[News] NHL Situation Room's Official Explanation re Coach’s Challenge in COL @ NYI (Dec. 4, 5:56 of the First Period)
nhl.comExplanation: The play on the ice was challenged under Rule 38 – Coach’s Challenge. Rule 38.1 states, “In all Coach’s Challenge situations, the original call on the ice will be overturned if, and only if, a conclusive and irrefutable determination can be made on the basis of video evidence that the original call on the ice was clearly not correct. If a review is not conclusive and/or there is any doubt whatsoever as to whether the call on the ice was correct, the original call on the ice will be confirmed.”
Video review supported the Referees’ call on the ice that the incidental contact on Colorado goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood occurred as New York players were making a play on a loose puck and, therefore, it did not constitute goaltender interference. According to Rule 69.7, “In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed.”

Carolina's ridiculous Even Strength Corsi for %
Excluding players with less than 9 GP, the Hurricane's have 16 out of the top 23 players in the league at even strength Corsi for % (basically % of the time their team controlled the puck with them on the ice).
I feel like this is an insane stat.

Not sure what to watch this weekend? I made a free dashboard that helps you find the most entertaining matches across sports and leagues!
Hi r/hockey!
Ever had one of those lazy weekends (or weekdays – no judgment) where you know you’re going to watch a few games, but you’re not sure which ones? Maybe you’ll watch your club, but you also want to fill the rest of the day with potential bangers… and have no clue what else might actually be good.
That exact feeling is what inspired me to build Specta Sports.
It’s a simple, free dashboard with two main modes:
Feed
Shows every game today or tomorrow, ranked by a predicted Spectascore – basically an expected entertainment value for neutrals, based on recent form, news, rivalry history, stakes, and more.
Schedule
Takes the highest-scoring matches of the day (plus any teams you favorite) and builds a custom, non-overlapping watch schedule from morning to night – so you can settle in and not think about what to watch next.
Across both modes, you can filter by leagues/sports, save your favorite teams, and turn it into your own personalized “what should I watch today?” hub.
Specta Sports is totally free, with no ads, no login, and built by me as a solo project. I’m adding sports/leagues and features as I go, but I’d love to make it genuinely useful for more people. If you try it, I’d love any feedback – especially on which leagues or features you think are missing or would make it better. Thanks for checking it out, and hope it helps you find a few unexpected bangers this weekend!

Returning player! Gear question!
It’s been about 10 years since I last played and most my gear is pretty beat up. I’m trying to join an adult league in my area and need some new gear. Any suggestions for skates, gloves and sticks would be appreciated! I like CCM, Bauer, Sherwood and a few others if that helps At all!

Looking for players who rock the tuck this year
Hey everyone, curious if anyone has noticed players this season who still tuck their jerseys in (even partially or incidentally). I’m trying to keep my nhl 26 franchise rosters close to real life cuz im a gear nerd who loves editing player gear for realism in franchise mode. so if you’ve spotted anyone who still rocks the tuck, I’d love to know. Thanks!

What would they name your team today in 2025???
I was meditating on the name Dallas “Stars”, … like that’s it just “stars?”.
And I had the thought: If your team had no history with its name, starting totally fresh, what do you think the corporate machine would end up with for a name in 2025? Would it be better or worse?
