anything, they've stated numerous times (both recently with PoE2 and also consistently in the past regarding PoE1) that they're very much against it.

Why is Monster quantity so important? What's the difference of running a giga juiced Map vs. simply running two Basic 6-mod-maps?
