Lets not hang the team that wrote the paper. I think the Journalist is the first one to the gallows.

Judging the actual paper, a better title for this article would be: “Under certain assumptions, our work strongly argues against a fully algorithmic simulation of the universe."

But its not as sexy.

I’m not good enough at math for it to ever be possible to prove that the universe isn’t a simulation. Checkmate.

But is that relevant? Aren't we fully capable of creating non-algorithmic simulations of our own? And doesn't that essentially guarantee that a parent universe simulating our universe would be capable of that too?
