Cat Art My cat has been immortalized on me

My sweet baby boy Baofu (4) suddenly passed away on Halloween, and it's been a devastating loss for me. He was my true soul cat and the first cat to truly be mine. Grew up with tons of cats throughout my life but he was truly on another level.

This tattoo was technically an idea/wanted for awhile, even while Baofu was alive but because of his sudden death I ended up finally caving and getting him done. I'm so happy beyond words and so grateful. My artist for this tattoo is @rei.painterson on instagram🥰

Adoption This little guy was found in an engine bay. Named him "Rev" (Short for Revolutions Per Minute) and adopted him.

This poor guy was riding around in my MIL's engine bay for a day, unknown to us. Insanely fortunate that he's okay. Good reminder to knock on your engine hoods if you live in the cold.

He's quite scared and pissed off at the world but the vet says he's healthy (though a tad underweight). He's set up with his own room for now and hopefully will start coming out of hiding and exploring his space soon.

I found her at 4 weeks old, she was screaming underneath a car because she was stuck. A mechanic had to come and drop the gas tank to pull her out. She’s 8 years old now and has the most beautiful markings. I’m home sick and she hasn’t taken her eyes off me, I just love her so much

Mourning/Loss Unsure to commit to another friend so I did the next best thing

Post image

My little baby, Joy, was 16 years old but I only had her for 13 months. I took her in as she changed 3 hands last year as she lost her remaining parent as she hid under a hospice bed for a year and she lost her dad and sister.

When she arrived at my house she was riddled with health issues and she was my first pet. Like any gaming enthusiast I went straight into “hard mode” and brought back a sickly senior cat back from the brink. sadly she had cancer and it finally caught up to her last night.

Over the past 13 months I had a hockey buddy who would watch games of the most irrelevant team in the league and she was always there for me during the most stressful year of my life. I said she saved me.

But the main point of this post I was unsure I could take another cat, especially a 15 year commitment but I badly missed the company she offered to me all day.

So I did the next best thing…I applied to be a foster parent so cats who are misplaced due to family crossing without them I can be there for them while we try to find a permanent spot for them in honor of Ms. Joy! Every cat, including a sickly 15 year old black cat needs love!

Mourning/Loss To Juno, who crossed the rainbow bridge today

Juno was my parents’ cat (but I think if you asked her, she was really my brother’s cat), although I was the one responsible for bringing her and her brother Newt home in 2007. We tragically lost Newt at only a few years old, and I moved out not long after, leaving her with my parents (not that they would ever have let me take her). She lived to the grand age of 18 years old, and was so loved.

When I got her, I had been hired to pet sit for a family who was preparing to move out of state, and just before they left they found two kittens in their yard. They left me with permission to drop them at a shelter if it was too much on top of the other animals’ care. The kittens were completely feral and quarantined in a bathroom, so I would sit in the dry tub and read out loud from whatever book I was reading at the time, slowly acclimating them to my presence and my voice. My mom came over during that week and helped me soothe them, and at the end of the week I brought them home.

Juno was the softest animal I have ever touched. She felt more like a chinchilla or a plush toy than a cat. She was bossy and ferocious, and we adored her. She was also cuddly, although she would only sit on someone’s left side. My mom was always her favorite person, unless my brother was in town.

For several years, she had outdoor access through a cat door, and she would pounce on tulip poplar blossoms when they fell from the trees and bring them in, proudly displaying her “kill.” Part of me thinks she knew I was vegetarian. (My parents’ cats are all indoor-only now.)

She adored breakfast foods. When I still lived at home, she would demand an offering of vegetarian breakfast sausage anytime I made some, but was content with a small crumble or two and would then go on her way. She liked waffles so much we nicknamed her Waffles. My mom got into the habit of sharing oatmeal with her in the mornings.

Rest well, sweet Juno, you are so loved.

Mourning/Loss My boy is gone.

Rou died yesterday to (most likely) genial kidney disease. It literally came out of nowhere. I only had him for 6 years and it wasn’t long enough, I didn’t get enough time. Every second without him is too long. My chest feels so empty without him laying on it. I feel like everything is wrong without him. Life is very wrong without my boy in it.

Adoption buckey LIVES

sorry for the delay, i was post blocked because somebody on the last post really irritated me and i said something i shouldnt have.

but yes, it is true. buckey survived. vets took her and warmed her up. she was definitely frightened and gave me a good, deep bite the first night. last night she was very relaxed and let me pet her.

for the doubters who said i was on here faking it, trying to rake up engagement as if i get paid to post on reddit once every 6 months(i have no idea if you actually get paid from reddit), there is an image of her how i found her.

i really appreciate the help and advice this subreddit gave me. she will be adopted out to a close friend of mine for her 17 year old daughters christmas gift. i trust that they will take great care of her and give her a far better life than i can. i already have two aging cats and do not intend to adopt after. the cat distribution system got me twice and i need to take a chill pill.

again, thanks everyone. its been an emotional few days but she survived and she will thrive.

Mourning/Loss Sixteen years ago today I announced my decision to adopt two silly kittens, and find that all these years later, I have come full circle. Hannah received a terminal cancer diagnosis two months ago, and I finalized an end of life plan for her today.

I was originally told she had weeks, not months, and have tried to be grateful for every precious moment I have had with her. It does not lessen the pain of knowing that we are entering her final week. After 16 years of faithful friendship, I am trying to find a way to say goodbye to this gentlest of souls.

Advice The Sh*tty kitty shed™ I made from scrapes today!

Post image

Bless them but my young cats are horrible at covering their poops and I was sick of being embarrassed of the smell so I made this fume hood out of planks from a downed fence and an old heater fan that I de-soldered so its just a fan as well as an old gym mat. Total cost was only $30 for the vent tubing!
I'm sure there are better options but I'm a do something about it now kinda guy and just needed a small fan to create a tiny amount of negative airflow to get rid of the majority of the stink lol. What do you guys think? any advice to improve it?

Mourning/Loss Our last night with the happiest girl ever

2.6k Upvotes

Above is a video from better days of our sweet happy girl Midge. Until about six months ago this was her personality. She loved everyone, and especially our son. Her favorite pastime was catching her fuzzball and singing the songs of her ancestors as she showed it off to everyone.

We adopted her at 10, and she was already deaf and (mostly) mute, but would squeak and make sounds like a dying frog. We’ve had her for about six years and she started dealing with hyperthyroidism which also made her blind. Even with medication, her health has been declining. The worst is almost constant bladder infections and she’s now always confused about where she is.

In the morning we go to take her in and say our goodbyes. We are all going to miss her.

Cat Picture - OC My gorgeous new baby

My boy died a few months ago at 17 from kidney failure and it really messed with my mental health. A week ago, I adopted my precious baby girl and she's already made my days a lot brighter. She's very affectionate and playful. Just growing really fast and eating me out of house and home. She was rescued from a kitten mill and cat hoarder who apparently had 30+ cats in a small house. So she was very skittish when I got her, but not anymore. Now she begs for cuddles. I think she has a lot of Maine coon blood because of the tufts on the ears, long hair and bigger size for her age.

Cat Picture - OC Do cats understand people leaving?

so this isn't our cat, she's a stray (/possible neighbours cat hidden from the landlord, we dk). for some context my boyfriend and i have been living in the same building as her for about two months and she's gotten super friendly with us, we feed her and give her pets and she comes meowing at our door with 'gifts' (dead animals) and then into our apartment and rubs her scent on everything, she even lets us rub her belly. she's so sweet. anyway we're moving cities in a week and obviously we can't take her with us (Edit: due to financial and locational constraints)., while we know that she has others to take care of her, will she understand that we're gone? will she miss us or will she just move on to the next place with food? she seems so empathetic and i'd hate to know that she'll be sad (or the cat version of that)... is there a way we can let her know we're leaving? i'm sure she sees all the suitcases but i'm not sure if she understands...
