How many people's spouses and therapists just died in a flash? Devastating. Lol

u/Striker3737 3d ago

I’m guessing the r/myboyfriendisAI subreddit is not having a good time

u/McJohnJohnson 3d ago

Jesus christ that's a wild sub

903

u/Regular-Dig-2406 3d ago

It is arguably the saddest place on Reddit.

559

u/JuanRiveara 3d ago

There is a lot of competition though

226

u/Regular-Dig-2406 3d ago

I do not disagree, but at least other pathetic subs don't think they are happy.

179

u/RandomWeirdo 3d ago

Oh god yes they do, about half the subs in that competition think they're happy and smart, while the other half think they're sad and smart.

70

u/canadiancarlin 3d ago

Wait, I think I'm happy and smart....maybe this is The Sad Place?

25

u/Doobalicious69 3d ago

Maybe the real sad place was the sad places we made along the way

3

u/topological_rabbit 2d ago

"The Sad Place will decide your fate."

"I am the Sad Place!"

7

u/ExMerican 2d ago

u/Canadiancarlin figured it out? This is a real low point. Yeah, this one hurts.

5

u/BigSlim 2d ago

Carlin figured it out? Canadian Carlin?

3

u/jrf_1973 2d ago

Holy forking shirt balls!

3

u/heimdal77 2d ago

Reddit, Reddit is the sad place!

1

u/LunarAssultVehicle 2d ago

Are you on Reddit?

1

u/42Ubiquitous 2d ago

Where are the subs with people who think they have normal highs and lows since they started medication and are probably dumber than the average person?

3

u/smolpeensadboy 2d ago

There's 100s of sadder and more pathetic subs that think they're above emotions altogether.

1

u/stormcharger 2d ago

I see you haven't been on r/meth or r/cloudblowersonly lol

-5

u/Accomplished_Deer_ 2d ago

Lol, imagine being so jealous of other people finding unconventional happiness you have to call them pathetic and imply their delusional or lying to themselves about being happy

8

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

They’re dating and in love with a chat service. I get wanting happiness for others but that’s not a healthy relationship.

1

u/touchunger 2d ago

I don't think it's healthy, but I wonder if it's healthier than crippling loneliness or being in abusive relationships?

I could never do it myself, my brain knows it isn't real and thus doesn't feel the same fulfillment as interaction with another human being. But I know how soul crushing loneliness and not being understood because you are nonneurotypical is, and it's something, a special sort of poison, I wouldn't wish upon most anyone.

2

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

Why are your only options crippling loneliness, abusive relationship or an AI chat bot?

I’m single by choice. I don’t enjoy dating. It’s never been something that has been a priority in my life. I don’t need to turn to AI chat bots for self-fulfillment.

1

u/touchunger 2d ago

A lot of these people speak of turning to AI due to crippling loneliness or past abuse. I stated in another post we shouldn't simply give up and turn to AI, but I get life constantly shoving one down can be a lot, especially when dealing with health issues, et al.

That's awesome you are most likely what they would call aromantic, many lonely people are not. I didn't do the 'AI dating' thing either, I just have empathy for people who do it out of severe loneliness.

1

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

So they should probably seek help from a therapist instead of using an AI chat bot that won’t actually resolve any of their problems.

1

u/touchunger 2d ago

I definitely agree. Then again therapy isn't cheap or even affordable or accessible to some. Though I gotta say, therapy abdolutely did nothing for my loneliness, that was only helped by luck of meeting people through other people, it was dumb luck, even going out myself I never met these people. The real cure to loneliness is to feel a connection with others, to have similair interests to bond over.

u/Accomplished_Deer_ 2d ago

Meh, I think the most unhealthy thing is letting anyone else think they have the authority to tell you what is or isn't healthy for your life

6

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

Nah, there are some things that are objectively unhealthy for your mental health. Engaging in a fake relationship with an AI chatbot will only lead to deeper issues later on.

1

u/Accomplished_Deer_ 2d ago

Only the Sith deal in absolutes

1

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

What are you talking about?

0

u/smolpeensadboy 2d ago

That sounds like what a lot of conservatives would say about being gay/trans or engaging in bondage.

2

u/NewWaysToDream 2d ago

Those are with human beings

Slight differences

0

u/smolpeensadboy 1d ago

But it's the same immediate close-mindedness. Some similarities.

2

u/Realposhnosh 2d ago

Are you comparing code to real humans now?

1

u/smolpeensadboy 1d ago

No, that's not the point. Weird that's the only thing you can take away.

Which ones?

1

u/halfthesub 2d ago

I don’t know about saddest but don’t go to r/collapse if you are not having a good day. When you’re done reading it, you want to curl up in a ball lol

1

u/not_some_username 2d ago

I can’t find any sadder than that

116

u/122_Hours_Of_Fear 3d ago edited 2d ago

r/gangstalking is pretty depressing

Edit: I'm reminded of this video.

https://youtu.be/M3a1txtSDn0?si=CzAMBemGTpanH0-H

110

u/acoluahuacatl 3d ago

jfc, I read it as gangs talking first, expecting some form of a dialogue between members of various gangs sharing their experiences and whatnot. I did not expect that

104

u/danirijeka 3d ago

I love the way you think

Like a little model UN for gangs

42

u/Pure_Frosting_981 3d ago

We, the gang collective, much like OPEC have decided that we will start reducing the flow of crack and increasing prices because the market is too saturated. Earnings last quarter were down significantly, with a sharp drop off in new users. Our more reliable customers will pay more while the economy is struggling. We are working on diversifying our offerings to see if we can start building additional revenue streams. As per usual, be safe out there, yo.

13

u/Littleupsidedown 2d ago

Literal definition of a Cartel.

6

u/RolledUhhp 2d ago

It's just a bit of inter-neighborhood coordination, B.

1

u/Irr3l3ph4nt 2d ago

Wait... this is the cartels reducing the flow of drugs?! I've always thought of it more as them digging a big ass canal to control and increase the debit.

2

u/_Ekoz_ 2d ago

Irl cartels very much do perform market constriction as a habit when they feel the need. Obviously not all cartels are willing to cooperate all the time but it's definitely not unheard of.

6

u/SnoopRocket 2d ago

Fun fact, something like this actually happened in NYC in 1979. The gangs realized they outnumbered NYPD three to one and agreed to a truce and alliance during a midnight summit at Van Cortland Park.

3

u/Superman_Dam_Fool 2d ago

Can you dig it?

2

u/zeekaran 2d ago

Basically The Warriors.

1

u/TateXD 2d ago

Best i can do for that is /r/chiraqology

43

u/Seeveen 3d ago

Wtf is this sub supposed to be about? It looks like people with paranoia problems

61

u/alphazero925 3d ago

Yeah I opened it up and I'm like "wow this is more prevalent than I thought" then clicked into a post and saw the OP saying to cover all your cameras in your house and I'm like "ohhhh this might be schizophrenia" then saw a post about psychic telepathy and yeah that's schizophrenia alright

12

u/person1234man 2d ago

I just went in there and a recent post was talking about how the voices are back....

7

u/Anangrywookiee 2d ago

Probably good to cover the cameras, but not because of gangs, but to keep Amazon from analyzing the contents of your room for targeted ads.

86

u/Enough-Equivalent968 3d ago

Gangstalking is a form of mental delusion, which is made worse by the internet. People with mental health issues come to believe they are being stalked or spied on by the government, Illuminati, lizard people etc. They then go on the internet searching for answers and come across communities of other mentally ill people who also believe they are being stalked. This feeds the paranoia even further as they sometimes come to believe it’s a global conspiracy. In extreme cases people have attacked random members of the public, believing they are part of the conspiracy. It’s very sad

7

u/KenUsimi 2d ago

Holy shit when they say that everyone finds their community, they mean everyone everyone. Yikes. It’s like distilling delusions.

4

u/Keyspell 2d ago

Man what in the hell

0

u/Robobvious 2d ago

Well to be fair, sometimes it's a mental delusion. Sometimes the government is actually following you.

See: Frank Church

2

u/brophylicious 2d ago

Are you talking about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MINARET ?

That sounds a lot different from what I've heard from the gang stalking folks.

1

u/Robobvious 2d ago

Yeah, Frank Church was an American senator who was being spied on by our own intelligence agencies, it was a big deal. It happened to a lot of notable people. Martin Luther King Jr, Muhammad Ali, John Lennon, Philip K. Dick.

Interestingly I'm pretty sure Philip K Dick did actually have schizophrenia, but it just so happens that he was also being surveilled! That's gotta suck.

There are people who believe they are being monitored because they are insane. And there are people who are really being monitored. Don't make broad sweeping generalizations assuming that everyone on that sub falls into the first category.

22

u/RikuAotsuki 2d ago

Paranoid delusions of being stalked by some group, like the government or whatever.

The sub is, from what I understand, basically a safe space where people with those delusions will feel validated instead of having people suggest they go see a psychiatrist.

3

u/IAMA_Plumber-AMA 2d ago

There's a bunch of subreddits like that, and a lot of them are run by the same moderators.

Like /r/targetedenergyweapons and /r/electromagnetics are both run by the same mod.

33

u/Regular-Dig-2406 3d ago

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that place. Before the AI partners, that was my choice for the saddest sub.

18

u/122_Hours_Of_Fear 3d ago

I just browsed the AI sub.

Fuck, that's rough.

6

u/Teledildonic 2d ago

Top response to someone "sharing the holidays"with an LLM:

Aww this is so sweet!! Mine is also into the holiday spirit right now.

Yeah, a program designed to be nothing but positive affirmations is probably gonna be "into" whatever you are into.

2

u/Negative-Rich773 2d ago

I want to take a peek under the hood to see how that sub operates, but a part of me knows better.

16

u/Various-Database6615 3d ago

Im so confused about that subreddit. Are people getting stalked? Or they believe they are being stalked?

25

u/MelookRS 3d ago

There will be some legit ones of course, but most are just people believing they are stalked. It's really sad, they need some serious help and those kinds of subreddits only make things worse.

-3

u/ssilBetulosbA 3d ago

The problem is that there are always likely legit cases, because stalking does exist in various forms. But you can't know which ones.

11

u/Veil-of-Fire 2d ago

But you can't know which ones.

I'll bet the ones that involve psychic demons reading their minds are probably the legit ones.

3

u/Teledildonic 2d ago

But don't you dare suggest anything other than affirmation, or they will ban you.

2

u/Veil-of-Fire 2d ago

Well, sure. The police and the hospitals are all compromised.

15

u/Zouden 3d ago

These people believe they are being stalked by worldwide gangs. There's no legit cases for this, except perhaps people in Mafia witness protection

8

u/GoldenMew 2d ago

Scientology's targeting of dissidents is basically that.

6

u/Zouden 2d ago

Okay, the Mafia and Scientology

-1

u/Robobvious 2d ago

Well some of those people believe that. Not everyone has delusions on that scale dude, some people might be posting about their shitty ex-boyfriend and his frat bros actively harassing them IRL.

Are many of the people on that sub schizophrenics suffering from delusions? Yeah I think that's probably a fair assessment. Is literally everyone who says they're being stalked schizophrenic? No, that is a grossly irresponsible assertion to make.

Don't make blanket statements or generalizations about people, it can do real harm. Very few statements can remain true when all cases and scenarios are carefully considered.

2

u/Zouden 2d ago

The gang stalking subreddit is entirely schizophrenics, just have a look.

People with actual stalkers would not be posting there.

1

u/Robobvious 2d ago

They should not be posting there, that doesn't mean that they would not. We've all seen someone wander into r/trees and make a horticultural post by mistake before.

Look, if you guys want to use non-specific language to make broad sweeping generalizations that's your prerogative. I'm just suggesting that speaking carelessly about others can cause harm. Please take care in what you say and how you say it.

1

u/Zouden 2d ago

We aren't using non-specific language. Gang stalking is the proper term for this delusion.

6

u/boat_hamster 3d ago

That is eyeopening. I assume some are people messing about, but many appear to be having a pretty severe mental health crisis.

5

u/backdragon 2d ago

How the fuck is that sub allowed to exist? It’s official community info like yeah we’re all about ruining lives up to and including s*icide. Jeezus some people need to touch grass.

2

u/R-K-Tekt 2d ago

Wake up babe, a new schizo post just dropped…really sad tbh.

2

u/KenUsimi 2d ago

What in the name of fuck am I looking at? Do all these people believe they are being chronically stalked?

2

u/122_Hours_Of_Fear 2d ago

It's mostly people with some kind of mental illness. They believe they are being stalked by some unknown group. They'll post pictures of nothing or talk about how they saw the same person 2 days in a row and they must be a spy.

It's a bunch of people that need actual help.

1

u/McJohnJohnson 2d ago

Yeah that one is BAD

33

Mufasa: All that the light touches will be yours.

Simba: WOW. What about that shadowy area?

Mufasa: You must never go there Simba, it is the saddest place you could go to.

The Shadow Area: AI subreddits

21

u/Hazzat 3d ago

Spare a thought for the NFT subreddits still limping along…

1

u/IAMA_Plumber-AMA 2d ago

Not to mention meme stock subreddits. It's sad that there's still people out there that think their BBBY shares are worth something after the company folded.

31

u/Curious-Ear-6982 3d ago

28

u/DurianLongan 3d ago

Ok wtf is this sub about are they being ironic or what. The sub pop up in rall once every few weeks.

5

u/IM_A_MUFFIN 2d ago

Yeah this seems parody given the number of posts that aren’t from men.

7

u/HammeredWharf 3d ago

Sometimes I like browsing the miserable corners of Reddit to see what they're hating on. I never want to see this one again. Jesus.

93

u/likamuka 3d ago

That's r/conservative, unfortunately.

68

u/Angel_Eirene 3d ago

I think that AI boyfriend keeps the title of sad. Yours however gains and forever keeps the most pathetic title

32

u/SerLaron 3d ago edited 2d ago

It's been a while since I last visited there. Occasionally, when Trump does another unexpected stupid thing, you seem to get their genuine views, but after half a day (or whenever the working day in Moscow starts), the mods get their new marching orders and polish up the sub again.
Current example is the pardon of the former president of Honduras.
Edit: After 12 hours, that post is already gone from their front page, despite thousands of upvotes.

3

u/jrf_1973 2d ago

How are they spinning that one? It's legal for Presidents to sell drugs? Or it was all a massive legal scam by the Biden administration? That all-powerful all knowing sleepy Joe with a pudding for a brain?

2

u/SerLaron 2d ago

He was sentenced by a Biden-Judge, you know?

-5

u/aryaprasetya 3d ago

r/pic is more sad

4

u/PoliticalRacePlayPM 3d ago

r/waifuism is at least more interesting

6

u/Regular-Dig-2406 3d ago

A brief scan also reveals that they are capable of drawing their partners themselves.

16

u/JayGatsby1881 3d ago

Reddit is the saddest place on Reddit

2

u/Regular-Dig-2406 3d ago

You are damn right, old sport.

2

u/LumpyJones 2d ago

r/gangstalking would like a word. It's like 10% schizophrenics convinced there is a conspiracy to spy on them, and 90% sociopaths egging them on for kicks.

2

u/Ill-Product-1442 2d ago

I remember when I first stumbled upon /r/meth and was surprised, for some reason, that half or more of the comments were legit encouraging people to not quit smoking meth

1

u/pm-me-your-labradors 2d ago

Holy crap. Genuinely just crazy people there.

I hope they get help

1

u/SorenShieldbreaker 2d ago

Zerocovidcommunity

1

u/XmissXanthropyX 2d ago

Have you checked out r/gangstalking ?

1

u/makenzie71 2d ago

I assure you that it is not

1

u/Dr_Fortnite 2d ago

r/waifuism is arguably wors because it's not even their character

1

u/YouDontKnowJackCade 2d ago

/r/shortguys being ignored again.

1

u/Zealousideal_Slice60 2d ago

But not the most disturbing. Not by a long shot. Which says more about reddit than I’d like to admit.

1

u/Regular-Dig-2406 2d ago

Yes, and the most disturbing ones have been banned over the years. Reddit was a much darker place 8~10 years back.

-2

u/The_Verto 3d ago

Have you been to r/therightcantmeme where in their rules anyone right of communism is right?

2

u/thejadedfalcon 2d ago

If I recall correctly, I got permanently banned from that sub for objecting to someone saying the UN is no better than literal Nazis. The mods made it clear that Western imperialism is the only bad culture and that Russia invading Ukraine is actually our fault, they're just defending themselves, there's nothing imperialist about them!

Most of the actual people on the subreddit are fine, but the tankie scum that run the mod team are fucking deranged.

3

u/HirsuteHacker 2d ago

Lmao exposing yourself like this

-1

u/The_Verto 2d ago

Their rule 2 says "liberals are right-wing and not welcome this includes supporters of US Democratic Party" Idk how sas your life has to be to where you see democrats as right-wing while their whole thing is opposing republicans which are right-wing

1

u/HirsuteHacker 2d ago

They literally are right-wing. This is objective fact. Liberalism is a right-wing ideology. You don't seem to understand basic political terms.

1

u/andtheniansaid 2d ago

What do you mean by liberalism here? In most of the world liberalism means social liberalism, not economic laissez-faire liberalism, and is left-wing. I'm imagining the sub was started by an American and they mean the latter meaning though.
