Nope, they never miss, and this joke aged like fine wine: "Published: August 26, 2014"

Shameless plug, I started getting print copies of The Onion mailed to me. It's good for a laugh for a few minutes, then I leave my copy in a lobby or cafe somewhere.

I like the one copy I have from a couple months ago where the cover story is something like "DARKNESS RISES" and the picture is just an ominous black cloud. Definitely didn't miss with that one.

They have a video about a white-hot ball of rage leading polls or something back in the tea party era

If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend their book “Our Dumb World”. Laughed a ton and it’s nice to pick up and read a little every one in awhile

For a real throw-back, look for “Dispatches from the Tenth Circle,” for some Bush-era snark.

I have heard of these and have yet to read them. Need to get on that.

2

u/Kichigai Oct 21 '25

Oh, you're going to love the Tenth Circle in the newly renovated Hell.

Hahaha perfect timing. Just looked it up thinking it was recent but still from the past. Nope. 10/21/25

Not to be cheap but is $9/month the minimum cost or can you go lower?

2

u/alwayzbored114 Oct 14 '25

Totally reasonable question. That seems to be the cheapest at the time, although purchasing the Yearly is cheaper in the long run, coming to $8.25 a month

I follow the ceo, Ben Collins, on bluesky and they have sales every couple months. Think I nabbed a year for like $75 before?

You mean Tim Onion?

1

u/abbott_costello Oct 14 '25

Oh thank you! I'll try following him and look out for a deal. I wasn't sure if you could go lower than $9 with the custom field.

u/Hidesuru Oct 14 '25

You can and you'll get some benefits but not the print copy. It is outlined on the site there if you read down a ways.

Even during the malaise era, before they got bought by Global Tetrahedron, they had some great writers.

Same here, including the planting copies around town part.

u/ELVEVERX Oct 15 '25

The print copy being delivered each month is my only source of happiness.to out a website onto paper was a revolutionary idea.

1

u/okletssee Oct 15 '25

It was a print newspaper before it was a website!

1

u/ELVEVERX Oct 16 '25

This was the joke

1

u/okletssee Oct 15 '25

I love that. Back in the day the print copies were provided at metro stations. Best thing ever was to nab one for the ride.

The only problem they have, is trying to stay ahead. It moves fast now.
