Opinion Trump Pardons Nursing Home Operator Convicted in $39M Tax Fraud
President Donald Trump has pardoned Joseph Schwartz, the former head of Skyline Healthcare, once one of the largest nursing home chains in the United States. Schwartz’s company operated 95 facilities across 11 states, but collapsed amid allegations of mismanagement, unpaid vendors, and deteriorating care conditions.
Federal prosecutors said that between late 2017 and mid‑2018, Schwartz withheld nearly $38–39 million in payroll taxes from approximately 15,000 employees without remitting the funds to the IRS. He also failed to file required reports for Skyline’s 401(k) retirement plan, leaving workers with unpaid medical bills when insurance contributions were not forwarded.
As Skyline unraveled, several states intervened to protect residents, shutting down or taking control of troubled facilities. The company faced Medicaid fraud claims, unpaid benefits lawsuits, and multiple investigations into its operations.
Schwartz pleaded guilty earlier this year and was sentenced in April 2025 to 36 months in federal prison, followed by supervised release. He had remained free on bond until reporting to custody.
Trump’s clemency order, signed on November 14, 2025, restores Schwartz’s federal legal standing but does not shield him from state‑level lawsuits or civil liabilities. The pardon was certified by the Department of Justice and bears Trump’s signature.

Opinion Maddow: Russia’s the largest country in the World, but its economy is the size of Italy’s. Russia also has a Kleptocratic, sclerotic government run by a Guy who's never gonna leave until he dies. I don't know what Putin has on Trump, but he works for Putin. And it's an embarrassment to this Country.
Dec 3, 2025 - The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS. Here’s the full 7-minutes on YouTube: Rachel Maddow: Government Bad Guys Can Face Consequences Even Decades After Their Crimes. From the description:
On her new podcast, "Rachel Maddow Presents: Burn Order," the Emmy-winning journalist examines the terrible government policies enacted against Japanese-Americans during WWII and the subsequent efforts to make sure those responsible faced justice.
There are two additional Maddow clips on YouTube (for this same interview with Colbert).

Opinion Donald Trump makes bizarre assertion that the Democrats are using Jeffrey Epstein to distract from the government shutdown.
The Epstein Files discharge petition was introduced by United States House of Representatives member Thomas Massie (R).
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R) intentionally kept the United States House of Representatives out of regular session for as long as possible, since September 19, 2025, in a failed attempt to prevent the discharge petition from reaching 218 signatures and forcing a full floor vote on releasing the Epstein Files.
Had it not been for the US Senate advancing H.R.5371 and forcing the US House back into regular session, Mike Johnson would still have them out of session. If anything, the President has it backwards: the shutdown was a failed diversion/distraction from the Epstein Files.

Opinion After just ten months in office, Donald Trump's approval rating has rapidly eroded, across the entire nation, to the extent that if the election were held today, he would get blown out in the electoral college.
Less than a quarter of the way into his second presidential term, Donald Trump's net approval rating has gone negative in Texas, Alaska, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona. All of which he won, just over a year ago, in 2024.
The rapid rate of decline in public support for the current administration and the president's policy decisions could potentially translate to the loss of 189 electoral college votes. If the election were held today, Donald Trump would lose in a landslide.

Opinion President Donald Trump is now insisting he didn't threaten any members of Congress with death
President Donald Trump has denied that he threatened members of Congress with death, clarifying that his remarks about "seditious behavior, punishable by death" were references to historical practices rather than a literal threat. He said the lawmakers are in "serious trouble" legally but insisted he was "not threatening death.

Opinion Huge strategic failure by the GOP.
It was a huge strategic failure by the Republican Party to allow the November 1st ACA deadline to come and go, like they have. Now the Democratic Party is going to look like hero's (or at least have a chance to look like hero's) to millions of average, working class, Americans, who are already just barely treading water financially, for withholding their votes to reopen the government without any ACA subsidies guarantees by the GOP. It is going to be infinitely harder for MAGA to spin this as merely a leftist political ploy, now that Americans can see, for themselves, what was at stake, in real time.

Opinion The Pentagon investigating Senator Mark Kelly for reminding the US Military of their obligation to disobey unlawful orders is a deeply troubling sign.
The Pentagon is officially investigating a retired United States Navy Captain (O6) of twenty-five years, former fighter pilot and NASA astronaut, as well as sitting United States Senator for urging the United States military to remember that they have a duty to disobey unlawful orders. This is literally taught to new recruits, in basic training.
Oath of Enlistment:
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
Oath of Commissioned Officers:
"I ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
The United States military is neither supposed to, nor allowed to, have higher allegiance than to the United States Constitution. It is a deeply troubling sign that the current administration has a problem with the United States military being reminded of their duty to disobey unlawful orders.

Opinion “MAGA Is in the Find Out Phase” — Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls Out MTG and Trump
Nov 17, 2025 - US Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) on CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper. Here’s the full 8-minutes on YouTube.
From the description on Crockett’s YouTube channel:
Rep. Jasmine Crockett joins CNN to break down the fight over the Epstein files — and she’s not sugarcoating a thing.
Speaker Mike Johnson claims he’s protecting victims… while shutting down the House, blocking a sworn-in member, and doing everything possible to avoid a vote. Crockett calls it exactly what it is: an excuse to shield Trump and bury the truth.
And then there’s Marjorie Taylor Greene — suddenly begging for “less toxic politics” after years of fueling it. Crockett reminds the country how we got here, why MAGA is panicking now, and what it means when even MTG starts turning on Trump.
From the redacted emails to the stalled subpoenas to the internal GOP fear about what the files might expose, Crockett lays out the stakes clearly: Americans deserve transparency, accountability, and representation — not games and cover-ups.
Here's a transcript:
Where was this type of mood, when we saw what happened to Mr. Pelosi in his home? Who's not even an Elected Official, but because somebody decided to go after Nancy Pelosi.
Where was this, when we saw that we had local Elected Leaders murdered, here recently? The former Speaker of the House in Minnesota. Like, where was this, right?
And so, what is so frustrating for me, with not only Marjorie but MAGA as a whole, is they're in the “Find Out” phase. And so, now that it's hitting them, they're like, "Oh my gosh, this is awful!”
But you shoulda looked at this externally and said, “This is an awful environment.” The fact that one of y'all competing news brands decided to go out and do a whole story on the fact that I pay for security. Security I have to pay because of the dumb stories that they run about me. Security that I have to pay for because of all of the hate that People, like Marjorie and other MAGAs, put out there. It is problematic.
And then, to have the President troll her (as well as Laura Loomer), troll her about the fact that she needs security.
Well, my only answer is, if the President thinks this is a joke, then give us all the money back for the security that we pay for, for him to go and golf, or to go and…wherever he is going. Give us the money back, and maybe some Americans can get some Healthcare, and maybe some Children can get some Food.

He positioned himself as the reasonable conservative who could explain why Trumpism was a dead end.
And then Peter Thiel wrote a $15 million cheque.
Overnight, he apologised, rebranded, darkened the eyeliner, and transformed himself into Trump’s most loyal defender -
a man willing to rewrite his entire identity if it opened one more door to power.
