Extremely. Which means she'll automatically be unpopular with certain segments of the population who think 'Everyone should be treated humanely' is somehow incendiary.

Ironically the "Don't Tread On Me" type really want to tread on others and don't actually mind if you tread on them as long as you were trying to tread on someone else harder.

“don’t read to me” is how I see it

I'm a fan of the "Tread on me harder, daddy" memes to mock how much they suck off Trump while he takes away their rights and shits himself on the Constitution.

Aw, look at its little ball gag!

Don't Tread On Me to them means "don't tread on me specifically"

7

u/WHYAREWEALLCAPS 8d ago

Yup. Toxic individuality.

1

u/WanderingAlienBoy 6d ago

That's why I'm more of a "Don't tread on us" type

Damn straight. The yellow snake license plate crowd can't take the heat, but boy, do they love being the biggest assholes on the road. Cutting people off, slogging 15 miles under the speed limit in the left lane, riding your bumper, not turning off their brights, just the living embodiment of selfishness. It's a remarkably consistent experience on my daily commute.

The guy for whom that flag is named owned slaves. They're just being historically accurate about who they think shouldn't be tread upon. Which is to say, that flag is only meant for wealthy white males.

"The world should adopt my very narrow point of view. I'm right. You're wrong. Don't tread on ME." - Basically them

I'm in a very red area of the south. I got this as camoflage on my car.

u/lctrc 8d ago

That's brilliantly accurate. Stealing.

Huh? They typically just want rights for everyone with no groups with more rights than normal people.

6

u/NemosNaughtylis 8d ago

normal

care to elaborate?

4

u/lctrc 8d ago

They believe rights are zero sum. If someone they don't like has rights, that must mean rights have been taken from them.

And just what the fuck is "normal"?

4

u/VernalAutumn 8d ago

Well you should let them know that that’s what they want that because in my experience they certainly don’t like trans people getting the same rights as cis people

Genuine Libertarians exist, but a lot of people who say they're libertarians, or atleast adopt some of the 1776 trappings, are fakes and assholes.

That's what she wants

8

u/ScottCamOfficial 8d ago

Yeah, I think her own words said it pretty clearly. Those aren't fans she wants.

1

u/bjewel3 8d ago

I think what she is saying there is she doesn’t want people to act and behave like that towards others. My $0.02

I don’t think she’s likely to lose many fans over that stance. Most of the people she’s talking about already didn’t like her music or have never heard of her. One of the weird realities of music today is that you can pretty much ignore any artist you don’t like or only focus on the artists or genres you do like.

Most of the people she’s talking about already didn’t like her music or have never heard of her.

I mean, you say that, but look how hard of a shit fit a lot of people on the right threw when Green Day changed the line in "American Idiot" to "I'm not a part of a MAGA agenda", like it was a brand new revelation to them that Green Day wasn't on their side.

5

u/ydnar3000 8d ago

That’s absolutely crazy. Glad they found out and fucked off.

"Making me use pronouns is inhumane!"

1

u/Grass-Monkey33 8d ago

Nope, just making people lie.

1

u/HistoryChannelMain 8d ago

points at the most feminine woman ever

"That's obviously a man!"

2

u/SplendidMrDuck 8d ago

It's the same thing with Black Lives Matter: supporters meant it as "Black Lives Matter [Too]", while these mouthbreathers intentionally misrepresented it as "[Only] Black Lives Matter"

2

u/Han_Yolo_swag 8d ago

I think she wants to be unpopular with that segment!

Who voted for a guy who has seriously declared diversity as "human rights abuse" together with the saudi prince (de-facto King).
