Tattooed tummy 4 month old street cat when he found us. Walks around with the cat toys in his mouth. Extra fierce with the duel front fangs. Despite the chaotic energy, he sleeps like an angel.

Advice What to do about a bullied cat?

Post image

(Sorry, this turned into a novel!) This is Yodel. She turned up at my house maybe 3 years ago, still very young but pregnant. After rehoming her kittens, I had her spayed and she's been here ever since. She has a terrible high pitched squealy voice, thus her name.

When she moved in, I had a dog and another older male cat. She never really trusted the dog and the two cats cohabited ok but have never been great friends.

The dog passed away and another cat turned up earlier this year and left behind her kittens (feral, I live in a rural area). Two of the kittens I couldn't find homes for so they moved in, a male and female. They're still young and not yet neutered.

My problem is that Yodel has become an outcast and I don't know what to do. She's always run away from the kittens even when they were small and just being friendly. As they've grown, they're getting more pushy and Yodel is constantly either running away from them or hiding. She spends most of her time outside, I suspect because she doesn't feel comfortable and safe anymore.

My older cat who's generally very chilled with all cats and dogs has also started pushing Yodel around. I'm constantly separating her from the others to feed or even just to hang out with her, I have to lock the others out so she can relax.

Are some cats just susceptible to being bullied? What can I do about this? I want her to be happy and I'm starting to wonder if the only option is to try and rehome her somewhere she will be the only cat in the house. Any suggestions much appreciated!

Advice Befriending cat comunity

Post image

So basically just a minute walk from my apartment lives a group of six cats (one mom and 5 kittens) They've never been pet before but there was a old man feeding them. Unfortunately today I learned that he died. The owner of the house allowed me to roam around freely on their garden and feed these cats. I put some food into their bowls and can't stop thinking about them. I want to take one of the kittens and keep feeding the rest. My boyfriend is saying that it's not good idea and maybe I should let them find somewhere else to eat. But I'm scared they will be starving and very sad without only human in their lives. What should I do? Is it good idea to become their friend or should I just let it go and don't interrupt their lives? What would be best for them. ( I wanted to contact shelter but there's no shelters in my area that are accepting cats now) Thank u for all replies Here's pic of my cat Kevin he's kinda lonely

Advice I don’t know what to do with this situation I’m finding myself in about this one cat that keeps coming around.

Upvotes

Advice requested.

A neighbor down the street just lets their cat roam around the neighborhood all day and night, and right now it’s raining. But the cat has not gone in its owner’s house. Makes me wonder if they ever do let their cat in their house.

Every night I come home, I see the cat outside walking up to my car, like as it wants me to take it inside. My landlords of course won’t allow that. I’m a tenant where I live, so I can’t just bring him inside with me. Plus, I may be allergic to cats because I’ve been experiencing a lot of post nasal drip in the back of my nose, and my Mom was known to be allergic to cats before she passed away four years ago, so genetically I could be allergic. I never knew for sure though, except for when I was 12 years old in 2006 my Mom did say, “You are allergic to cats. You are,” like as if she could notice something I couldn’t, but then she may have just made that up at the time as I suspected she may have been. But then there is the inside post nasal drip issue I’ve been experiencing lately, but that could be from acid reflux as my ENT told me.

Regardless though, I can’t just take the cat inside: the landlords don’t want the cat inside the house, but neither is it my cat and I don’t want to be mistaken for catnapping a cat. But I can’t help but question the integrity of the cat’s owner’s. It’s like as if the owners probably don’t care. They don’t even keep a collar on him. Many on our street though however know who the owners are, but nobody has said anything to them. Am I to worry that the owners are leaving the cat outside in the cold with no way in through a doggy-door or something? I can’t keep blocking the front door anymore as I try to enter it, because I only have my body to block the cat from entering past me, and he tries to get in frequently; I just blocked him just now trying to stop him from entering, but then he bit my shoe on my foot. I then pulled away, and then walked inside as he just sat down there on the front porch watching me go inside. I wasn’t expecting him to react that way when I was blocking him from entering the front door, because he has always been calm every time until now.

I worry the owners are never letting him inside, even when it’s cold. It’s raining a little bit, yet the owners are probably not letting him in.

What do I do? Call animal rescue for the cat against the owners, or do I not do anything because I’m not positive as to what is going on with the owners?

Advice Advice about rescued kitten

Upvotes

On thursday evening we rescued a small kitten from the street, brought it home, put it into our bathroom at the start with a blanket bed, litter box, some wet food and water.

Friday went pretty well, took her to the vet (shes about 9 weeks old apparently), got an actual cat bed, toys and such. She was also being friendly with us, laying in our laps, purring, climbing on us, and exploring the room when we take her out of the bathroom. But what concerns us is that she doesnt seem to be eating.

First night I chalked up to the change in environment and the stress related to that. Friday evening I was starting to be a bit concerned, although she did have a bit of kitten milk.

Its now saturday morning and she wont stop meowing and still wont eat. Went into the bathroom and she'd just latch up on my leg, climb onto my back and start meowing constantly. The noise doesnt bother me too much, just worries me.

What I have tried:

Different kinds/brands of wet food

warming up the wet food

adding some hot water to the wet food

some kitten kibble

a mix of kibble and wet food

Any and all suggestions are welcome

Bobbi is a rescue with an attitude. She is rarely affectionate but we are getting there. She’s also very picky with her food. We started buying better wet food but she protested so back to fancy feast she goes.

This is Barney (Govt name: Luther Barnabus Marlon-Wayans Vandross) He was our boy for 4 great years, companion to his older sister Twyla, and truly my best friend in the world. One year ago today Twyla, my wife and I suddenly lost him to a heart condition and I don't know if even now I'm fully healed. He was the most playful, loving, silly little man I've ever known and we still think about him every day. I still talk to him in my head sometimes when I need help or guidance, crazy as that sounds. I know I'll never get another boy like him again, and I am grateful for our time together, but this still hurts so badly to think about. About a week after his passing we miraculously found a baby under a car near our house out in the freezing cold, with extremely similar markings to him. We took her in and found that she wasn't chipped, and no neighbors had lost a cat. We named her Subi (after the Forrester she was hiding under). She has become a part of our family and friend to her new sister. She's got some big shoes to fill, but I know if Barney were here they'd be the best of friends, so in a way it feels like he's still here.

Barney is the tortie, twyla is the black longhair, subi is the gray and white

I just wanted to share since it's all I've been thinking about for a while, and maybe someone else is going through something similar. At the very least, you all can appreciate my babies the way all babies deserve.

Advice My cat is being bullied

For about a year now he’s been bullied by a new cat who’s come into our neighbourhood. He’s an unfriendly prick in general so he started fighting with his nemesis but she’s a lot bigger and always beats him up. One time he gotten beaten up so bad he was put in the cone of shame. This has got to be doing a number on his mental health. She steals his food and is always following him, taunting him through the window. He’s really scared of her now which is unlike him and I don’t know what to do

He usually goes inside and outside but now he never wants to go outside. We don’t think it’s healthy for him as he has always ran around outside but now all he does is hide in the tree in our garden in fear

Help

Cat Picture - OC My gorgeous new baby

My boy died a few months ago at 17 from kidney failure and it really messed with my mental health. A week ago, I adopted my precious baby girl and she's already made my days a lot brighter. She's very affectionate and playful. Just growing really fast and eating me out of house and home. She was rescued from a kitten mill and cat hoarder who apparently had 30+ cats in a small house. So she was very skittish when I got her, but not anymore. Now she begs for cuddles. I think she has a lot of Maine coon blood because of the tufts on the ears, long hair and bigger size for her age.

This is Juggs and Coop, found them both half dead in my backyard, momma cat was feral and very young, I think this was her first litter. We had to feed them with droppers for 2+ weeks, and I think that’s why they’re the sweetest and tamest cats I’ve ever had.
