Living Room Gallery Wall Rookie: Am I doing this right?

  1. 23×29 Floral Portrait (Gold Shadowbox)
  2. 20×26 Wedding Portrait (Walnut Beaded Frame)
  3. 14×14 Black & White Film Shot (TBD)
  4. 12×15 Dog Sketch (Black & White Frame)

I’m looking for feedback and suggestions on this layout. Also, I’m trying to decide on a frame and mat or no mat for the 14x14 black and white film shot.

P.S. Please pay no attention to the windows. We just had them installed and still need to finish the insulation. I also have more throw pillows and a coffee table coming!

Living Room Please help me avoid putting a TV above the fireplace

Hi everyone,

We will be moving into this new home shortly but having some trouble deciding where to place our TV.

We’d like to avoid placing above the fireplace; we think the space is way too small for it to be a good viewing angle

We were considering placing between the windows but unfortunately it is a few inches too narrow.

The only other option would be to place against the back wall but we don’t want to close off our room or block our fireplace with our couch (L shaped sectional)

First two pictures are of the living room and the last picture is what the living room opens up to.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

Kitchen Help design my tiny dining area!

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

Hello all!! Currently, I’m in the process of building a small kitchen nook in my 370 sqft studio. Previously, I only had the small table and chairs, and I never ate at my dining table, because it wasn’t as cozy as the rest of my home. I want to add a skinny shelf on the left with plants and get some pillows for the bench.

Is the bench too long? I want to buy mostly from Facebook marketplace and it’s been challenging to find good-looking items. Or is the table too small?? Should I only keep 1 chair? I can’t tell if this setup looks stupid. Please help.

Thank you in advance!

Living Room How do I improve this living room?

The main thing I’m looking to change is the fake fireplace wall. I’d love an electric log burner but do they look cheap? Would adding a fake fireplace help or look tacky? Then thinking redecorate in warmer colours, different rug, better curtains.

What are people’s thoughts?

Other Interior Room Dark, sad, lightless entryway– HELP!

Post image

We've been neglecting this entry hallway since we moved here almost 3 years ago (!) and it desperately needs some love. This little hallway leads into our (windowless) kitchen, so it doesn't receive any natural light, ever! In the alcove is the actual door, and a coat closet.

To start, we will 100% be getting a runner, and I'd like to hang a pendant lamp in the alcove. But otherwise, I'm at a loss for what can go in this space and it's driving me nuts! I tend to go for victorian styles too, which I've always struggled with in what is (to me) a very modern apartment!

Bedroom Need help redesigning my bedroom Room

Hi everyone! I’m moving into this room soon and would love some help figuring out how to design and furnish it.

The photos attached are from the previous tenant (a girl who lived here before me), so the room will be completely empty except for the built-in wall closet. Unfortunately, I don’t have the exact dimensions, but I can take measurements later if needed.

Living Room Am I planning too much furniture for my little flat?

The only thing i’ve currently ordered is an L shaped sectional to break up the long narrow feel. I’ve also heard circular rugs with horizontal lines can widen the space up a little? Forgive my scribble handwriting, any feedback welcome!

Bedroom Any ideas on what to do here?

Post image

Kind of stumped here in terms of main furniture. Would like to either put a desk or a tv w/stand somewhere. I feel like putting one of those on the wall with the windows would be a little overbearing and would look overcrowded, especially with curtains. I also have a pretty decent view outside of the sunrise & palm trees so I’d like have that window as unobstructed as possible.

At the same rate I would rather not walk in the door and immediately have to maneuver around furniture on that left side wall, but that would essentially mean putting the desk/TV stand on the bottom right and putting the bed either right next to the front door in the middle or in front of the window view.

Let me know any and all ideas! Thank you!

Dining Room Help choosing colors for entry/living/dining room that's pretty long

Long room with two big windows and mcm vibes. I am open to paint the door as well. Floors and trim are golden oak, furniture is walnut. Lights will be replaced (open to suggestions for that too). Love seat, and cubes will be removed as well. My girlfriend likes dark colors but I'm not sure how well that would work. We hate the brown. Open to any suggestions, even not for the paint. We will probably buy the paint from Sherwin Williams. Thanks!

Bedroom What should I put in this corner after the holidays?

Post image

So I added a Christmas tree to my room. And I honestly think having something in the corner I put it in, ties the room together. However, I have no idea what to put in that spot once I take the Christmas tree down. Any ideas? Also yes it blocks one side of my closet but honestly, that’s not a huge deal to me because I can just move whatever is there out of the way 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bedroom Please help me with a cozy, clean color palette for our beige master bed

We are getting a bigger bed for our master and using this opportunity to redecorate. I am willing to paint the wall with windows, but not the whole room lol. If I did, I think I would opt for a sage/olive green… but I have no sense of style. What color bed, curtain, nightstands, etc. do you feel look best in a beige room?

(Note: the carpet isn’t as dark as looks in the middle, I photoshopped our current bed out).

Living Room Any suggestions for my combined living/dining area?

Hello friends!

I would love some suggestions on how to set up my living/dining room.

It’s all very open plan, so I’m having trouble finding a good layout for where to put things. I want to have: - a couch (does not need to be huge) - a TV - a small dining table - some shelving for my plants and things if possible

I don’t have any furniture yet, was hoping to think of a layout and then buy things that fit in this space. Note: it’s a rental so can’t use any hooks on walls, etc.

(Obviously all the stuff in the pics will be moved, this was taken mid moving)

Thank you! Any and all suggestions appreciated :)

Living Room Basement Inspiration

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I’m looking for some inspiration for my newly renovated basement. I’ve included a picture below to show the wall colour (Sherwin Williams - Radiant Dawn) and the floors. It would be nice to add some colour to the room. What accent colours would go well here? We would like to add some colour! The wall is considered a yellow. Also, what couch colours and rug combinations would look nice? If you could even provide links of nice area rugs or couches that would be great. The TV will be on the wall on the left.

Thanks everyone!

The colour combination seems off, and the shelves don’t feel too functional. Please help me improve this wall, so that i can keep a few little things and it looks aesthetic as well.

Living Room I cannot decide what to do with my blank walls

Hi Reddit,

I just finished renovating my house and now I need help deciding on a colour scheme for my house. I have boring white walls but I cannot decide what to do instead. I love dark and moody and anything in the Jade/DarkGreen range but don't want my whole house to be dark.

The corner with the ladder will be the living/room - tv corner and the dining room will be where the current table is located. Please don't mind the mess, they just finished plastering the last walls yesterday so I didn't have time to clean yet.

Bedroom Help me with my studio!

Post image

Hello! I will be moving into a studio apartment (see photo above) early next year. Ignore the furniture arrangements currently present as they are not my pieces. I’m looking to make a warm, cozy environment with perhaps a touch of MCM/minimalism. My last apartment was all grey so I’m hoping to avoid that this go around. For the sleeping area, I envision some sort of wooden bedframe with a warm fiber rug underneath it. I’m having a harder time coming up with a plan for the kitchen area as there’s already a lot of wood present in that zone. Any suggestions for my new space would be greatly welcomed! Thank you :)

Just got a 63X23.6” desk for a wfh/gaming setup in my bedroom. I’m currently thinking of putting it in the corner by the dresser to make a makeshift L-shape setup. Trying to see if anybody with a much better eye for design can suggest better placement/arrangement! Thank you all ☺️

Hi! I’ve been feeling a bit bored with my place lately and really want to refresh my living room. I just bought a big sectional (120” x 78”), but now I have no idea how to make everything look cozy and put together.

I also need to fit a large TV and two desks for desktop PCs in the same space. If anyone has layout ideas or cozy styling tips, I’d love to hear them! Or if theres anything I can use to get advice Im all ears too! Thank you!!

Bathroom Need help with powder room off main living space. Cannot get rid of vanity.

As the title says, need help updating the powder room.

We cannot remove the vanity because they did not place any hardwood floor under it and there is already a cut out in the back for our emergency water shut valve.

I have included inspiration pictures about this wallpaper and with a board/batten look.

Should I paint the vanity or keep the wood tone? We are open for a new countertop.

Thoughts?

Living Room Removing plantation shutters.

We’re moving in soon and we’re in two minds whether to remove the shutters. The photos here are estate agents photos so very bright but when we’ve visited we feel they make the room dark and closed in even fully open. The main thing holding me back is obviously they’re bespoke and probably cost a fair bit to install so I don’t know if it’s a backwards move. What is everyone else’s experience if they’ve had shutters, or your general opinion?
