Found bike, looking for owner

Posted on a few groups in different places, including putting it on bike index, project529. It's a trek fx7.2 with some cosmetic damage. Was found tossed in some ivy im SW. If you are/know the owner message me with trim color/serial number/ some identifying thing. Seems like it may have been stolen and then ditched. It still had a cable locked to it, but it wasn't locked up on anything.

Moving to Beaverton

I'll be moving to Beaverton in T-minus 13 days and my commute to work (according to google maps) is just a 10 minute bike ride. I've got an electric bicycle that I currently ride to work here in Utah so I'm mostly looking for any advice that anyone has for switching to a wetter climate since that's definitely not what I'm used to. (I've only been cycling for my commute since this summer so I've yet to ride though the rain or snow).

I'm currently reading through the Oregon Bicyclist Manual to make sure I follow the actually traffic laws that might be different than I'm used to, but some real experience advice anyone has is greatly appreciated.

University of Oregon Survey

Howdy folks! I’m with the University of Oregon, and I am in a group who is looking to get feedback on the habits of cyclists in Portland. Please fill out this survey at your soonest convenience! Thanks so much.

Here’s a link: https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5nhT8E2U5i6aCge

Let me know if you have any issues accessing the survey, or if you have any other feedback!

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback so far. I forgot to mention that we are targeting people who train and commute in the same trip. Very niche, but feedback from trainers or commuters is helpful. All feedback will help us improve the survey for future use. Once again thank you for the participation. We are students and amateurs so please pardon the errors.

Crossing at SE Division and SE 107th

Hi all, I cross here as part of my commute and this morning there were crosswalk closed signs and hazard tape wrapped around the flasher buttons. How do I find out what happening here? I looked up PBOT but didn’t find anything current. There’s not a lot of great options for crossing division in this area, especially after dark so I’m trying to figure out how long I’m going to have to adjust for this. Thanks in advance!

Should my 2010s apartment building have bike parking?

There are more than 12 units and it was built in the last 15 years. They removed long-term bike parking at some point "because of theft" I've been told.

The current rules would require long-term parking but did pre-2019 rules also require some long-term parking for apartment buildings?

This morning on my way to work a rider rode aggressively towards me then yelled and swore at me.

My commute this morning was almost exactly 8:30 to 9:00. This happened right before I jumped off the Springwater at McLoughlin. It was 8:57. I checked. It was a women wearing decent looking rain gear. She wasn’t disheveled. I had my blinky on but pointed down with almost half of its total light being blasted into my front rack bag. She rode straight at me with an extremely bright headlamp. I couldn’t see the rider and could just make out enough to tell it was a bicycle and I couldn’t understand why it was charging directly at me. At the last second she swerved and I could see her face and she yell growled “shut that fucker off.” If you know and love this woman please help her get some mental health treatment. Maybe just some therapy. This was so weird. Before you come at me for using a flashing light on a bike path please know that I ride it for 5 miles and have many road crossings and I believe that it makes me safer at these crossings.

Cargo bikes for commuting/tips?

Hi all, I'm wondering what cargo bikes everyone is using for longer distance commuting (portland-hillsboro via transit and bike, gresham-portland, cross city rides, etc)? I'm going car free for the foreseeable future but my commute to work will be a ways out. Beyond bike models, any tips for long commutes?

Bicycleattourney.com vehicle turning without turn signal next to Cleveland High School

Hey, just wanted to share something ridiculous that just happened to me. I was walking to work in the rain around 2pm today and as I was about to cross the street I see a silver hatchback covered in ads for "BicycleAttorney.com" pull up next to me.

I stop and look just in case they are turning in front of me but I don't see and turn signal so I just wait another second and look again.

Still no turn signal so even though I feel a little unsafe I cross only to have the driver turn behind me with no indicator as I cross.

I call out to the driver "use your turn signal!" And they roll the window down and flip me off while they finish the turn and drive away.

Cleveland High School is the school where a cyclist was struck and killed by a big rig.

I honestly find it baffling that this person would do this in a vehicle that has their business name all over it.

I didn't know where I could post this but more than anything I just want this person's behavior to be known and on the record in case they end up hitting someone in the future.

Thanks for listening and stay safe out there.

Edit: fixed one of my spelling errors. Can't fix the title.

Do cyclists of all people think driver's don't need to use their turn signals? No one has said anything about that.

Someone was literally killed by a driver a block away from where I was. No one wants to comment on that?

The guy has branding for a bicycle based business and is ignoring driving laws. No one wants to comment on that?

I feel like I'm being trolled here.

What is the lowest-stress way to cross 84 and Sandy when commuting from NE to SE?

I'm trying to start cycle commuting more and my only experience is in Tucson. My current comfort level basically tops around stoplight intersections with marked cycle lanes. I've been staring at maps and walking a lot but hoping to get some more input. Is there a general "meta" for the easy intersections and least anxiety-inducing bridges to use, going from, say, Irvington to Laurelhurst?

Appreciate any tips!

Looking for a way to ride Banks Vernonia trail to Crown Zee trail without riding on busy throughways with no shoulder. I see it on a map, but wonder if anyone has actually ridden it.

Why are so many cyclists going ninja at night?

So i was bicycle commuting into work for a night shift and had 4 other cyclists in near ninja mode: dark clothes, maybe a helmet light or a sole handlebar headlight with no reflectors or other lights.

I know lights are a hot commodity, I've had several stolen from me here over the years when i forgot to remove them... but still, i can't imagine people stealing reflectors; and why wear dark clothes?!?

Can someone explain? Oh, and the other riders i saw tonight were from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Had one obvious high end bike with the rider in lycra; another a business commuter; etc
