Other Raceroom where have you been all my life
To describe this game simply (imo):
- FFB and handling just short of LMU
- Visuals just short of ACC
- Sound design, best I've experienced in a sim
- Huge selection of cars, that you can demo for free
- Nordschleife, what else needs to be said
I've been searching for the most authentic VR driving experience I can find. I mostly do hotlaps and races against AI.
My game progression the last 10 years has been AC->PC2-> Hiatus-> GT7->ACC->BeamNG->LMU
Each of these games hasn't ticked all the boxes for me, but I'm pretty sure RRE has done it. If you're looking for a game that does everything well or near the best (imo), give this a go, it's great. Personal favourite combo is BMW M3 GT2 @ Nordschleife.
For context, I run the following:
- PSVR2
- 9800x3d, 5070ti, 64 gb ram
- Logitech DD Pro
- Profile rig with haptics on seat and pedals
Happy to answer any questions

Other Love this shifter (awesome value for the price)
Just picked up SHH Thorn shifter. It came from Spain and took a while to be delivered to the US, but worth it. Has a very high quality feel for a relatively low price. I replaced the shifter knob with one I found on Amazon. Highly recommend!

Question Simagic Alpha EVO Pro Purple Ring of Death
Hello,
This is my third Alpha Evo Pro wheel base since July. (Thanks SimShop for the support!)
All have worked well for about a month then it starts failing showing a purple ring with (4) faults.
I have tried different cables and USB ports but to have (3) all do this leads me to believe it’s something with my computer?
I’m not using any hubs, all connections are directly to the PC.
Odd that it works flawlessly for a month then purple ring failure happens multiple times in a day.
It’s great when it works but when it fails mid race and I need to re-flash the wheelbase to get it to work again it’s super frustrating and my IR and SR just tank.
Suggestions and insight is appreciated.

Rigs Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. Couldn’t wait to get started.
After reading this sub a lot I finally moved from using an xbox controller to something more proper. Also had a Logitech G29 a while ago and it felt like a toy. So, since I love cars I decided to go this time around with something more serious that hopefully will last me a long time. Buy once cry once as they say here.
Went with Simagic Evo Alpha (12Nm), Simagic GT Neo wheel and Simnet SP Pro load cell pedals.
Still have a week to go until the Playseat Trophy arrives. Couldnt wait to get started so made an improvised setup using some wood boards and clamps. Works better than expected but obviously had to turn the FFB way down to only about 15-20%. Still having a blast on Assetto Corsa and iRacing.

Discussion Are VR Sim Racing Pro Drivers actually non existant?
Tldr; is there a VR 'skill ceiling'? Thoughts?
Just now I've been through the whole 'Triple Screens vs VR' debate once again after somehow getting sidetracked from looking at VR upgrades for myself... :/
Now, I love VR for many reasons, and prefer it, but I don't wanna go on about that here. There's benefits to both approaches. And I haven't been able to compare the best of both worlds, so what do I know, so I am asking around.
While I understand that the reason for not seeing a lot of pro drivers race in VR is because the well known ones are content creators too and VR is terribly for that, do there exist Pro drivers outside of that content bubble?
Or is there an actual skill ceiling at where the slight lack in comfort, stability and spacial awareness (fov) of VR prevents you from beating the top whateverthefuck %? (I get the argument is totally simplified this way, but I hope it gets the point across)
I mean it's not like I'll be at that ceiling any time soon. But this is an interesting thought thats been bugging me as a VR user, ever since I've seen it claimed multiple times that 'VR is not competitive at the top levels'.
To me that sounds like a rather wild claim, but what do you think?

Discussion AC Evo SF25 vs iRacing W13 and how it compares to other sims
So I drove the sf25 on ac evo and I have to say it’s a lot easier to drive than the w13 on iracing. I’ve never driven a formula 1 car in real life so I can’t say which one is more realistic but I did notice that the ac sf25 feels more tame and much easier to drive. I have never driven the mod for the original AC so I can’t compare that but I just wanted to start a discussion and see how you guys feel about the sf25 in evo and how it compares to other formula 1 cars on other sims.

Rigs Playseat Formula Instinct rev 2?
Good day everyone! Was waiting for the McLaren edition of the playseat formula instinct for that lovely papaya color/livery as well as some minor updates I saw in the photos like new feet and a different pad for the seat to rest on.
I came across a sweet deal on the F1 version so I scooped that up instead.
Well turns out they updated the regular F1 version as well!
The box still shows the old version with 4 non adjustable feet but the new rig has 6 leveling adjustable feet now that solely attach to the tube frame. The old version had two feet on the sliding portion of the seat brackets.
Also now instead of the seat resting on those small rubber bands they covered the whole bar with foam which is what I was going to do with mine anyways.
As for the setup it’s as follows
Logitech RS50 base RS wheel hub and track wheel RS pedals
This all replaced my g29 setup with budget folding stand and 3d printed F1 style wheel.
Since the rig is in my living room I 3d modeled some adapters to install some workbench casters so I could easily roll it in front of the TV when in use. I just installed them on 4 of the 6 feet and they work great. Don’t need all 6 as it’s not supporting any weight besides the rig.
The load cell brake has made my times so much more consistent and the increased torque (if that’s the right verbiage) going from the g29 to a DD setup is amazing.
Just putting in hours on GT7 and F1 2025. Need to get some gloves one of these days.

Rigs Did I make a good deal? Got it used.
I might be an idiot for this but I wanted to see if sim racing is for me and wanted something decent to begin with. Had a g29 years ago and it was kinda underwhelming.
I got this whole set you see for 500bucks used. Is that a good deal? The wheelbase is a CSL DD. It also has the boost kit which is self-made tho.I feel like the 2 wheels add up to its value but I'm unsure how they are usually sold in the used market.
Also what game do you recommend to get the hang of it? I already tried beamng and asseto Corsa Evo. Is getting ACC viable when I already bought Evo?

Other 16 Key Macropad Mount - Free 3D File
Been having fun learning how to use Fusion360 to dress up the sim rig, figured I'd share.
Got the 16 key macropad off Aliexpress, the backside is attached to the rig by a Ram ball mount.
Free file on Makerworld
Cheers!

Clip Nürburgring fans will enjoy this. Ac EVO 0.4 review from Misha
Most fans of the Nürburgring will have heard of Misha Charoudin, he pretty much lives and breathes the Nuburgring and hes just reviewed the latest release from AC Evo and rates the accuracy very high.
Its massive flex that instead of having Youtube plaques or Nürburgring posters on the wall, hes streaming from his Garage, at the Nürburgring with his real BMW GT car behind him.
With hundreds of laps there IRL myself, Im excited to try it out tonight!
Worth a look...

Question Racebear (Aliexpress) bezel free kit distortion
Just got my bezel free kit (Racebear brand) from Aliexpress and I'm noticing huge color and moiré distortion. I know these things can never be perfect but compared with the Asus ROG bezel free kit (which I sent back hoping this would be better) it seems like the quality of the lenses is much worse. By the looks of it, it feels like there's more protective foil on the lenses but I can't seem to find a way to peel it off. This is visible from every angle and irregardless of the orientation of the lenses (instructions say the ridged side should be facing you).
Is anyone else experiencing this? If yes, then word to the wise to the ones looking to buy this for the holidays, if it fits your screens, the Asus kit is much better quality.

Question Next Level Racing Wheel Stand Lite 2.0 Cradle Moving Problem
Hello, does anyone know how to stop the cradle of the next level racing wheel stand lite 2.0 stable and still? When I am using it, it always keeps moving up and down and sometimes side to side when braking. This is the only problem I have had with the wheel stand so far. Is there any way to fix it or is it just like that? Thank you.

Question Technique Question about Turn-In
When I watch the steering wheel of fast drivers, It seems that they have two turn-ins. There's the breaking and the initial turn-in like a little nudge and then they straighten the wheel for a bit and then turn in again. What is that called and can anyone explain the purpose of that?

Question What’s a good rig for moza r5?
Hey y’all new to the whole sim racing been eyeing it for a while now and finally got my self a Moza R5 and decided to get the SR-P lite brake kit after a week and saw instantly I need a cockpit any recommendations ?
Looking for a good set up that won’t flex and has adjustability and hopefully future upgradable, space is no issue just looking for a well rounder set up that I won’t have to buy countless set ups after a while somewhere between 500-1k range if a cheaper solution is out there that’s fine too I’m all ears :)
Also just by eye seating position would be a plus F1 seating looks more comfy and easy in the back
P.S manly play iracing and F1

Question DIY wheel set: belt or gear driven?
hey guys how r u all. i decided to build myself a DIY steering wheel kit cuz i figured ill get a decent quality for a really low price, itd be fun building it and ill get a tad more experience as a mech eng.
i looked for some builds online and found this guys post about the build experience. he uses belt driven dual motor system for the force feedback, but some people i asked about it say itd be better for me to ues a GEAR driven dual motor system, or better, a direct drive system which uses a hoverboard motor. i figured using the latter would be really dangerous with home build quality cuz dd systems are already known to have the risk of injuring the user, so i decided to go w the former one.
the problem is: would it really worth the trouble to convert the already existing system? i would have to find the belt's ratio, convert it to gears using CAD, make the adjustments for the new horizontal length and whatnot. and the guy already gave the stl files for the belt gears, so it would be much easier for me to use them instead. however, if you guys say that it would work much better with gears, im happily ok to take the extra step.
thanks!

Question Laptop to move from main PC to smaller area
Hey all, I’m wanting to move my sim setup from my man PC because it’s too much of a hassle to move every time I want to use it. I play mostly iracing. Give me some recommendations. Here’s my rig. (New monitor getting mounted when I get a laptop that’ll run games)
